LRF4N Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 any1 got any ideas on how to keep the chrome lip on ur wheels lookin shiny? only had them 6 months and starting to notice some marks on them already. not noticeable from a distance but i know theyre there! any tips appreciated, cheers Quote
Stew Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Hmmmm. A wheel protector is a start. I use poorboys. I have some brake pad fall out that I am having trouble with. I am looking into a few things with Rich and Clark from Polished Bliss help. If we can get something to work then I'll let you know. Quote
clarkie34 Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Give them a good clean then put a sealant on them.I use Chemical Guys Wheel Gaurd on my Nismos,Poorboys also do one Wheel Sealant. You can find both here. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wheels-an ... cat_7.html Also what do you use to clean your wheels,as some wheel cleaners are acid based so over time it will strip the laquer off. LRF4N Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 never heard of sealant i take it it does the same job as wax? i tend to use the shampoo on my wheels after the cars done Quote
Jay Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Mate i think no matter what you do with chrome lip it was always deteriate! I used a sealant on my chromes and yeh it does work but with all the salt on the roads it still takes its toll on the wheels! Just keep washing them and dnt let the salt and grime build up on them Quote
clarkie34 Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Yeah does similar job to wax.It gives the wheel a barrier that makes cleaning them easier, brake dust will come off with ease once they are done. Quote

sunset350z Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I very much doubt it's chrome by the way. Would of thought they were polished alloy Quote
Jay Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 u got experience with chrome jay- u can do mine for me lol Yeh mate i have got chromes for my zed but they are my summer wheels! Quote
DJsickboy Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Does the polished lip have a laquer on it? if not then Autosol may bring them back.. Mine are suffering and I was thinking about the same question so good call Quote
Stew Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I'm putting a PTG on mine to check what I can do.... The lips are fine, just some brake pad fall out has stuck to it! Quote
LRF4N Posted January 19, 2009 Author Posted January 19, 2009 ur right they aint chrome, just polished alloy sorry will look into this autosol stuff. was also thinkin of just regular wax to give it a protective layer?? Quote
Stew Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Autosol won't do much if it's lacquered. I'd check this first. If it's not lacquered then autosol might be ok (not sure how aggressive this is though...) and then some wheel wax. Quote
