WRX333 Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Is it unusual for a 53 reg 350Z with under 20k on the clock to have had the clutch, gearbox & flywheel replaced. Does this suggest it been battered? Would YOU buy personally? Please response asap as i am seriously considering buying the car this weekend. Cheers Quote
N1SM0350z Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Im probably the least knowledgeable on here but that doesnt sound normal! Someone who knows more will be along shortly nodoubt, but i wouldnt buy it. btw Quote
MrLizard Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 if its replacement parts due to wear then dont touch it, it could however have had uprated parts installed? do you know if OEM? Quote
Chris`I Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 if its replacement parts due to wear then dont touch it, it could however have had uprated parts installed? do you know if OEM? +1 - its not normal but it depends on the circumstances. If its under normal wear and tear, then thats far too early. If its been uprated, then fine, and equally, if the OEM bits were defective then its fine as long as it was done under warrenty (before it ran out). If its been done recently I'd be suspicious. Quote
M13KYF Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I would say not normal, think someone enjoyed the loud pedal too much Quote
WRX333 Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 Thanks for the quick replys guys, it seems they are standard replacement parts & not under warranty as current owner has the recent for £2800. Im seriously considering wheather to look else where. Cheers Quote
xStric9x Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I would have walked straight away bud, if it would have been just the clutch or just the gearbox i would have still been optimistic, but all three....no way would i consider it Quote
M13KYF Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 plenty of others about have you looked on this forum in the Z's for sale to the club Quote
Andy Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Might be worth looking for other tell tale signs as well such as pedal wear etc and check the paperwork to see if the mileage is legitamate. Could be that the replaced parts needed doing but the car has done significantly more mileage. It is a buyers market at the moment so I wouldn't personally rush into anything that you are not 100% about. Quote
martinmac Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I have replaced my clutch at just over 30k and I am assured thats down to my driving style and not normal. Plenty of others around Quote
I LOVE MY FORD FOCUS Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Wouldn't bother mate - he's ripping you off!! Quote
theman Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Go TIPTRONIC! Seriously, as mentioned above there are plenty of great examples available with no concerns or worries. Take your time and source a car you are happy with. Good luck. Quote
markyp Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 The amount of miles wouldnt worry me but the amount of work had would :-) Quote
