Rob_Quads Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 This morning I noticed the exhaust was a bit noiser than normal. Looking under i can see that it looks like its leaking on the backbox side of the join between backbox and middle section. Heres a pic after the engine has run for a few minutes Not the best timing as its entering my winter holiday time Quote
GIXXERUK Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 iirc bigphil is doing a good deal on clearing out some scorpion exhausts Quote
Rob_Quads Posted December 21, 2008 Author Posted December 21, 2008 BTW the other side of the join is completely dry I had seen that there are some scorpions around at the moment which appear to be the cheapest fix so far. Quote
xStric9x Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Exactly the same place mine split, if you don't manage to replace it before it goes altogether you will need some ear muffs The sound is awesome Ps I was told by big Phil that it would cause no damage at all if it goes Quote
Rob_Quads Posted December 21, 2008 Author Posted December 21, 2008 lol - doesn't sound promising. Was it just on that weld and then it just went. I guess due to how corroded the join is its a case of replacing it back to the cats? Quote

Mine was pretty much the same, had a scoprion on for a bit, is a really good bit of kit for the money , Go for it Quote
Adam@Z1auto.com Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 pretty common issue with age, especially if the car is used year round don't forget the Turbo XS full catback system deal we have (includes y pipe!) in the traders section Quote
Fletch Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 I guess due to how corroded the join is its a case of replacing it back to the cats? Just back to the Y pipe mate. Fletch Quote

Fletch +1 but i guess if your 3 quarters of the way there then i personally would go the whole way and get a stainless y-pipe (you'd be suprised how heavy it is) Unless you get something like a dc system which is from the cat back and has no need for a y-pipe. GIXXERUK Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 its a shame bigphil hasn't got some surplus Y pipes but i he hasn't listed any yet Quote
hawkie350z Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 My exhaust gave it up on tuesday & broke in that exact place in Photo on first post. I am now in need of an exhaust. I would quite like to replace the "Y" pipe also. Car is 53 plate & done 62.5k Miles. Been looking at 2 on ebay, the Magnex cat back system & the Mongoose. Both look identical. Looking at these as just want something looking fairly standard & not too noisey but Stainless. Quote
