Pencil Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Hello all. I've been hankering after a 350z for ages. My dearly beloved FTO which I had for 15 years recently exited this earthly realm due to the dreaded rot, so I've been looking for a Z as a replacement. Been offered one approx. £5K, it's on 70K miles. It's quite a distance from me so I wanted to ask you fine people what you think of the underside - owner has sent me a video, which I've shared here via YouTube: It looks like surface rust (?) apart from the ARBs which don't look great (might just be a wire brush and lanoguard job though) and this bit (attached image) which is a bit more worrying. I'm not sure what/where that is though. Is it a concern, or perhaps just a heat shield or something (forgive my ignorance, I got to know the FTO intimately but I'm new to these...)? The arches look OK. Any opinions gratefully received Tim (Kent) Quote
Andy_Muxlow Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Hi and welcome along. You will do very well to find an old car without rust as you probably very well know. Some suffer from rot and some suffer from surface rust as you said. Most are fixable. This looks like surface rust and most of the consumable parts are replaceable. Good luck in your search. Quote
Pencil Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago Thanks Andy.... you're right, they're 20 years old so there's going to be some rust. I don't think this one looks too bad, but having lost my FTO to the tin worm I thought it worth checking. Do you know what the part in the image attached to the original post is? That's obviously more than surface rust, but if it's a non-structural part I'm not too worried about it. The car looks good otherwise Quote
