Engine Rebuild rev up

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I've stripped down a rev-up engine and need two valves to get it back up and running.

So a few of questions.

1) Where can I buy the parts for a reasonable price for the engine? (Two exhaust valves, the gasket kit, water pump).

2) IS there anything I should be specifically looking out for when rebuilding the engine (e.g. any thing I should be specifically replacing apart from the usual.

3) Does anyone have the workshop pdf with engine rebuild instructions for bolt order and torque specs to save me trawling the internet for hours.

Any other tips at all would be hugely appreciated. Can't wait to get it back together.

Hi James,

We have gasket kits available here: https://www.torqen.uk/nissan/350z/engine/gaskets/9039-350z-de-ishino-stone-oem-engine-rebuild-gasket-kit-jfs-00641.html

If I remember correctly, one or two of the gaskets are slightly different to the standard DE so you may need to order those seperately. Nissan do a Rev-up kit but it'll be super expensive compared to the Ishino one.

Exhaust valves: https://www.torqen.uk/nissan/350z/engine/valves-retainers-springs/27599-350z-de-nissan-oem-13202-8j10a-exhaust-valve-13202-8j10a.html

Water pump: https://www.torqen.uk/nissan/350z/cooling/water-pumps/26901-350z-de-hitachi-oem-replacement-water-pump-assembly-wup0038.html

The factory service manual can be found here: https://www.nicoclub.com/service-manual?fsm_download=350Z/Coupe/2005/em.pdf

Let me know if you need anymore help!

Hi Alex,

Both Ishino Stone and Victor Reinz are really good quality kits, made in Japan.

We have Ishino stone in stock, linked above and on sale at the moment if you need one.

Hey Coz,

Could you tell me more about this 'rev-up' kit please?

I'm stripping down my 2006 Z which was advertised as a rev-up, which I assumed was some form of special edition, but the HR (high rev engine) was standard.

Does this mean rev-up and HR engines are different and Ill need an super expensive rebuild kit

Thanks, Neil

Wish I knew how to edit my previous post....

After a bit of Google research I think there were 3 engine types DE, DE rev-up and HR,

So am I right in thinking my 2006 is a DE rev up and that's the super expensive kit I need?

You are correct about engine types.   The HR engine is completely different to the DE and DE rev-up and came out in 2007.   An HR engined car has the bonnet bulge.   AFAIK, to get a car from DE rev-up to HR is impossible.

HTH :)
