Driving in Wales

I have had one or two pm's today that have concerned me, below is an example

Hi mate

sorry if I sound like an old fuddy duddy, but wasnt sure if people will be racing on the day as looking at the posts seems to be whos faster than who or can I overtake kinda talk... problem is:

1.) Im not a great driver and was going to enjoy just cruising with the rest of the gang not really trying to race everyone as not my idea of fun

2.) Safety of my girlfriend is paramount and dont want to put her life at risk.

Is it possible those who want to race to identify themselves so that I can be far away from them as possible..

Really hope I dont sound like a party pooper mate, just not my idea of fun

Firstly this is more of a social meet but in our cars driving on beautiful welsh roads. We are effectively showing of our wares to each other and to the general public. The drive in Wales is nothing more than a pleasure cruise.

Safety is of paramount importance on the day, everybody attending will be expected to drive safely. There will be strictly NO RACING between cars, if there is racing and dangerous driving, these members will be asked to leave the drive. My experience of the Wales drives have always been good with no incidents up to yet, though there were a few close shaves last year.

The convoy generally moves along at a reasonable pace any how, there will be no pressure on anyone to go with the flow.

Part of the convoy might move quicker than another part, this is ok. Everyone as the checkpoints contained in the document and enough time as been factored in for each section to be completed in plenty of time.

If anyone wants to overtake that is ok too as long it is done in a safe manner that dangers NO ONE. A drivers talk will be given at Chester services on do's and dont's before the drive.

I dont want to be a party pooper but i really want everyone to enjoy the Wales drive out on May 11th but most of all i want a safe one.

And at the end of the day i want to see lots of smiles after a good day out :teeth:

Wise words Beavis, Liz will be controlling my pace in her own inimitable manner. After all its going to be a hell of a spectacle, wouldnt want anyone to miss it B)

Just a quickie to "old fuddy duddy" - please don't be put off, you will not be alone in not wanting to race or put your other half at any risk. I too will have my "speed limiter" in the passenger seat. Those who don't want to "make progress" can take up the rear places so that no-one feels under pressure. It's all good! :teeth:

We all need a reminder so good advice from Beavis.

Parking by this sign last year was also a gentle reminder that gave Mrs E a laugh

Seeing the dropping jaws and waves as we cruise through the towns and villages gives a real buzz, the last thing we want is the wrong attraction by driving that is best left for the tracks ;)

Nobody will want to travel that fast anyhow, otherwise you may miss the best part of the drive out...............................which is seen jaws drop when 30+ zeds roll into town  Though this year it will be 40+ :scare::headhurt::lol::lol::lol:

I hope my comments didn't cause this... It certainly wasn't my intention.

I gave up trying to race anyone yeeeears ago. That's the last thing I'm into and afterall we're all driving the same car (pretty much) so there's nothing to prove.

However what I am after is enjoying the roads in a safe manner. Normally when it's safe to do so, I will overtake people on a NSL road when they are pootling along at 45mph. Any more than that and it's not normally worth it. On this day out I'll be hanging back methinks.

Don't start on the photos....

If I had my way everyone would be up before dawn for a photoshoot on a mountain :teeth::shutup: It'll have to be dull midday light in a car park instead I'm afraid ;)

Why not have a starting sequence? 1-10,11-20,21-30,31-40 and 41 plus. This may give a natural order and help to prevent any 'clogging' up of the cars

The people that might want to be slightly faster at the start followed by the rest?

Shouldnt we have 'Qualifying' to determine the starting order :teeth:
