walkernet Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 I'm new to Z ownership, and have what may be a dumb question. On the roadster, when you press the button by the rear number plate to unlock the boot, should it lift up automatically. I press the button and it unlocks, but then I have to push my fingers in the narrow gap between bootlid and body to lift it up. Just wondering if the gas struts are meant to be strong enough to open it automatically ? Cheers. Quote
ZMANALEX Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 The Roadster boot lid does not open fully automatically. However, there are 2 compression springs to help it pop up initially. I have these springs and gas struts in stock if required for the Roadster. Quote
Jack94 Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 The gas struts aren't supposed to open the tailgate automatically, they're just there to make it easier to open and hold it up. If the tailgate doesn't clear the latch on the first press of the button you can try packing out the boot springs with a few rubber washers. Quote

You can't do that successfully with the Roadster springs I am afraid. Quote

Paul K Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 I managed to get a tap washer in my Roadster pop up springs but it made not a jot of difference Quote
