Evening all,

Just had a poke around the car today and wondered where the amp is for the BOSE system? Is it really obvious or very well hidden :headhurt: Anyone point me in the right direction here?

Cheers!

Ah ok, in one of them??? Can't actually remember seeing anything there...but there are a few of those cubbys so maybe I didn't look in all! ...or do you mean it's hidden behind the trim somewhere?

Will investigate more tomorrow

Cheers,

Steve

It certainly is, and not as big as you'd think!

There are actually two so you are both right :) The main speaker one is under the foam bit in the left hand side of the boot and there is once in the metal section behind the drivers seat which powers the sub.

Thanks guys, I'm missing all sound on the left, so wanted to track down the cabling and amp!

Had a peak in the boot and can see the edge of the amp behind the foam on the left. Couldn't easily remove that foam cover though (in the 5 minutes I tried!), seems to be stuck in behind every piece of plastic trim going? I guess I have to remove the back centre plastic piece with the light in it - any hints on removing this without breaking it?

Cheers,

Steve

I had the same problem and for me it was the Bose cd-player. Now it sometimes cuts all sound on the left, then on the right and then on both  Or it mutes it almost completely.

I honestly hate the POSE (piece of sh*t equipment)

If you have the left channel going, it is a known fault and not something people have rectified with wire checks so far....

Let us know how you get on! :)

Hi, cheers for the advice and info

Does anyone know if this problem is usually down to the Amp or the headunit? I've done some searching on the forum and most say it's solved with a new h/u - I assume these still use the BOSE amp?...or is there an easy way to wire up an new h/u direct and disable the BOSE amp?

AFAIK, it is a headunit issue. Replacement headunits will use the existing BOSE amp, yes. The problem you have with the BOSE set-up, is the output from the headunit (and therefore amp input) is at a different level to aftermarket headunits.

Speaker level (high level) or phono / RCA level (low level) outputs are what aftermarket headunits use. The BOSE amp won't work with these. If you change the headunit, you will need a PAC ROEM adaptor to still be able to use the BOSE amp.

Zedrush and others have done the same.
