Pop's & Bangs

Evening all,

 

Just trying to get some kind of consensus, I've recently had my HR UpRev tunned, the UpRev software enables an option to apply a switchable map called pops and bangs, I've heard that this can destroy OEM cats, is that accurate? Ive got the Cobra res cat back fitted.  I wouldn't want it on all the time, but every now and again might be a bit of fun.

Short answer, yes. Very bad idea.

 

The odd pop here and there is cool, but a road car doing it all the time sounds ridiculous imho.

Thanks chaps, will leave well alone then. I like the crackle and pop the A45's make but I have the feeling it would be much more dramatic than them.

to be honest I found the cobra resonated exhaust was just about perfect as it was - after a blast to get the exhaust hot I'd just sit there revving it and enjoying the crackles it made

Pops and bangs i find very tacky

My decatted Nismo exhaust pops and bangs on overrun and crackles quite aggressively when rev matching on downshifts, with the occasional spit of flame, especially when its red hot. I love it but its all natural and not 'engineered' in. That being said, when it goes in for an UpRev I will be getting the engineered pops and bangs put on because I'm a child.
