Pending MOT

HI All,

 

I’m running a 2005 350z with Japspeed 350z de-cats , Cobra y piece and Scorpion exhaust. I bought the car in May, and it was made clear to me that there were no cats.

 

It’s coming up to MOT time, and I have been considering buying some cats to put into the car. I have the following questions:

• Is it right that if the car is running well, it might not need the cat to pass the emissions test?
  
• If it fails and I decide to buy some, are there any that you would recommend, I can see there are a few high flow options at Berk Tech and Torqen, but there are a lot of options! How do I know which one to buy?! And will these pass the emissions?
  
• How and where can buy stock ones?

If it has no cats its an instant fail (cats must be present if they were fitted as std), personally if your happy with decats i would just buy some std cats and swap them back in come mot time as hfc's are not guaranteed to pass.

How friendly is your tester? Many people have passed without cats due to not using a grumpy tester.

I will explore that KyleR as a I have a few garages I use. I'll post on here how it goes!

I wouldnt highlight the fact is has no cats and see if it passes. If it does then great, if not then you know to find somewhere friendly or retrofit some.
