what options are there for swapping the shift knob on a 7/at also is it a straight swap or a bit involved/difficult fancy something a bit different

I think the GT-R knob fits, doesn't it? I'm sure that Adrian put that on his.

GTR knob needs to be modified to fit, but nothing very complex, it should be on my build thread.

I have a B2 one that I got from the US, I also made a M45 Infiniti one fit in my previous car , both sit a bit lower and feel much nicer than the stock one

 

Adrian was brave than me I didnt want to risk dremmelling and goosing up my shifter , but i did buy a spare one recently to try it out , the GTR one does look nice

I'm keeping a look out for a spare standard knob, going to see if it's possible to remove the leather sections and spray them
