coldel
My wife Rebecca is running in the Richmond Running Festival this year, usually she doesn't collect for charity for such things but has decided on this occasion to do so. Rebecca's family have a friend called Alie who was recently diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Being the super positive person she was, Alie set up a web page to talk about her experiences and decided even whilst this incurable and debilitating disease took hold it wouldn't stop her raising awareness and money to fund research being conducted into the disease by a team at Oxford University. Her goal was this year to raise around £50k, within one month of starting she was already £20k into this target and going great guns. Unfortunately MND can in many cases act fast and she was one of the victims of this, she passed away last week. Rebecca's page is here if anyone wishes to help her towards her goal, any contribution of any size would be so much appreciated. http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserProfilePage.action?userUrl=RebeccaDeller her page also contains a link to Alie's page which contains a brief but insightful view on what she was like if you want to read more. Admin hope this is ok to post here, just looking around at ways of connecting with people I know at the moment. Let me know if this is a problem. HaydnH
I've donated Col. Don't expect to much of a response from this lot though, they're obviously spending too much on their Zs: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/108670-charity-wedding/

coldel
Thanks both, very much appreciated. I was quite ignorant of MND until this, it is utterly devastating, that someone with no apparent previous health problems can degenerate in months and then be gone, and with no known cure at the moment its all about just how you make those months as pain free as possible.
coldel
To update those who kindly donated (and any that find a few pennies down the back of the sofa!) Rebecca is going to be running this at the weekend. A big reduction in chocolate and wine intake (its been tough!) and increase in 10k runs means she is in good shape for the weekend and really looking forward to it. Very close to target as well. Thanks again all above who chipped in will let you know how she gets on!
coldel
Thanks for all the donations guys, considering some of you have never even met Rebecca we were blown away by the generosity and the amounts people donated, amazing, thank you. Rebecca hasn't got her time back yet but unofficially we think its in the 2 hour 15 minute mark. Thanks again all Alfie broke ranks from the spectators at the finish line and acted as a pacemaker for the final 100 metres as well
