davedutch
Hi, Looking for a code reader, saw this on Amazon it's compatible with android devices and can be left plugged in, has anyone any experience? Also do all code readers provide the same basic info, not looking for anything fancy.
Apex
If it is OBD one or OBD 2 protocol then all the same basic info will be provided.
coyoteboy
I have one of these installed permanently in all my cars. Does all the generic stuff and some extras with torque in Android but won't do the dealer specific stuff. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00DY3EZSI/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1451675341&sr=8-3π=SY200_QL40&keywords=elm+327+bluetooth&dpPl=1&dpID=41V%2BCAIwSDL&ref=plSrch

Jetpilot, I guess at the price they are I have nothing to lose, I am going to call AA out tomorrow to find out what my current problem is but want the code reader so I can find out for myself. coyoteboy
That's odd - works on mine, but probably best to avoid it!
Ricey
Usually they won't work on imports either if memory serves. Not sure why Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Richf
I used to use a ELM327 but now use one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00H9S71LW/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1451740889&sr=1&keywords=obd+bluetooth This type can provide a much faster connection to give live data through something like Torque Like most things you get what you pay for

Not sure why Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk Jdm have a different code by all accounts. In all fairness after the hassle i was a bit disappointed with the info i could get, you dont really get much more than you see on the dials, i was hoping for, oil temp, afr etc The only extra i got that i wanted was air intake temp (handy for fi). Good for codes and clearing them though etc Edited January 2, 2016 by Jetpilot
Richf
You get AFR although its slow to respond and of limited use If you download the Advanced EX for Nissan in Google play you can get a huge amount of data and the 370 is fully supported https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ideeo.niadvanced&hl=en_GB such as * VVT Oil Temperature (*) * Base Fuel Injection Pulse Width * Fuel Injector Pulse Width / Duty Cycle * Mass Air Flow (*) * MAF Volts (*) * EVAP Purge Duty * A/F Ratio Adjustment * Camshaft Advance Angle (*) * Cruise Control Speed (*) * Cooling Fan Activation * A/C Compressor Activation * Idle Controller / Brake Switch

davedutch
AA been out today, said throttle body out of range, he reset and light is now off so good news, he said they get carboned up if only used for short journeys, which mine has been over the last few weeks so I need to take it out for a blast - good excuse if ever there was one needed. Oil gauge still doesn't move though, AA man says there is no problem with oil pressure and red light would have come on if there were so looks like the actual gauge is at fault. He also said obd reader wouldn't pick up the throttle issue! Edited January 2, 2016 by davedutch

syy
No I'm on Android samsung note 4. It's a UK car too, as I've read imports have more issues. I tried about 8 different apps, none of them would connect to the car. My phone paired to it ok.
