  1. Im not a paint guru so Im not sure what the normal process would be in such a situation - should they tinker with the paint to make it match? Do Nissan have different paint codes for different panels?
  2. Hi, Some herbert of a neighbour ran into my bumper and didnt fancy 'fessing up to it; so last week the grey GT entered the local bodyshop. No massive issues with the work, but the panel matching is pretty poor, and the issue seems to be getting the plastic (ie bumper) to match the rear panel and into the door. It's gone from a simple bumper spray into rear offside panel and door. At this rate I'll be getting the whole car done, but the bumpers still wont match. Anyone got any thoughts on this? Jon
  3. One of my neighbours kindly reversed into my car, and made a right mess of the bumper. So if anyone has one with the parking sensors in the grey I may well be interested. Otherwise it's off to the sprayers - but Im not sure how easy it's going to be to match the colour.
  4. My first proper car was a Honda CRX V-tec, I loved it's short stance, and characterful engine... the 350z looked like the nearest thing in today's market place. I then drove one a few years back on a driving day in Bedfore and from that moment, I always new i had to have one. Now though, the wife is pregnant... There's a lesson there for everyone...
  5. There's a black 350 for sale on Autotrader. Central London, Liverpool St, on at £11,000. It's black and the owner is going back to Aus' so has to shift it... (shouldn't have told me that) - so he's open to offers. It's got a few nicks in the paint work, little car park dents in each corner, and needs a service. So if anyone wants a black GT for 9.5 - 10k. They could probably take it off him, kind of quick... the wheels are std, and curbed too... Thought it worth a mention.
  6. In the market for a Z, so having seen this thread went onto Elephant. £413 for me and the wife (32 and 30) parked on the road. That's not much more than my boring 4 door saloon... That Mrs Treadmill drives... Happy days.
  7. A very brave post. But i know what you mean, I had a CRX (the proper one) and to start with it was a problem. But then it didnt have any power steering either, that was my excuse.
  8. Yes I did see the grey one down there a couple of weeks ago. I too thought the mileage was slightly high but then the engines should keep on going and going and it pulled very strong. Only reason I didn't go for it was because I thought the interior wasn't quite as well looked after as some examples I had seen for similar money. They may accept less than 11k for it. Only problem I have found so far is you have to travel for the right car. Went up to Suffolk yesterday to look at one for sale and then Manchester today (stopped in Birmingham overnight last night) - bl**dy knackered but well worth it. How's your search going? Cheers for the reply. I haven't ruled it out - but might go to auction to get one. I really want the grey, and is has to be a GT, and have the black leather. So it has the spec. Not massively worried about the miles as it's a second car, and i get the train to work so will spend a lot of it's time in a darkened garage. The engine on the Yeoman one did feel fine. Re the interior, I thought it was okay, but haven't seen enough to compare it to anything else.
  9. Lovely motor, well done, i'm jealous as im in the purchasing process. Interesingly Im in Sussex too. I don't supose you look at the one at Yeoman's in Worthing/Bognor. Still considering it, but it has 60k on the clock... enjoy
  10. with regards to the posts about auction prices a 06 and 56 went through last week, both GT's, one with a full Nismo kit. One made 12,800, and the other 13k. But there's 5% fee on top of that, plus a few other bits and bos to pay... These cars only had in the region of 13k on the clock... Hold on - i'll do this properly... and find the link. http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/to ... 0&t=630411 There - I assume it's okay to do this - Im a newbie... and still haven't bought one... but i will.
  11. One newbie saying hello to another...
  12. Blimey this isnt good. Im in the process of buying my first Z and went to a dealer down south at the weekend. When I tipped up the car was on the elevated inspection thingy, and the plastic pannelled doors to the servicing area were down. I got a bit worried that something was wrong and when I went inside they took 45 mins to get the car ready to drive. There excuse being the wheels werent on the car, as they'd started the servicing, and they had to get a technician back to put it back together. This was rubbish though, as you could see the rays wheels through the plastic doors when i had arrived. You know how sometimes you just know when someone is lying to you, well that really came through, and by time it was ready, the light was starting to go. Crazy. Gets me a bit worried that they're covering something up, but if they give me a years warranty then probably okay.
  13. Hi, New to the site, so apologies if this ends up in the wrong place... Am about to buy an 05 350z in Gun metal grey. The car is just short of 60k on the clock. It's coming from a franchised dealer so they're prepairing it properly. My only concern is that I dont know what should be changed at specific service intervals. Im assuming the timing chain doesn't get changed, but what about the other belts? And also, what's the likely clutch lifetime? Any help would be greatfully received. Jon.
  14. If you can take the head unit out, it may be worth doing so, and putting it somewhere warm for a few days. I once had a similar problem in my trendy MkII Astra. I stuck it next to the Aga my mum had for a couple of days (she was away). I did the same thing with ECU too, honest. Both worked afterwards... Shame the car was awful.
  15. Newbie posting here - so go gentle... Literally about to buy my car, went to dealer yesterday and picked the holes in the car that I wanted sorting, mentioned the gear knob looked liked a scuffed pair of shoes, and I wanted a new one - he said, that might take a while, like they had trouble getting hold of them. This was Nissan Franchised dealer by the way. It looked really tatty though - I can't help thinking a decent after-market one would be better.
  16. They haven't for a while. It was a joint meet with some bikers and some Smart cars but it has died off over the winter. There are a few of us this way now though, Rob down in Brighton and Mark aka 3Fiddy is close as well so we could start something afresh in the next few months in the Sussex area Sounds good, will let you know when the deal is done, and Im a proper z car owner.
  17. Thanks for the welcome chaps.... Hi Andy, good to know there are some locals, whilst using the search facilty i found some local meets in Cowfold at the cafe, do these still happen? Jon
