  1. Really needed an expensive part for my Zed after smashing it up - put a post on here and martin offered it me for postage only! I offered him £50 pounds extra and he said to keep it for petrol! Sounds really stupid but it really meant a lot to me!

Really top notch bloke.. think a few people owe him pints now

I'll have that £50 if its going spare? B)

I do actually need it for petrol

  3. I think I have the click, well pretty much convinced of it actually.

I tried to record it but it is not the easiest of things to do so here is the clip, quite hard to distinguish but recorded in a multi-story car park to try and capture the sound more easily.

Anyway, took to Nissan dealer as now just a few months out of warranty (isn't that always the way), very friendly guys but the summary as close to quote as I can recall is:

"we think it is CV joint making the noise, it will not do any damage just noise, you can try ringing Nissan customer services to see if they will do anything as you know of other cases where they have, they will then probably give us a call"

Now, this is not quite what I'd expected in some ways but that might be bad expectations. I'll give good old Nissan GB a call in the morning and see what they have to say.

    I'm guessing options are;

    1) it is just noise no damage but we won't guarantee it

    2) your cost tough luck even though car only done 20k

    3) we're come to some arrangement but you must pay something

    4) we'll cover all of it and get it fixed for you.

What do you think ? [perhaps should have run a poll as I know how to do that now]

Couldn't hear it in the clip.. does it sound kinda like a maraca strapped to your wheel (obviously not that loud though).. that's the noise i get

  4. I run decat pipes for a year. You get more sound but you will lose torque. In my case I lost 40ft/lbs & it does make a huge difference. Also you won't pass an MOT with them fitted so they would need to be removed for that. Your also gonna get a CEL & even with the non foulers in place I was still getting the light returning within 50miles of an ECU reset.

They are worth it for the noise but in the long term you are better off going for hi flow cats

Are high flow cats legal? also i heard that you loose torque even with the high flow cats due to lack of back pressure? Are high flow cats expensive?

    Decats a no no.

High flows still drop of some bottom end torque and are £280

OK. Well i guess thats a no then  Dont really want to lose any power!

  5. yes the battry thing, how'da know it didnt work??? I have just been around the block and she feels alot me reponsive and shrper, suppose that will die off! :byebye:

I know it didnt work because when i fitted my plenum spacer i tried the car without the air filter (just for a laugh) and the CEL light came on.. tried a reset via battery and the light stayed on. Did it with the pedal and the light turned off! :teeth:

  6. I lost my temper trying to count, so I did it the easy way (at the bottom of the page) :p

I couldn't get that way to work.. (are you on about disconnecting the battery and pumping the brake?) would have made my day a little less stressful!

  8. Hey all,

Was thinking of getting some decat pipes, first question is where do they go? Do they replace they Y pipe??

Also im pretty sure people DO drive on the road with them as unless you are gunning it past a copper they surely wont know and if you are gunning it then you are probably going to get done for speeding anyway! Has anybody here been caught?

p.s. missed out on some on ebay for £10.50 - got home and missed the auction by 20 mins! gutted

  9. One thing i did realise after I finally did reset the ECU is that when it says to pump the accelerator 5 times within 5 seconds, you must wait 5 seconds before you continue. ie. if you only take 3 seconds to pump the accelerator 5 times, you mus still wait 2 seconds before you start the next thing.

Oh and im sure that i had to wait more than 10 secs for the CEL light to start blinking!

Hard to explain lol.. hope this helps a little!

  10. Nope, I had the exhaust fitted for a month before the pop-charger.

The first thing I noticed when giving it it's inaugural revving was a distinctive pop-pop-pop when the revs drop again.

Yeah i definitely get that too.. Had my pop charger after the exhaust and it just finished the sound off nicely!

  11. I did see those on there but i've worked it out and at £95 x 4 for the wheels ends up at £380 plus £280 for tyres so thats £660, which is more than I'd want to spend on a set, as I could spend that amount on some dished wheels or something.

What tyres are you getting fitted for only £280?

£100/£120 a corner is cheapest I can find

Cheers for the pistonheads link, got beaten to those wheels by about 5 mins lol.

I bought some 17" 350Z wheels the other day off a member on here so they will do me for th time being.

As for the tyres. I'm looking at the Federal SS595, which has been recommended a few times to me. Good thing is the 17's i've just bought have got 2 of the Federal SS595's so I can see how good they are.

Don't do it!!!!! Tyres such as these are priced cheaply because they're budget in every respect including performance. At the end of the day it's your car and your decision to make. But a 276 bhp rwd car on cheap tyres is asking for trouble imo.

Not sure if he actually has a zed? Think they are for a 200sx?

Yeah I sold them to him for his 200sx!

I had the Federal tyres on as a temporary measure before I got my RAYS but I thought they were perfectly acceptable! To be honest i actually preferred them to the stock Bridgestones that have come on the new ones!

Anyway.. where are the pics of them fitted you promised me Daz? ;)

  12. What put me off was needing an aftermarket steering wheel... i think the kit is like £350, but then getting a wheel etc etc... i cant be bothered!

Well correct me if I've misunderstood, but from what I can see here there is a version specifically for the OEM wheel and better still it's the cheapest of all the kits:

    http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?model=350z&cat=interior&prodid=2835

Seems to me it's roughly £200 plus shipping plus fittting (which they say is easy).

    Have I missed something?!

That OEM one looks really cool! Surely there's gotta be somewhere/someone in the Uk with one!?

Also i read http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?i ... id=3731428 and someone mentions getting the valve body upgraded for faster shifting? Does anyone know if that would work - id be interested in shift speed mods even without the paddles!

  13. :welcome:

Car looks ok in pics, detail always hard to spot as you know.

Along with the comments above would suggest you check rear hatch gas struts are ok seems a few of these go after a while.

It is exciting going to view a Zed and I know it will be hard but try and keep the emotion and excitement out so that your normal considered self can check the car out thoroughly.

enjoy the hunt all the same

When I first went to see my Zed it was night time, and even though i had a second visit booked for a week later in the day time my mind was already set! took her for a test drive and put the deposit in the sellers hand! God was I lucky that she isnt a bag of nails!

So yeah, i agree that you have to make sure you dont let your emotion take over -keep your head!

  14. Did you have RAYS alloys originally with these?

I know its kinda off subject but if you can get the tool to remove/install i'd be interested in buying them off you.. my rays look a little too tucked in
