PaulR - think I keep seeing you driving down Stowell Street, you like Chinese food that much? If it is you, you a bl**dy brown as well mate, you need to keep out of the sun a bit

  2. It's a good idea if you can get it to work.

Why not buy a 2nd hand dash and fiddle with that, then if you break it no problem and your car isn't off the road.

Also, when you swap the dash, you have a new one to play with and sell on to prospective buyers (on this forum :teeth:)

  3. Bah, I think I'll wait for the DVD so I can fast-forward to the good bits (Robots and Megan). 2.5 hours is ridiculous, I mean who really cares about the feeble plot, all we want is robots kicking hell out each other for a while.

It's much the same with Terminator Salvation: effects good, plot feeble.

Incidentally, to reinforce that the plot/script is for kids in Trans1, there is a line where the big all-american robot (prime-thingy?) says something like "We lived with the Decepticons but they betrayed us". Always makes me laugh as, DUH!, with a name like decepticons what exactly did you expect you robotic twonk :lol:

  4. You could have one of KTA's top quality stainless steel knobs for less that price!

I have just fitted my SS one so technically have a black knob to spare. I was going to be keeping it to put back on if I one day sell the car, but I guess if I can sell it now as it's the same thing really. It has a little wear on the gear selector pattern, not excessive and you don't see it unless you look closely. The leather is just fine. Send me a PM if you are interested and I'll take a few photos.

    Cheers

    Chris

  5. My Stainless version arrived last week and I'm very happy with it :D

I was worried as to how the shape would feel when driving compared the the standard ball shape but I needn't have as its a dream to use. Gearchanges are much more precise which is especially useful for very rapid changes where I occasionally fluffed 4th to 5th. The gearbox has never been bad but now it feels even tauter

Fitting took about 60 seconds and the new knob tightens up and lines up exactly. It is a very professional quality. It's also heavy and this makes for a nice gearchange feel. Gears snick into place very pleasantly.

All-in-all I'm very pleased with what is a 'home-made' item, albeit produced on professional equipment, as it is as good if not better than anything available elsewhere. This apart form the fact that you can have pretty much any design!

  6. Do these cars suffer from MAF (Mass AirFlow sensor) fouling after filter re-oils? The oil destroys the MAF on some cars by burning on deposots and causes all sorts of trouble. The solution is to remove the MAF for the first few hundred miles so the excess oil can be sucked out.

Sorry Pimm, just asking, I'm sure it is fine really :)

  7. Coming out of my normal car park, a new post has been erected to stop people pinching a private parking space. With my usual cack-handedness I managed to locate the post with my first attempt :(:blackeye:

It doesn't look hideous, I mean tell me that's not too noticeable, barely visible in the right light, eh?

Oh damn. The plastic is easily touched up but any idea if than bottom corner of the door can be popped out and repaired? Maybe it's better top have it professionally filled? I'm not feeling flush this week after paying for the holiday so any guidance on the costs or where best to take it in the area, or even kind words, all gratefully received :console:

  8. Ha ha did they actually screw their one on to your Zed?

Not quite, they left it on the rear window so as i was gasping with rage I had the extra shame of having to screw the damn thing in myself.

Thanks to the kind folks who have offered a replacement standard aerial. Hopefully I'll be equipped with the long twangy thing very soon :)

  9. Some scrote has unscrewed my stubby and had it away, and yet bizarrely has left me their old aerial in exchange!

I am now driving about with one of those horrid twisty wire things you see on just about every other car in the world.

I'm not inclined to buy another stubby and become the local nicking shop for anyone who wants one, I never liked them that much anyway. Anyone got an original aerial that they don't want any more? I stupidly chucked mine away. I'll reimburse postage etc. :)
