  1. I shall do my best to get some pics of the tyre smoking
  2. I took the Zed out and went to an empty carpark thursday night. Just because I could and bloody good fun it was too
  3. Illegal is fine, I`m trailering it to the day anyway
  4. Thats damn good of you I am very interested in this. where are you ? got a postcode ? pm if perferable. Nige.
  5. 30th Jan If you get your new ones before then, drop me a PM, I`m interested. As said, poorer the condition (and lower the price ) the better
  6. Got a drift date boked in Jan so a #bump# was needed
  7. Clutch ordered from Alex, arrived very quickly. A pleasure to deal with Changed the clutch the other day, forgot my camera, so only took one crappy cameraphone pic Only areas I struggled were removing the gear knob. Jesus, that thing is TIGHT ! needed a pair of mole grips on the shaft then a mate to unscrew the top. Not obvious at all. Other was the sensor near the selector on top of the gearbox, what a PITA that one is . Best way was to slightly lower the box, then I could just get my hand in to unclip the connector, but, it was awkward. I`d never worked on the car before (apart from pad changes etc) and it took me and a mate 4 hours from start to finish, with coffee breaks. If you are a medium skilled diy`er and can follow instructions, its pretty easy. I managed to borrow a transmission jack, I think you`d struggle without one, probably end up with the gearbox dangling from the input shaft... Anyway, car is fine now, will change the clutch MC after christmas when my funds are replenished
  8. Believe me, I`m not happy about it ! As you can see, I`ll have a go at Most things...
  9. Thanks for the quick reply. I have a Pit in my garage, so access isn`t an issue, I`m pretty handy with car DIY, but haven`t worked on the Zed before (apart from changing pads) I`ll get it sorted soon, don`t want to risk damaging the flywheel. Can you PM me prices for the clutch assembly and a Master Cylinder please? nige.
  10. Bought my 2006 Roadster in October 2007 (registered July 06), car had 9,000 miles on at the time. I`ve done another 10,000 miles in the following 2 years and its not 4 months out of warranty. Last service was at ESR before they closed. Was having a spirited drive over the A57 snake pass today when the clutch started slipping. I was in slow traffic, up a hill in 4th at about 2,200rpm, put my foot down and the revs rose to 3,000 (ish), then dropped to 2,800 to match the rising speed. Did it a couple of times and it was the same each time, always around the same revs. Arrived to meet some friends and let the car cool for a couple of hours, on the way home, the problem was still the same, I was hoping it was some heat related issue, but obviously not. I`ve done a bit of searching and there is mention of a faulty fluid return valve in the clutch master cylinder. Is this something I can check, or does it have to go back to Nissan ? I`ve owned several cars, never had a clutch go this quickly, obviously I don`t know how the first owner drove it, but I don`t rest the clutch, I heel & Toe on downshifts and am pretty gentle on clutches. My previous towcar was a manual, towed my trackcar on trailer for 60k miles and the clutch didn`t wear on that, I`m 100% it isn`t my driving style thats caused it. Obviously, I`m not thrilled about this... If it does need changing, I`ll be doing it myself, getting a new clutch from Alex but keeping the stock flywheel. Anyone have any tricks / tips to help when changing the clutch ? I`m assuming the Zed`s gearbox will be a heavy bugger, so I`ll get help to drop that.
  11. Blimey Sorry to hear this, but Phil`s health comes first. Hope everything works out for you and the Mechanics. I met you for the first time last week and your enthusiasm for the business was obvious to see.
  12. Fletch (Mechanic at ESR) sat in the car today and said he didn`t think it was normal either. I`m going to go to the main dealer AGAIN to try and get it sorted once and for all. It would have been nice to be able to go and say i`ve had other 350Z owners test theirs and not suffer the same symptoms.....
  13. Took my car for a 220 mile round trip to be serviced today. Still significantly cheaper then the main dealer after fuel is taken into account ! Andrew took great pride in showing me round their premises, they did a service in an hour and I`m glad I took the time to go there, I know it was done right. As Andrew said to me, please, don`t stop going for servicing etc, although Phil is very poorly, he would still want to keep helping the community by offering the services they do. Staying away because he is ill won`t achieve anything. The mechanics are very good and if Andrew is unavailable, I`m sure they will help if at all possible.
  14. Blimey ! Just seen this thread ! I was supposed to be taking my Zed for a P2 on Thursday, I rang Andrew to confirm yesterday, he said they had some issues, but I didn`t realise it was anything as serious as this. I hope everything works out for them.
  15. Your technique is correct sounds like a fault with the mechanism.
  16. Gary, This will be You I follow for a few laps then http://www.vimeo.com/2393752
  17. What were you driving ? not B73 BYE by any chance ?
  18. I`m looking for a pair of rear alloys, I`ll be putting on he cheapest part worn tyres I can find. They will only be used for drift days, so condition does not matter in the slightest. Kerbed, bubbled laquer, I really don`t care. Preferably unbuckled. Anyone got a pair that are beyond refurb laying around they would like to get rid of? oh, if anyone knows of any other model of car alloy that would fit, that would be helpful too. The more option the better. Cheers, Nige.
  19. NUMBER 12 Thats my fave pic of ours
  20. I think thats a compliment If so, thanks
  21. If its OK, I`d like to post these 2 photos of my Zed up for comment? The castle in the background on the 2nd one is Nurburg castle, these were taken on our trip there this summer. If anyone was wondering
  22. THE most fun i`ve ever had in a car I`ve written a full report that I`ve put on other forums, I`ll send you the link
  23. Had a set of 452`s fitted last week. Replaced the Bridgestones I`d been on the drift day, so the rears had chunks of rubber missing, the fitter removed the old ones, he said "f#####g hell, these are absolutely knackered, what the hell have you been doing to them " I was quite pleased with that Tyres still need running in, so i`ll see how they perform
  24. http://www.motorsportvision.co.uk/trackdays/event-details.asp?ProductID=4249 I`m not sure if any others from here have done it before, but i`m looking forward to it and will post a report afterwards Should be fun to drift the Zed in a controlled area on polished tarmac
