  1. I swapped the clutch and flywheel about 20k ago and gearbox was reconditioned around 15k so hoping its all good now!
  2. Well turning a massive negative into a small positive while the engine was out thought it was a good time to get the bay clean where I just can't get when the motors in and treat some of the small areas of rust, results below pretty happy
  3. Cheers struan me to! Probably not Womble but I'll be hugely relieved let me tell you
  4. Picked up the engine today should hopefully be fitted beginning of next week Came fully built so will have lots of parts for sale shortly Side by side!
  5. Think you may be right there guys, one of the mechanics said something about oil being in areas it shouldn't be can't remember what he said now I'll check tomorrow.... Suppose it would be a good idea to swap these gaskets out on the new engine I get then too.
  6. Found a engine near by only thing is that it's now out the car. Lad who's selling says he's upgrading to HR engine to turbo it and that the DE engine that's coming out is fine. Is around same age/miles as mine, seemed a genuine guy on the phone a lot more genuine than some of the breakers you speak to
  7. No offence intended to the Op but if shire350Z hasn't checked his oil level in 10 months (800 miles odd) then he's only himself to blame and not the guy who serviced the car. Missed this part out sorry, I checked the oil the day before I took the car out and if anything it was slighly high that's the other bizarre thing another reason why i can't get my head around it!
  8. Cheers Dave, I know what your saying Chris but it was ten months ago the service so to start insinuating that he's done that really wouldn't be the right thing to do especially when they've helped me out so much in the past, just got to forget how it happened and go for the new engine to make sure .....
  9. Well as I said I'm no mechanic Adrian but it's a local trusted garage who are family friends and the crank I would get away with grinding down that's not to bad two new con rods and oversized bearings and think he said pistons and top end would need either checking or rebuilding not 100% now. Heads mush with what's going on with work ATM to. The more concerning thing is where the oil went as there was hardly any in but no signs of loosing any and burning it. The lad who serviced it (there again I know him well and has always works on my zed) said it was correct when serviced around 10months ago and 800 miles so really is a mystery. So without getting into a rebuild of not knowing exaltly what it will cost and the 'oil mystery' Decided on another engine, had prices from £1200 to £2700 ideally I would like to hear one start up that's still in a zed so I can check oil pressure and listen to it etc, If any traders have engines and realistic prices then be good to hear from them. Had a few firms contact me as I put a request on 1st class spares but weirdly the place that seems to have most of them is Birmingham and there 'reconditioned' which think id rather stay away from and stick to a engine that has been running fine.....
  10. Gutted, engines terminal by the sounds of it unless I spend some serious £££
  11. As I just dropped it on them and there really busy there hoping to have it out by the end of the week, listening to it he's hoping that grinding the crankshaft and larger bearings may be enough but just guessing until the engines out. Parts I will definitely need are ..... Sump Gasket Oil pump Front crank oil seal Rear crank oil seal Then the sealant Nissan supply for the sump etc
  12. Jesus, how much! Let's hope it can be repaired 'if possible'
  13. Shows how long iv been gone, didn't even know you were a trader Adrian. Not sure if the parts can 'repaired' or wether it has to be all new bloody hope not!
  14. Possibly so dan, no sign of it going and oil was all good before I left! My engine knowledge is is pretty poor so got to see what the garage has to say.....
  15. Thanks guys Can't see that happening buddy just want to get it back right and enjoy it again! Don't want to go sinking a fortune into it, if I could have got decent money a while ago id have probably sold it but for what it's worth now I'll probably just keep it for good will be a rare beast in 30 years time.......
  16. Been a long time since iv posted or even been on the forum so it's good to be back! Was just hoping it was going to be in better circumstances with different pictures! For one reason and another my zeds done less than a 1000 miles the last year and been sat outside not feeling very loved. Now iv moved and it's got a lovely double garage to itself I gave it a really good clean Friday night and decided to head into the peak Saturday to give her a run out with a mate of mine in his motor! Had its MOT the day before and all fluids were checked and fine. So we'd been out for around a hour then all of a sudden there was what can only be described as a 'knocking noise' coming from the engine pulled up around 100yards later where safe but from looking at the engine nothing looked out of place. Managed to limp another 100yards to a pub car park where I had to wait for the recovery truck which was a big challenge just getting the zed on with how low she is and lack of front towing eye. Garage have looked at it this morning and believe its the crankshaft and bearings but until the engines out and stripped down they don't fully know! So was hoping to bring you some great shots in the peak and all I got was the zed on the truck! Gutted to say the least!!!! Just hope it's nothing to major and can be repaired. Will know more later in the week when the engines out ........

  18. Cheers mark will get it fitted asap and mine posted back to you, can you pm me your address bud cheers
  19. Remember those roads Colin from a few years back! Nice little cafe at the reservoir to
  20. Mine shall be on shortly which will go nicely with the rest
  21. Just got back myself, managed a cracking drive home with no rain Echoing what everyone has already said thanks to Graham/Colin/Darren and Will for all the effort that went into another great and memorable Wales
  22. Yes, seeing Lydia and Andy stood out when we were driving around the evo triangle in what can only be described as 'monsoon' conditions is definatley dedication (or stupidity)
