Nuff respect to you mate, yeh I do mma, I'm 26 got 16 years of karate kyukoshinkai and shotokan behind me, 7 years of russian wrestling and shoot fighting, 6 years thai boxing and 3 years Brazillian jujitsu and Im still just a mere beginner in the sport
It is pretty tough as injuries are a guarentee which means a set back in training. Ive been pretty lucky never had my nose broken in a fight but I snapped my left foot in half and had four pins put in and luckily its stronger than is was before I broke it.
I have trained 8 people for the cage so far and luckily they have all been succesful, am yet to do it myself although I did knock down karate sombo and thai boxing competitions for years.
Trying to keep stamina and power mass at high levels as you quite rightly said is near enough impossible, let alone taking pure agility into account as well.
In the season when I have to prepare, my diet consists of medium carbs intake high protein high glucose high vitamins, which aids me for energy performance and more importantly recovery.
For stamina I dont jog for long periods I mainly do resistance training which involves the heart and lungs to work at high levels. This would consist of running through the woods up and down hills with weights, countless of chin ups sit ups push ups with weights and kettlebells, skipping with weights, swimming with a bucket tied to me for resistance, running with a mini parachute, shadow boxing with wieghts heavy bag work outs, circuit training plus more...
Its the only way to maintain both stamina and strength although at the moment Im carry too much mass which really effects my stamina as soaks up to much oxygen. So need to lose a bit and get down to 14 on the dot. My weight is pretty weird, Im 5'11 measured my chest its now 48" I got 19" arms and a 33" waist so bit different to what it was two weeks ago Need to change and get my arms down to 17" is can dramitically improve punching speed.
We get drug tested so steroids and growth hormones are out of the question, Ive never touched it as its not required, if I was a pro bodybuilder I probably woul to compete but its never appealed to me to wear a thong on stage lol
Would love to do your training regime for a week just to have a bit of change, we should organise something
