  1. Yeah - spoken to Jurgen from JM Imports today already about sourcing me one A bit off topic but are all manual Zed's - including the JDM's all 6 speed? Just that Jurgen asked if it was a 6 speed I wanted? Is the other alternative a 5 speed on earlier / lower spec cars or am I getting mixed up??
  2. Quite a few fans of white on here then!! I'll search the web for some other pics of white ones and attempt to persuade the other half that white will be a good choice - she wants to get either a red or a grey one.... Is it true that there are only 6 white ones in the country??
  3. The washing thing is one of the things stopping me I must admit - I've always had dark cars in the past so white would be a big change. My dad had a white audi a few years back and it seemed to hide the dirt ok? I guess you wouldnt know until you got one...
  4. Yep they look !! My mind is getting close to being made up.....
  5. I've been stepping up the search for my first Z as my 25th birthday approaches (being 25 drops the insurance quote by over £170!!) and I'm being more and more drawn towards the pearl white imported ones I thought I'd decided to hang on for an early UK spec as opposed to going down the import route but the draw of a white Z is getting strong!! They look great on the auction sites and the picture of the nismo tuned one that was posted on here recently has really got me thinking now... Do you think from a resale point of view a white one would be a nightmare to shift or would the 'rareness' of the colour be a blessing? Would I be better going for my first option of a grey or black uk car instead?? Any pics that you have of white Zeds would be great!!
  6. Unless Im mistaken I dont seem to see any Brembos on it? That would tell me that it is a JDM Version T, especially if it has leather, bose etc - Im far from an expert mind you!! As a comparison I have been quoted circa £14k to import a Version S JDM (Brembo, cloth interior etc) via a few importers. I'd personally put the standard wheels back on and put the other ones on Ebay or something
  7. Maybe if they were a different style then they would look better. I'd be tempted to pimp it up Miami Vice style with a white on white look.... bet the brake dust would be a barsteward mind
  8. Looks good. Im very tempted to import a pearl one myself... Not sure about the black wheels though....
  9. I think your right - plently more Z's in the sea!! Im hoping that with the release of the 07 model this may force down the price of 53 platers into my budget zone. Not sure if I can be bothered with the private import anymore - seems a lot of faff when there quite a few already 'landed' so to speak. Off topic but how much would a replacement UK spec rear bumper be? Its just me being a snob in case I buy a Z thats already in the country. Not sure if I like the square plate on the back....
  10. I've been looking in my search for my first Z and have found a nice looking one on trader. Its a Sunset Import and appears to be ST spec however the original wheel has been replace by a momo one? I havent called the garage but I expect its just a cosmetic thing. If I wanted to retrofit an original wheel would it be possible? Its up for about 15k with Discount Car Centre by the way
  11. Hi, Im getting ever closer to going for a Type S JDM import through JC Imports or Bonsaicars. I couldnt justfiy paying all that extra for the ST when Im not fussed about leather and the Sat Nav sounds more hassle than its worth. My only concern is that the type S doesnt have traction control? I've not driven a Z yet so dont know how 'twitchy' they are? Should I just hnag on a bit longer and save up for an early UK spec one instead? Maybe a 02 or an 03 will be around the 14 - 15 k mark by now? Cheers Ross
  12. Thanks for all the welcomes guys!! Looking forward to gettimg my first Z in the next few months!! Chances are I'll tweak it a bit - anyone reccommend a place for wheels, kits, exhausts etc? Cheers Ross
  13. Nice one - I was hoping youd say that. Thats where I'll put my road angel in that case then!!
  14. Sorry if this has been asked before but Im just wondering if a JDM doesnt come with sat nav what goes behind the bit where it normally would be? Im looking at a few version S's and as far as I know they dont come with sat nav? Does it just revert to being a cubby hole? Also slightly unrelated - can the air con knobs be changed to the new spec ones with the nice ally stuff around the outside or are they totally different? Cheers Ross
  15. Hmm more food for thought. What are the none brembo's like? They decent? I would imagine pads, discs etc would be cheaper to replace?
  16. Yeah I've seen that one and been in touch with him a few times about it to get a bit more info. I must say it's one of the better ones in that price region but call me picky but its the lack of brembo's that is putting me off a bit. I just think that they look so much cooler with a big brake kit on them
  17. Plently to think about then!! I'll just keep searching the classifieds, top marques, trader etc etc until I find one. Id rather have one thats already in the country but from what I've heard JC Imports up near me are worth talking to?? If anyone hears of one please let me know.
  18. Thanks for the info so far guys - its all as clear as mud now!! I really want it to have brembo's but like you say if its just seats then a retrim for £500, exactly how I want seems a good idea. What spec of Jap Import will I be looking at if I want brembo's and a few toys? Do they all come with the screen? If not what goes in the cubby hole? I viewed a JDM up here last weekend which was fresh off the boat - the bloke said that the sat nav can be converted to UK and that it can be used as a multimedia screen - is that the case? Is it expensive? The buttons near the screen were all in Jap - can they be changed at all? Ross
  19. Hi - Im busy hunting for my first Z. Ideally I want one with full leather interior, bose and brembo's. Most colours would be considered. I dont mind if its a JDM import (as long as its fully converted, rust proofed etc etc) or a UK car as long as it is in good condition and has been well looked after. Ideally under 40k miles but would look at each car on its own merit. Tastefully modified examples would also be an option. I've searched pistonheads, top marques and trader but as yet there doesnt seem to be many that tick all the boxes whilst remaining in budget. If anyone finds any gems, or knows of one for sale please pm me or mail me at ross@rossandhelen.orangehome.co.uk. Im up in Newcastle but would travel for the right car. I also have a lovely mk4 golf gti turbo in case anyone woul take a part ex. Thanks Ross
  20. Thanks for making me feel so welcome everyone! Yes I intend to do a lot of resarch on any imports before I commit to spending any money. I'll look around on here to see what other people have experienced when buying an import. I've seen JC Imports on Top Marques etc and they seem to get a fair amount of stock. Bigphil - Yes that would be great - only really seen uk cars but at 18k or so they are a bit out of budget!! Thanks again
  21. Hi everyone, Im hopefully soon to be joining the 'Z' club but first Im going to be looking for some help off you guys on here. Im from up in sunny Newcastle where there doesnt seem to be many Z's about?!? Ive seen a few imported examples and they are very nice but Im not sure how much I should pay for one, or about what I should look for? Have many people on here bought imports? I've a budget of £15k - what will that get me?? Thanks in advance Ross
