  1. Thanks Dcash5, really appreciate that. Didn't want to go forcing something and buggering up a load of clips or something. Well, hopefully I'll be able to show some pics next week Cheers
  2. Hi guys, Just a quick question, I have seen the various guides to removing the dash on the non-SatNav cars however I have the factory Nav. Has anyone ever attempted a dash removal with Sat Nav, looking at fitting my new stereo this weekend if possible and noticed that the guides normally tell you to remove two screws underneath the rubber mat in the cubby hole but obviously I have a Nav unit fixed in. If not then I’ll try and take some pics if I can work it out for others that may be in a similar situation. Cheers
  3. Cheers guys, The Pioneer Website just says low level pre-outs. I’ll have a look in the box tonight (not really had the chance yet as had people over the weekend). I was thinking about trying it without but once the dash is out then I’d like to just have everything ready as may ask for help off a friend of the family who does installs. I am guessing he means that the ICT 20-273 booster will plug into the Bose side and then the non Bose adapter into that. Might be worth me ringing them and double checking. I’ll ring them and get back to you in case you are interested. Nice one
  4. Hi, Right, I have decided to go for an all in one Head unit with Sat Nav and Bluetooth etc so gone for the Pioneer AVIC F910BT. My car is a post 2007 with Bose. I’m now in the process of getting the connectors sorted and thought I’d drop an email to InCarTec to confirm a few things. One of the guys there has advised to get best results from the Pioneer (low voltage pre-outs) to go for the following combo: 29-645 ... Nissan steering control £29.99 29-020 ... Pioneer interface £9.99 20-273 Bose interface £39.99 ( 4 channel adjustment) Basically, I think this is the non-Bose loom coupled up to a Bose interface. He says this will give the best results for the volume issue. It looks to me like I’d be taking high level inputs from the head unit which would then be amplified by the Bose amps. Anyone seen/heard a similar setup to this before? Thanks in advance. Just hope the Pioneer is OK as heard some reports the touch screen can be slow. Apparently the F910 may be quicker though. Possibly due to firmware I suspect which can be downloaded to the F900 anyway. Thansk in advance
  5. Sorry for the late reply but thanks for the info guys. Thats typical isn't it about the delivery. Hope you get back to work soon then Don't think they do a rubber touch double din one so I'll have to stick with ICT or Autoleads.
  6. The roads are quite shocking in parts. I was nearly involved in a mini skid fest earlier. Two cars in front hit each other. My car started snaking all over the shop and then a Micra a few cars behind span out too. We just all hit a blanket of ice. Was glad to get back in one piece and park up the Z!
  7. Looks very nice and excellent for the money. Outof interest, where did you order the fascia from. Need to order a double din one at some point onece I work out what stereo to get!
  8. If you were to get my system we could hit it all in one go and get it setup properly Thanks Nurrish, I will get all the parts ordered for the stereo and once I know I have everything and I'm ready to go ahead I'll contact you to arange one of your Custom Nav units.
  9. If you were to get my system we could hit it all in one go and get it setup properly he works fast too ! here mine with the adaptor plate but you might not need it viewtopic.php?f=27&t=28706&start=15 looks pretty well sorted with just the plate that came with the HU. Thanks Yokomo, will get the facia plate ordered then I've got all bases covered. Looks like a nice headunit there! i gues sit just brand ot brand how lucky you get
  10. Cheers Yokomo at least I am getting there with the leads then. I don't think the Alpine uinit does slide so that might make things easier. Sorry to be a dumb a$$ but are you saying that that facia kit looks OK then? As you say I'd rather have it left over than have to take the dash apart again after! Cheer mate.
  11. Thanks for the advice everyone, as always some really good comments and views that I hadn’t thought about. I’m going to speak to Nurrish about his Nav module today hopefully as for this car I think I’d like the Sat Nav up on the upper screen. I think I may go for the Alpine as it ticks most of the boxes and like the look of it. Does anyone know if I’ll definitely need a double din face plate adapter to give a proper fit in the dash. I noticed people were buying them for the Pioneer unit but don’t know if this is model specific. I have noticed that both ICT and Autoleads do them on Sextons Direct. I’ve had Autoleads stuff in the past but never seen the ICT stuff. Anyway, so far, after looking at previous posts the things I think I need are: Autoleads or ICT Facia Adapter - http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/autolead ... html?cat=0 Bose Loom ICT 29-674 - http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/ict/p~29-674.html?cat=0 Will this convert the signal for the Bose amps as the link seems to focus on the Steerign Wheel controls. Steering Wheel Control ICT 29-001 - http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/ict/p~29-001.html?cat=0 to work with the above loom. If anyone would mind letting me know if this looks OK that would be great. Thanks again for your help. PS – The car is a 2008 Model GT with Bose.
  12. Right then, Have a bit of a dilema and wondered if you could help. I was lucky enough to get a new Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD Headunit for Christmas which I'm very excited about . Now I am considering changing this for the Alpine iXA-W407BT as it has built in bluetooth and comes with the iPod/iPhone cable but not sure what to do. Pros/Cons are: Alpine - Comes with built in bluetooth and Ipod cable and can be hooked up to an Alpine Nav unit at a later date. However thinking of getting Nurrish's Sat Nav for this car. Down side is no CD Drive built in so Radio and Ipod only. Pioneer - Does have built in CD/DVD Drive, I already have it sat here and it looks rather tasty! Down side is I have to pay out another £130 for the bluetooth and ipod cable and can't be linked to a NAV unit If ever needed in another car. Planning on keeping the zed for as long as possible mind you. Just wondered if I'm missing anything with regards installation and one might be easier than the other. E.g. gaps around the the headunit or compatibility with steering wheel controls. It seems the Pioneer has been used by a few on here but not usre if anyone has the alpine? Any advice more than welcome!
  13. Gutted for you mate but at least you are in one piece, it's bad all the stories you hear on the news. Glad your Ok!
  14. Thats shocking, sorry to hear that. Why won't they repair it, are they trying to say it's down to normal wear?

    Nismo

Very nice indeed. Will be good to see and maybe hear what you guys think. Would love a Nismo but just can't afford it yet. Maybe one day eh.
  16. Thanks for the reply. At least I know it’s not just me! As you can imagine, after just swapping the oil I thought, woops, maybe that was a bad idea. Yeah going back to the gearbox whine, I think it’s like Mulled Wine and only available in the Winter
  17. Hi guys Just wondered if I could ask for your advice once again. First time I have had the car is such cold conditions so this may just be normal but I’m noticing a slight whine coming from the gearbox (I think anyway) when the car is cold in the mornings. Now obviously it is very cold at the moment but so might be related to that. One of the reasons I’m slightly paranoid is that 2 weeks ago I had its 1st P1 Service and at the same time I thought I’d get the gearbox oil changed for Motul Gear 300 oil. The reason for this was that as you know the gearbox can be a bit notchy in the mornings and I had been advised this may help. Didn’t really seem to change it much at all but it’s no big deal. I take it the Motul stuff would still be fine in such conditions. So just wondered if anyone else had noticed this whining when cold. Seems to go after 3-4 minutes so guessing it’s not major but thought I’d check. Cheers
  18. Thanks Nurrish thats great. Take it you have used them before and were happy with them so I'll give them a call. Was thinking of waiting a bit longer but with the weather getting worse I may just get them done! Cheers mate!
  19. Hi guys, Looks like I need 4 new tyres (3mm left on fronts and down to 2mm on rears). Starting to think about where to go and wondered if anyone could recommend somewhere around Solihull, Birmingham or Warwick way. My main concern is I don't want them to scratch the alloys as had this happen once before on a previous car . Got Rays which are unmarked (apart from a tiny mark) so would like to keep them that way! Might try Eclipse Tyres in Alcester as this was recommended by a friend at work! As always, thanks in advance. PS thinking of sticking with Bridgestone RE50's as there doesn't seem much choice with regards sizing!
  20. Hi guys, Cheers for the advice, think I might look into the Motul 300v Power then but if not it will be the Silkolene. I notice the Motul talks about being for race cars but presume it's OK in normal performance road cars too! Nissan Birmingham told me 5w30 but do you think they could have it wrong? Mines a 313 engine if that makes any difference? Also do you know how much oil I would need, I thought 5 litres would be enough? Thanks for your help
  21. Hi guys, Got my first P1 due in a few months (working on my current mileage). The Stealers said they put in Semi-Synthetic Oil but a lot of 350z owners supply their own Fully-Synthetic oil. I have noticed a few threads recommending the Silkolene Pro S 5w30. Any particular reason for this brand of Oil over something like Mobil 1 or Castrol for instance? Also any clues as to why Nissan don’t go with fully synthetic anyway? As always thanks in advance guys.
  22. One of my best mates also has a 52 Plate M3 with SMG and all the toys. It's a lovely car and that engine is fantastic but also quite a different car (not actually driven it). As mentioned earlier the running costs can be extremely high if you take it to a BMW Dealer. Think he had a full service and a few bits put right (not covered under the £1800 a year Beemer warranty) and ended up with a bill of around £1700. I would guess you would be able to run a Porsche 911 for much the same? I bought a 350z this April and have been loving every minute of it. For me it feels more special, I like the fact is has 2 seats and although I agree the boot is not great it doesn’t really cause me any issues. I guess it depends on your requirements. If you do go for an M3 and decide to go SMG I have been told by a BMW Specialist in Earlswood that its best to get the Beemer warranty as if that goes it could cost a fortune and it’s a Dealer only job. You could get it serviced with him though. His name is Nole Buttler at NCB Autokraft. Friend of my Dad’s and used to get my BMW Serviced there. I reckon you should keep the Z though
  23. Looks excellent mate, bet your glad you went for it now. £290 at the end of it was well worth it and your effort has obviously paid off.
  24. Out of interest, when you say bumper tuck, is that so it shows off the silencer part more. Definiteily looks that way. How did you go about that, body shop job? Anyway, looks good and with the tips sorted will be spot on
  25. Mark-UK, Had my Black Coupe for just about two months now. Had a few surface scratches and the car was only 5 months old. Bought some Meguiars Clay but I knew I wouldn't have time so I left that stage out for now. Once the car was washed and well and truly dry, used Autoglym Super Resin polish to prep the surface before waxing. As mentioned earlier, this helps lift out any contaminants and can help remove light scratches (removed quite a noticable one off mine). I then finished off with a coat of Zymol Carbon Wax. Just another option but i'm sure your R222 stuff will be good. I would have liked to have given it two coats but even still, the car is still easy to clean and has a great shine. Also I used the Autoglym SRP on my wheels (after the were washed and dry) which fethced out the odd bit of tar that had smudged when i tried to wash it off and then sealed them with Porrboys Wheel Sealant which seems pretty good so far. For washing, I use the two bucket method with a grit guard in one bucket to clean the lambswool wash mit and have a different sponge for the lower sills where the grit and dirt gets stuck to the car more. Still got the odd surface scratch when you look at the paint at certain angles but I think you always will. If your new to it I'd start with the Wash, Polish and Wax method and see how you go. It will need doing again anyway so you could then try the meguiars clay. I'm hoping to give this a go over the next 4-6 weeks as never used Clay before and I'm intrigued. Good luck anyway mate
