i was going to mention the dual-boot idea, but when you said dont like PCs i though u meant eww eww eww nothing Mr Gates at all. . . . Ideally i would want an all in one Apple based system as the Frontrow software is perfectly suited to a car PC, just need some decent bleedin software on it now . . .at the moment the carpc thing is a been there dont that . . . got pi**ed off thing for me, although it can be fun, i realise there limitations, and i just want a simple setup now. My major annoyance is the lack of any decent MP3 headunits, be it ipod control or not, the GUIs can look crap, even on the newest decks and slow too, or lack features. Even the latest IDA-X001 from alpine i think is just to fill a gap in the market while they figure out how to intergrate everything properly. . . .

IC IC, but if you bought a Mac, why are you using Microsoft Autoroute 2007? Its for windows only isnt it? Jamie Hi mate I am using this software Autoroute 2007: I bought from http://www.gpsw.co.uk/details/prod3353.html for sat nav on my Mac Mini, although have not installed yet will do on friday and got gps recieve on bluetooth connection

So u have a windows based car PC installed already? I did a windows based Incar PC for my last car, it was a PC only install. Worked OK, but i got fed up at not having a radio with RDS and it crashing etc after S3 standby and basically just 'being a PC'. Considering doing it again, but with a Mac, running a mac OS, just dont know what the best Nav software would be Jamie

what sat nav software are you using on your Mini-mac? Jamie

WOW!- Upgraded the Ground- What a difference!
live2themaxuk replied to live2themaxuk's topic in 350Z General
With any 'audio ' related equipment, i have found it very important to keep grounds to the chassis and most importantly AS SHORT AS POSSIBLE, grouploops are a bitch and running grounds back to the battery DO NOT fix them, in alot of cases it just makes them worse. The cause is the way it which electricity likes to work, and the difference in ground resistance the audio equipment 'sees', when its connected to other grounded connected (via RCAs) sources. This takes into account cable length, internal circuitty and place where its grounded. It will then try and equalise the ground down what ever wire is connecting the two pieces of eqipment, usually Phono leads, this isnt usually a problem, but the problem is it passes 'A/C down it' from the alternator, and its this noise you hear as 'whine'. Jamie If not to the battery but certainly back to one of the key grounding points after the kit as been fitted. -
its gonna be really easy to cut as there polyurethane. Im a JDM'er so, aint my problem. . . . hehe:teeth: Jamie

Hi ya, that is the price. £250. Ill have to buy them myself and get them shipped to my place in London. He cant ship them to everyone individually and still offer a good rate of shipping. If you want to order through this guy directly, you can, but it will be £300 +taxes. If i have defo 3 people interested, i will order them. At the moment i only have 2, but ul have to pickup from London. I know it isnt ideal, but its the best i can do based on the circumstances. Just wish his courier would offer a better shipping rate. Hey Ive been installing my sound system lately, and im on the last stages. Today, i did the obligatory upgrading of the factory 'battery earth to chassis' wire. Just used some 4AWG cable and some soldered connectors, connected from the negative battery terminal directly onto the standard earth point under the bonnet. I cannot believe the difference it has made. I knew the factory wire was ****-poor but the differences i noticed were immediate, starting with my seat motors working faster. . . .seriously So far ive noticed 1)Fuel pump whirr is faster 2)Less 'Kangarooing' when changing down at low speeds 3)Smoother pickup through the rev range. . . . . . 4)easier to pull away 5)My seat motors work more efficently. . . This was only the negative to chassis wire, i wonder if i did the 'other' wires like to the block etc it would make even more of a difference. . . i dont know. . . Its incredible. I know ground kits are always a good thing to have, but after upgrading the earths on my other jap car (AZ-1) i didnt notice any differences in drivability , but THIS is something else. . . . In the wise words of Starsky and Hutch. . . . .'Dooo it. . . . . dooo it' You wont regret it Jamie

Sticky electric window motor - diagnosis help needed !
live2themaxuk replied to Stu350's topic in 350Z Technical
I am now a window motor expert. . . . . . i bought a spare motor off someone on here a while back which i still have as mine was on the way out. . . .but i followed some instructions on the my350z.com website for clearing out carbon deposits from the inside. reassembled the motor and reinstalled, and then have to follow the Nissan bulletin window regulator reset prodecure (which is well easy), and its working like a charm. The straining sound it used to have is all gone, working like the passenger side now, nice and strong. If you want the spare motor PM me Jamie -
Hi everyone OK ive got a quote back for individual shipments and the shipping would end up being the same price as the bumper, so all in it will be about £300 The price i got quoted for 3 bumpers shipped to me was alot better, but i would then be assuming all the risk of the order and it wouldnt be like a 'group buy' at all, which is unfortunate. So i think its best , for me, to act as a supplier, assume the risk of the order and say:- Bumper delivered to London for Pickup = £250 ( all taxes paid) If you interested, let me know, and i will order. Jamie

yeah still waiting for him to get back to me, hes abit slow. . . . + hes is a different time zone so, hopefully monday will be a better day 1)live2themaxuk 2)H5 3)D20NNY 4)asad 5)mugwump 6)Stew

Well, ive got a quote so far for 3 bumpers sent to ME personally, but i dont think thats the bes think, i dont fancy having to juggle money get stuck with selling them on, but at the moment the price is really good. Ive asked him to re-price for bumper+shipping as individual orders direct from him. Ill let you know as soon as i know. Jamie
-
Yeah very nice Dave. . . . . does it scrap at all over humps etc? any more pics?

When you say 'spats', do you mean made by another company etc? This is a 'Nismo' style front bumper, bit IMO its actually nicer due to its smoothness, thogh it woudl still complememt nismo rears and sides. OK so we got 1)live2themaxuk 2)H5 3)D20NNY Anyone else before i try and get a quote on shipping? Like a say vaugue interest will do, just trying to secure a shipping quote at this stage Jamie
-
This all depends on the shipping cost. So to run down, just to get a shipping quote at the moment we have 1)live2themaxuk 2)H5
-
They are only standard on the UK models. I have seen a genuine nismo (uk spec) and they just had cut outs, so i assume that is all that would need to happen. I love this bumper Black is immense gunmental looks good too
