  1. Thanks guys for all the comments. I will update with who the dealer is once I've got my car back (not that much is happening but I don't want to jinx it further). GIXER - thanks for your post I've left some stuff in the car including a full set of CD's so hope I'm not going to be calling the police when I get my car back. GC350z - Thing is assuming I keep the car (depending on how much of a hit in my pocket to get rid) the dealer I bought the car from is 50 miles away. I had great service during the sale etc from them. He discussed servicing with me and said he knew I had a local (8 miles) dealer but if I didn't mind the travel and a micra courtesy car they would love to have my business. I think they will have the servicing - might not always be possible to get that distance for warranty work. Trev - your spot on. The thing is Nissan is a japanese company and whether its a mind thing you expect top quality (the old Toyata/Honda effect). When I had my Ford I expected crappy service and generally it was average at best. But as my dad says the old saying was about Ford's and always getting spares/work done. My workmate has a Golf TDI 56 plate). When he rang for service booking the altered the car foc to do long life. When he booked it in at 18k 1st question asked was about courtesy car. He got rang when done - price spot on the money. His Golf gets thrashed to with an inch of its life every day. No faults, rattles, sqeaks. Maybe he is lucky but he knows he is going to get good service from his dealer already. We shall see what a new week brings but I'm not getting my hopes up for the 24th for the parts.
  2. Well I've left it with Nissan UK atm to deal with the dealer (they have already been in contact with the dealer). Still waiting to hear back from Nissan UK - the dealer is calling me Monday as 'apparently the dealer principle has to authorise a courtesy car). Yes perhaps I'm being too polite but they have my car, it's not driveable so I'm sorta stuck till it's fixed - Yes the dealer has treated me poorly imo but the fault is with Nissan UK not having simple parts in stock. Yes I could shout down the phone at them - I'm not going back up there as the more I have thought/dwelled on it the angrier I become and that would not be good in the dealership!! As has been said I'm stuck with the fact my car is in their compound now undrivable (don't want to melt the engine) so even if I could amazingly source the part nothing I could really do. Some people I've spoke to find it funny that it's happened over such as small item - of course they chuckle because it's a 'flash motor'. Others have the same opinion as me - get rid and never buy or recommend a Nissan to anyone every again (irrespective of how good the car is).
  3. Indeed I have. Apart from not bothering calling me back they have been as usefull as a chocklate fireguard I don't even know if the warranty will cover it when its eventually fixed so might have to pay and then complain to Nissan again etc to try to recoup costs. I will be writing a formal letter of complain to whoever I can at Nissan once the whole joke is over. I'm not a mechanic but can't they take it off the static in showroom demonstrator for example (or once fitted is it fitted). It just seems there's no backup and the dealer doesn't give a monkeys.
  4. /rant Hi All, For those that didn't see my other thread the fan belt shreaded on my 07 (313) whilst the car sat idling. Was a Sunday but thought no worries only a fan belt. How wrong was I RAC wouldnt and couldnt change (warranty issue & don't carry the parts). Fair enough tow to dealer sort it out Monday (14th) RAC diagnosed water pump seized (said it wasn't moving - the fan belt was still attached but shreaded in places) - and rear lift towed me (18" wheels struggle to get on there!!). Dealer - no fan belts - 18th at the earliest Today told - no fan belts till 24th at the earliest. So I am going to be without my car since 13th January till 24th minimum. Thats not even taking into account the 'disupted siezed water pump' and trying to find out why the fan belt dropped / broke on a 7month old 6k car. I have found the whole experience so far to be a complete and utter joke (at my expense). Some say I'm over reacting. Well if the engine was broken or some strange part I'd take it on the chin. But a fan belt???? I'm sitting here thinking if anything else is broken how long am I going to be off the road At the moment once I get it back I'm seriously going to look at how much of a loss I'm going to take to sell or sell back to the original dealer. Then I will go back to a boring hatchback that they sell more then 10 a year so I can get parts easily. I think the dealer network/backup and service I've received is p*** poor. I could have flown to Japan and got a part and back in the time they have wasted so far Stupid thing is I'm one of the people that 'not being egotistical' that would be considering a GT-R in a couple of years as a upgrade from the Z. Now I wouldn't even consider it. I guess all Japanese manufacturers are not the same. So to all you 07 (313) owners with the nice spanky 80% new engine. Hope yours doesn't need anything doing. /rant over PS Luckily I have my dads car as I wasn't offered a courtesy car. Apparently they will try to sort something next week.
  5. Hi, I got offered 1500 quid without even trying off list for a brand spanker. However I'd rather save nearer 20% on a nearly new one and get the other bits done later.
  6. KS2006

    Mpg's roughly?

GC250z - sounds about right - my 07 gives 12-15 round town coummute and 18-25 on longer runs (a,b & motorways).
  7. Hi Guys, Well I've been told by the dealership there is nothing wrong with the water pump (even though the RAC guy who deffo knew his stuff has given me written details of it being siezed). So looks like belt replacement only atm. Anyone got contact details for Nissan Customer Service as I'm concerned I'm gonna end up paying for a fanbelt replacement and then suprise suprise my engine is gonna go a knacker due to failed water pump etc. I want to complain anyway - seems crap to me 4-5 days to get a belt. Don't launch a car in May 07 with a brand new engine if you haven't got the backup. Also is it true for something like a fan belt that it would have to be done by Nissan to keep the warranty or could I have got my local mechanic who I trust to have done the job instead? As you may guess I'm fairly pee'd off atm (I know things fail but I don't expect to lose my car for 5 days due to a fan belt needing changing).
  8. Update, Well the RAC man has rear lift towed me to the local dealership. He checked the car before we left and the reason for the fan belt beiing shredded is because the water pump has seized. The dealer told me next day for the fan belt which has now turned into 5 days. God knows how much longer the water pump is going to take to get. I better get this done under warranty - I double checked and my car is only 7 months old. Wasn't even asked about courtesy car or anything and generally so far not impressed - lost a mornings work and won't have my car for probably a week I hope this isn't the sign of things to come in terms of service or reliability otherwise as great as the car is it will be adios and back to something sensible.
  9. Cheers guys Well I have now been told by the RAC that it's my job to contact the dealer and make sure they have a belt in stock and that it can be fitted. The RAC basically are gonna just do the flatbed moving. Wonder if it would be the same for a Micra. No doubt I will find out cos it's an 07 it will be a week for a belt or something ridiculous. I guess the Nissan RAC assistance is the same.
  10. Hi, Just over 6000 miles. The local dealer the car will have to go to will not be the dealer I purchased from (50 miles away) - though I guess that should not matter as if I can get it FOC it should be against Nissan.
  11. Hi All, Well had my car just over 3 months now (9 months old 07 model). Got to my sisters this afternoon - showed her fella the motor. Stood there while it was idling and hear awful noises from under the bonnet. Pop the bonnet and low and behold the fan belt is shredded Didn't have my Nissan assistance card but have a family RAC policy The told me the mechanic did not have a belt available. They then said as it was such a new car he wouldn't have one anyway and that he wouldn't fit it. It would be a warranty issue and would have to go to a Nissan dealer for fitting etc to maintain the warranty. So now I'm left with losing half a day off work as the car needs to be taken on a low loader tommorow to our local Nissan dealer. I am assuming that the RAC will sort things out with the Nissan dealer and that it will be dealt with when we arrive. I am expecting to not pay a penny to anyone but is a fan belt a consumable item and as such the Nissan dealer is going to want paying for it & fitting? So is this a load of crap or how it should be done?
  12. Yeah the icy warning annoys me as I too use the digital speedo all the time. Especially a week or so ago on the M25 when in the dips it was 4 degs or less and then on the hilly bits it changed so was on off I am still a noob but I did provoke the back end on my private road of course. I was a prat but was impressed at how quick the ESP reigned everything in.
  13. Westway wanted nearly 3k for the wheels + dunlop tyres when I was enquiring.
  14. My 07 in stop start traffic mainly for my small commute (3miles) and some quicker blasts at the weekend is between 16-17mpg so yours sounds right Please note I am still at the blip the throttle and hold the lower gears stage wherever possible
  15. When I got mine it was the dealer principles runabout (as was the other I looked at). They have to move them on around 5-6 month mark (they get a discount from what I understand as a 'demonstrator') but can't sell immediately as its frowned upon by Nissan & the VAT man I think Stay strong I walked away from one and a week later he knocked another grand off and the closer that car gets to 6 months old the more they need to shift it. Especially if its been driven by the boss as he wants a 57 plate car
  16. Well if you don't want a brand spanker then just shop around. A car I didn't buy but test drove had 4k miles on (Black 07 GT Roadster) and went for £26k. All I will say to you is I didn't pay that for that for my 07 roadster . The guy at the dealership said I had got a great deal on the car (a combination of luck and timing helped). I'm just glad someone else has paid my 5k+ depreciation for 4 months of ownership.
  17. Hi All, Following on from the other posting I thought I'd give my views on my 07 roadster that I have now owned for 4 weeks (tommorow). I haven't had a real wheel drive car (for 18 years) and definately not one with big wheels & massive power - I'm being careful on the twisty bits. Sure there is a bit of shake through the cabin/steering wheel on rubbish roads but nothing that would suggest to me - oh no made of cheese car! I've noticed the car tramlines a fair bit and deffo follows camber big time. I guess this is down to the wheel/tyre combo (the car has Bridgestone RE050A's on - not sure what I will change to when the time comes). Looks - top down I think looks awesome. Top up - not as bad as I thought - well she has a big bottom and a hump at the front- (the black eyed peas - my humps song always springs to mind - perhaps I should name my car fergie Engine - God I love the noise. Changing down to 2nd gear whenever in a nice built up area to hear the exhaust noise - I'm such a child. Tis a bit thirsty - I'm getting 17mpg now on my commute. Still if I wanted economy I'd buy a smart car. Did I mention engine Brakes - Superb. It's a bit rattly but nothing that I can't live with. I don't think the build quality is at all bad. Stereo - cracking - my dirty cd's skip so it's a bit fussy. Seats - great so far not done a really long journey yet. Heaters seem a bit slow or perhaps I have an asbestos bottom. Lights - I love the Xenons and I love the way it looks with the led's etc. Very cool. Climate. Excellent. Gets warm v.quickly and when you need to cool down works brilliantly. I have noticed the engine seems to hold a hell of a lot of heat after a run (even a short one). ** Things that annoy ** Instruments I know they put the rev counter in the middle on purpose (but hey I do tend to realise when I'm doing 7000rpm) but I wish the speedo was on the left. It seems crap on the right hand side and I don't think its very readable/usable. I use the digital speedo pretty much all of the time which brings me to another thing that bugs me. Why no dedicated clock. If I have the speedo on I have no clock!! Drivers side window one shot but no passenger!! This is annoying in the roadster as it drops the windows putting the roof up/down. So you finish being a flash git then have to hold the button for the passenger window. Just seems odd. Handbrake. My god it is crap. It's like hold the car on the brake then engage handbrake and then wait for the car to move back a couple of inches - wtf!! Overall though got to say I'm really loving the car and it puts a smile on my face when I drive it and thats what its all about Any chance I get I drop the top stick the heater on and just enjoy the day. You don't need to be ringing it's neck to have fun. I'll put the pics up this week - it was clean then Why of why did I pick a black car it's dirty as owt now :O As you may guess I'm super pleased with her and until a new model launches (a proper new one) I can't see my wanting to swap for anything else.
  18. For a free glasses guide there is a link off the network Q website to get a car guide price for p/x. I used it before I traded my Focus in and the dealer showed me his glasses printout and it was within 50 quid so..
  19. Thanks guys I'll give that a go and see. Its not in/on the paint its actually on the hood (on the edge which touches down and meets the boot area) which is vinyl so its a pain to get out (guess it soaks it up).
  20. Hi All, I decided to wash and wax my new car about a week ago. Got a nice box of bits and proceeded to make her shine. Never used a proper wax before but got stuck in using my foam pads. (Collonite 916 I think). A day or so later I've noticed the edge of the hood, front numberplate surround and a couple of other areas have a white waxy deposit. Its annoying as it looks super naff on the edge of the hood (rear end of the car where the glass screen is). I've tried hot soapy water, toothpaste + electric toothbrush, wax erase gunk and still can't get rid of it. I'm worried now I've damaged the hood in some way as it doesn't seem to want to disspeart. Rest of the car looks great though Any ideas?
  21. Hi All, From what I've read you can get the LMGT wheels in black but its a limited edition run. So what do people think of buying some silver wheels and getting them powdercoated (or something?). My roadster is black and I want black/gunmetal wheels as I think they look the dogs danglies. Can I get 19's and just bung them on with no worries or are there other things that need doing? Does it muck up the speedo, ESP ? Am I going to have issues with the brake calipers etc. Whats the deal with offsets & spacers? Any issues with rubbing or the tyres sticking out of the arches? In my 'tiny mind' if I put 19's on I will gain a little in ride height? This will help with my scraping issue and I get nice spanky looking wheels. Sure it might look a bit crap compared to what people expect but such is life Cheers Confused
  22. Sorry if answered anywhere else What wheels are they (size/spec) as seeing how wicked they look I think they deffo might be a 1st change to my car. I like the fog/driving lights. Does the front bumper come ready made like that or did you have them custom added? How have you got them connected up? (new switch or keyed with side lights etc.)
  23. I'm not convinced by the bonnet. But love the wheels, kit and those small front lights v.tasty
  24. I'd go to a Nissan dealer and ask them to be honest. When I was looking I told one dealer I could get 1500 quid off and he said he would pretty much be able to match it. Check out official dealerships like Sunwin, Westway, Holdcroft and Mossrose Motors. Might get a slightly better deal as cash only. I got an ex-demo model 313 (4 months old) and tbh I'm glad I did. The saving on new was a hell of a lot for 4700 miles.
  25. I got some megiars wheel cleaner (hot rims) and the poorboys wheel sealant (seemed to be fairly well rated on detailingworld - the best the said was Jetseal but I couldn't find anywhere with stock). Got all my cleaning stuff from www.elitecarcar.co.uk. Ordered Friday arrived Monday so fast Found em on a google search. Can't say how good it is yet as I have not used it yet as only got it Monday and not had time to clean the car yet - Saturday if the weather holds. Only had the car 6 days - the boot has my paw prints on and the wheels are grubby as owt Why did I pick black
