  1. It was the 3l (only 2 xhausts). Z4M is 10k more anyway. I like the way they said the Bimmer was 2k more (yeah with like nothing onboard). I'm not biased in anyway whatso ever The Z is the 1st car I've owned (and I love my music) where I don't seem to switch the stereo on very often - I wonder why Good to see it driven hard anyway!!
  2. First car I drove after passing my test was my dads Ford Escort MK2 GT. Then the 1st car I owned was a black fiat Panda 999cc powerhouse - didn't really go wrong (didn't have much to go wrong) but I was the only one of us with license/car so no 1 complained too much
  3. Hmm I'll try to explain (my paint skillz are rubbish otherwise I'd try to draw a piccy). Coming off the road onto the drop kerb is fine. However there is a 'hump' where the tarmac of the footpath meets the driveway. The car is bottoming out on the tarmac hump. If you think of driving your car over a flatish triangle. There is a sweet spot (which is where its rubbing) because the front of the car is just that tiny bit too low. I just need to raise the front of the car I guess when reversing so the sweet spot doesn't catch. Hence trying bits of wood is next. We are of course limited in what we can do as its not our property (the side that scrapes). I don't fancy paying a couple of grand to get it all fixed so nextdoors get a nice paved driveway for free (they have crap cars so don't give a monkeys - and its rented property). As far as I can see my alternatives are 1 - Let it scrape until its worn enough (car & tarmac) or I knacker something on the car. 2 - Bits of wood 3 - New driveway 4 - Different Exhaust. 5 - Suspension changes (higher/air/adjustable). 6 - Get rid of the car and go and buy a nissan navara If I knew what was under the bit thats scraping or could get a shield I wouldn't be worried.
  4. Hi All, Starting to get worried now about my Z scraping the drive - when I reverse out (if I come out forwards its worse) the exhaust is scraping. Seems fine when I drive in (probably the balance of the car). I need to add that the driveway is a shared driveway - our side is block paved and the neighbours is gravel. The side causing the issue is the neigbours side. I don't fancy paying a couple of grand to get their driveway block paved I can't get the car out completely on our side (physically impossible). I've had a look underneath and basically on the drivers side the exhaust is lower but its one particular bit thats causing my concern. I can only describe it as like a metal gauze tube (similar size to a coke can) that seems to join 2 pieces of more solid exhaust together. Where its scrapped you can see sort of metal threads showing underneath . No hole or anything in it. So what does this do and should I be scared!!! Can I get anything to protect it or has anyone any ideas to help? How easy is it (horror) to raise the suspension. I literally need probably only a couple of mm. I don't fancy new exhaust bits within the 1st couple of weeks of ownership. I'm working on using bits of wood on the driveway n stuff but it has to be parked off road otherwise it will be 5 mins before vandalism occurs. Cheers
  5. Silver coupe coming from George Elliot area. I was stuck in the mega traffic queue I'm sure you waved - I was so in shock at seeing another car and blinded by the sun etc that I didn't wave back Next time I will try to bow & wave
  6. Cheers peeps After inspecting the tarmac it has a couple of nice scrap marks. Only happens when I'm reversing. It's something near the front drivers side I think. Gonna see if I can 'persuade' the drive to be more Z friendly. Only thing I'm finding difficult is reversing and its more to do with the amount of lock to put on to achieve well bugger all Guess its fear about dinging it Won't take long to learn. Why is it that you buy a Z then automatically see 2 or 3 straight off
  7. Hiya all, Not sure if this is the right bit but today I finally picked up my 4000 miles ex-demo 313 GT roadster in shiny (and very much picking up the dirt) black. Its been sunny all day - the top was down before I drove it away from the stealers. A nice trip to BP (nice is probably a bit subjective) and 70 odd quid lighter I drove the 50 odd miles back home. My car history isn't large (even though I've been driving for over 15 years). Most powerful car I had was a MK2 Golf 16v GTI. The Z is so far above that it just amazes me. Even pootling through 30 zone villages the engine note was enough to make me smile - let alone gunning it round some nice A/B roads. Definately gonna have to be careful in it. Certainly a tickle of the throttle is all it takes to be in serious deep doo doo. All my cleaning stuff is now ordered so hopefully a rain free weekend will help - pictures to follow weather permitting. I know for sure that it's been worth the hard work & overtime to get it now I can get on with the driving & enjoyment. I would like to thank everyone thats put up with my foolish questions over the last few months. Cheers PS Does anyone know what the lowest part of the vehicle is underneath? I'm for sure paranoid about scraping it down my drive (its a bit steep with a hump) and I'm worried that I might scrap something expensive.
  8. Hi All, Just been reading through the various shiny threads and notice a lot of people use this snow foam 1st before the shampoo stage. Is this going to damage or cause any issues on a roadster roof? Cheers
  9. Yeah I've got that issue. The Z was over a second faster similar time to an M3 CS. Mainly due to more stable handling and better brakes. They said if you got a 350Z without leather it was a right bargain.
  10. Yeah I noticed this at the end of last nights show. I really hope I was mistaken in them saying it was a Z4M - considering this is like 12k more new. I hope the Z wins not that I'm biased or anything
  11. Hi All, In all the excitement of sorting out my car I got into headless chicken mode and didn't ask enough questions Can any roadster owners advise me. If you park with the top down can you lock the car (and cubbyholes) without setting the alarm or does it prime the alarm etc? Do you have to do anything clever with the keyfob (like my Focus its 2 blips on the locking button - once locks, 2nd activates deadlocks etc). Also why are there 3 keys? Cheers
  12. Heh, Well my deal is all done and Thursday I pickup my 07 313 Black GT Roadster. No doubt it will rain till next summer now but I don't care

    MY07 Night Blue

Hiya, As I have been scouring the interweb for many weeks I've spotted a night blue coupe on Holdcrofts site for sale (looks black), and also on approved used nissan a night blue roadster (where it does look blue). I've been told that it varies in colour depending on the light (like temper I guess). What do I know - I've just bought a black one anyway
  14. Spotted this morning after I finished sorting out my new car woohoo! Sounded great
  15. Heh, Ta for that - just wondered if you needed anythign special or anything needed silicon grease putting on it etc (I'm sure I read on the S2000 forum about certain parts of the hood mech needing attention though maybe the roof mech isn't anywhere near as complicated) - wondered if it followed for all vert's. Dunno about red face - I've got a shaved head so a hat will be in order. Got sunburnt just test driving a convertible a couple of weeks ago! Baseball cap - all I need is drum & bass and I'm sorted
  16. Hiya's, Hopefully all being well I should pickup my black 07 313 roadster next week It will be the 1st softtop I've owned and it won't be garaged (will be off road to keep sticky fingers off). Is there anything special required to look after roof (any special cleaning products etc) and anything I should be aware of. Hope the local cats don't take a liking to it Cheers
  17. Thanks chaps - at least I can do a small playlist in itunes and burn to a WAV cd-r. Need to seriously think about my ipod. Dunno about these FM things if they are really good enough. And the 12v locations for charging seem a bit naff anyway.
  18. Hiya's, Simple question as subject. Will it play my homemade remix cd''s (not MP3)? Cheers
  19. Hi All, Just wondering if anyone has one of these and if so what size fits the Z steering wheel? I know I could go to halfrauds or something but the internet saves you money Cheers
  20. Hopefully not being a pain for asking this question. I see most people source the BT adaptor from classifieds on here and ebay as its way cheaper/easier than a dealer. The question is where does the BT adaptor plug in? I thought it plugged into one of the little cubby holes but when looking at the dealer demonstrator it didn't have any wiring anywhere. Is this an extra when you buy new or should it be standard. (the wire not the adaptor). Or am I getting my wires crossed

    o my god!!!

No its the first Z I've driven. I can only go by my dads Focus estate (we take the dog in it etc) and its still in v.good condition after 8 odd years. I can't imagine the Nissan being that much cheaper. Perhaps like the golf bag sticker I should when I get one put a sticker up "no food/drinks on pain of deather" I've currently got a normal Ford Focus. I remember reading on 1 thread about the clutch on the Z being light. Well not imo - it wasn't mega heavy but it certainly wasn't ultra light!! The salesman did tell me on the earlier models it was a beat more beasty.
  22. The one I test drove I started like I normally start the cars which is with the clutch in (no brake). It needed the brake pressed to lower/raise the roof that was all. And yes I was kangeroo man to begin with - sharper clutch and also the throttle is very sensitive. The thing I noticed was pootling along at 30 in 4th and press the throttle (impressive). By the end of the test drive it wasn't an issue. I was more suprised that I wasn't worried about width etc it felt easy/natural to drive not scary as such.

    o my god!!!

Yeah the new 309 bhp one. I made sure it had a bonnet hump

    o my god!!!

Well I had my test drive. I hadn't been massively sold on the thoughts of the soft top but in the flesh I was suprised how compact it was and I thought it didn't look so big bottomed Interior - well I'm not sure why people say low rent plastics etc. Seemed fine to me, Overall it seems pretty damn good. Some nice little features and touches (I like the vents in the doors, the digital speedo you can have etc). The drive. Well that sold it for me. Once the engine was running I found I was in 1 or 2 gears higher than expected and it was plenty quick!! Steering was superb not too crashy over the bumpy roads, good in stop start traffic, with the hood up suprisingly quiet. If felt more than solid enough but felt less open than the MX5 I had driven the day before (you feel more snug/safer in the Z - more substantial) - no hairdresser comments please!! I couldn't strike a deal that was acceptable to me so sadly I walked away to rethink a couple of things (basically the price offered for my p/x took the wee wee big time). Gonna have a look at a coupe this weekend and try to do a deal on a brand new one. I will own one before the year is out though - the smile at the end of the drive was enough to arrange that.
  25. heh you can just imagine them screeching into the car wash as a temper orange and then it coming out silver ;P If I get one it will be black and I look dodgy enough as it is - might be on 1st name terms with plod
