  1. To be honest I really dislike concept cars. They look cheap and stupid. Everything is wildly exaggerated, especially the interior.

I laughed at the SS when I saw the pics of the concept and laughed even harder when I saw it in person at the shows but the road going version does look quiet good. Interior isn’t great but could be a lot worse.

Three bad things that are noticeable are the dials in front of the gear shift, the shiny orange plastic running across the dash (looks like someone did a cheap mod) and finally the door handles. If they didn’t want to spend cash developing and producing them they could of got some flush lift up flat handles off some other model.

One little touch I noticed that I do like a lot is the little strap on the shoulder of the seats to hold the seat belt in when not used. Stops it hitting the trim when released. At least I hope that’s what it does.

In the end I stilll wouldn't buy one. Ever.

  2. It's always good to be in a minority of one - but [to me] that looks so shiny and cheap (although it probably wasn't).

Please someone convince me that carbon is not something you dig out of the ground, not something left as smeg on a fire, but actually has some intrinsic value

    +1

Alcantara is interesting though. I'd be interested in something like this. Especially in the cabin.

  3. Do you have a link to where Kimis statement s is posted?

There's no comment even remotely like this on Kimi's site.

Anyway, there's a few things to note from that amazing in car footage.

    1. The reaction times from both Kimi and Hamilton are incredible. It really sets them apart from the Sunday drivers at the tail end of the field.

    2. The Ferrari is a pig in the wet and they're lucky Massa finished at all to give them some points.

    3. It sounded like Hamilton was at full tilt coming out of the bus stop. I couldn't detect a change in engine note when he let Kimi by. This, I think, is what the stewards called an advantage. He didn't noticeably back off to reposition himself.

    4. Kimi should never of gone left to block Hamilton with a right handed hairpin ahead. Hamilton simply could not over take on the left. It reminds me of the same thing Massa did a few weeks back.

  4. Was thing about that one. I don't know what the rule is for run offs like that. Had the run off been on the inside of the circuit then it would of been an advantage regardless of grip levels as the distance travelled would be shorter. Is there a rule for out side run offs or is there one in general for them all?

I'm not a fan of run off areas. I understand they are needed for safety reasons but I'd much rather have kitty litter. F1 is the top level. If you make a mistake it should be game over or with a little bit of luck you manage to get back on.

Half the problem with F1 is that it's got too perfect. The perfect lap in qualifying. Perfect consistency in the race from start to finish. Perfect aero package. This gives us the procession we have today. The first fix was removing TC but as we've seen in the dry they are just too good. Next year will see the next stage. They'll be altering the aero to create clean air out the back of the cars. This should improve drafting and create more overtaking on the straights. I hope so anyway. If it works we should see the lead change in a close race a number of times over the hour and a half.

  5. I too believe Hamilton gained an advantage. I don’t however agree with the punishment. When watching it, myself and family immediately said he gained on that but would be penalised after the GP. We expected a grid penalty for the next race at worst.

I don’t agree with Hamilton and others saying that he was ahead going into the corner. It was a right hander with Kimi on the racing line going in. Hamilton was lucky the run off was there or it would have been his race over. For Hamilton to take kimi on the outside of the corner he’d have to be far enough ahead so as not to hit the car on the inside. He wasn’t and knew if he had held his turn he would most likely of been side swiped by Kimi who would have been unable to avoid him. He made the right choice taking to the escape but in doing so he should of put his hand up and backed way off knowing the investigation had already begun. Having said that, there was only 2 laps to go. He’s going to keep racing as that’s all he’s knows to do. The rules will sort themselves out later. The penalty is too harsh.

As a side note, the Ferrari has once again shown that it really hates the rain. You can see it in Kimi’s first spin and of course repeatedly at the British GP. It seems the lack of TC is really punishing the Ferrari’s in the wet.

  6. Can I step in a play devils advocate for a minute here.

This whine you talk about - do you hear it when accelerating or when off the power. If off the power this is normal for transmissions after 07. You should hear the Mazda Furai when the drive takes his foot off the throttle.

The crunch noise - is that when you initially change gear?

Not trying to say there's nothing wrong with the car. Just want to compare with my own Z experiences.

  7. Not sure I understand all of this. I've been with O2 for as long as I can remember and never once renewed my contract. When they ring offering an upgrade I refuse and remain on my original contract saving me money. My original contract is still valid and I can leave anytime I want.

I buy my phone outside of O2 because they cant supply anything I want.

  8.

None of the athletes are drug free

Remember when Ben Johnson got disqualified in '88 after winning the 100m? 7 of the 8 runners in that race in subsequent events/random testing tested positive for various banned substances.

  9. This reminds me of a line from a review of the game GTA4. Those that play the game will know exactly what I mean.

    “Trees! Stronger than steal.â€

  10. Based on the pics I'd walk away from this car as a repairable. Maybe you can get the parts cheap. And by cheap I mean real cheap. I can see already that you'll need, front bumper, skirts, fenders, passenger head lamp, right rear lamp unit, drivers door, drivers side wing mirror and drivers side washer bottle. Probable damage includes under trays, drivers side head lamp, front wheels (possibly), passenger side washer bottle, radiator, the small oil cooling radiator (think that's what it is or is it for the AC?), suspension, various mounts and air bags which cost a small fortune.

What's wrong with the rear license plate?

    Also worth checking:

The steering column is designed to compress during frontal impacts.

Hood is built to buckle at predetermined points.

The engine is designed to drop down and away from the passenger compartment in frontal impacts.

The driveshaft is designed to collapse.

They all apply to the MY07 but are likely to apply to previous models.
