  1. Lomoto Hi mate A large fancy plate on the exhaust says FUJITSIMO GIKEN CO LTD MAIN FACTORY and a small plate says: FGK JASMA and has a serial number on it. Any use mate? I know it sounds delicious and looks the nuts! Ming the happy
  2. My car is an 03 registered 52 plate. The 52 plate runs to the end of march 03 so it can be both. Kenny Where abouts in the country are you mate. I got a good deal on my car and am reasonably happy with the service and the PRICE. The car is in top condition and was as described but the dealer is in North Yorkshire Ming the Polisher
  3. Hi Guys and Gals A little advice from a guy who submitted a claim to the council and WON. Our local council sort out 'in house' any claim under £1000 and if it is as much as a penny over that they send in assessors and all sorts of legal folk to fight the battle. This means that the second option, even if you eventually win, TAKES A REAL LONG TIME. If your claim happens to drop under £1000 then it is a local office junior that gets the job and can have his arm twisted verbally and by letter and offers of 'full and final settlement' of the claim help een more to speed it up. How do i know? My claim was £1005 and I had not had this advice. At the end of it a council worker friend of mine explained the above and told me that if it under £100 it would have been settled 6 months ago Keep it simple, keep it polite and provide pictures and legislation and I am sure you stand a very good chance. Ming the Helpful
  4. I know mate. All his cars had them done like that. I am sort of stuck with it now though unless I want a large hole in the bumper Oh well nothing is perfect, not even my Zed. Ming the happy
  5. I just realised that I have got those on my car. Thought they all had them Oh well another little plus I didn't realise. Ming the lucky
  6. Well guys and Gals Took the car too and from work today and when I got home I thought the weather is nice ... hmmm ... I know .... lets polish her AGAIN. I know i know I polished her yesterday but what the hell you can never have toooo much polish on a car. This time I got out the Autoglym - my favourite - and put on a good coat of thier best polish. Twenty minutes to dry and hey presto GLEAM Whilst waiting for the polish to dry I decided to sort out the exhaust. It is a large stainless system and I noticed that at several angles the back box is visible. well now it is not only visible but gleaming. One of my neighbours, used to my vehicular eccenticities, was however a little surprised as he walked past and I was polishing the INSIDE of the exhaust pipes. I am suffering Bling withdrawal symptoms Ming the Happy
  7. What did you use on the leather? I used Williams formula 1 leather treatment and when that had dried and been polished I used some proper leather cream that is used on horse tack. When it had soaked in it brings a nice deep colour to the seat. It will take a coupe of sessions before it looks right but it is already lots better than standard. Ming the Patient
  8. Lomoto Hi mate. First mods are to be. External. Boot spoiler. Decided that it will be a small lip spoiler - Nissan standard - not the larger one I suggested earlier on. Engine bay. plenum is going to be powder coated cadbury's purple, the covers in the top right and left of the picture will be wet painted the same. The strut brace will also be powder coated cadbury's purple and the ends smoked chrome. The front engine cover and intake pipe will probably be carbon after market items and I might also replace the bottles for water and power steering fluid with new stuff. Inside the car. Custom mount for my Sat Nav/palm top. I am sure that there will be more. Ming the impatient PS I agree. Initially I thought it was slower than the GTO TT but it is a different type of power, if that makes sense, and it seems to be everywhere whereas the TT had it in a defined rev range. It also feels more planted and the steering a little more positive. this i suppose could just be that it is three years old and not 10 years old.
  9. Hi Guys and Gals AT BLEEDIN LAST. She is sat on my drive all shiney and clean. Should have been mine two days ago but another last minute hitch slowed it down ..... BUT ..... She is now mine. This is what I got and what I paid. Base model 2003 52 plate import with a stainless cat back and tinted rear windows. Leather seats and after market side repeaters. A grounding kit and 20,000 miles on the clock. Since it arrived it has been fully undersealed (Waxoyled) the front bumper and the whole of the drivers side of the car has been re-sprayed (absolutely cracking job now). She comes with a twelve month major mechanical parts warranty and a Toad Cat 1 alarm. £15,500 Today I have driven about 90 miles and at first I thought the speedo had not been properly altered to MPH. The car felt like it was not doing the speed it was showing. I had been following the Mrs so asked her what speed she was doing and Yup the speedo was right. I have owned or driven more powerful cars, faster cars and more scary cars but the Nissan is far and away the best PACKAGE. I got home with a chuffin great grin from ear to ear which i didn't expect. I can see that me and the Zed are going to be doing a lot of miles. I have been out and bought a great bucket of cleaning stuff and we have:- 1. Spent 1 1/2 hours treating the leather seats to get them softer and give them a shine, and cleaning and polishing every surface inside the car. 2. 1 hr cleaning under the bonnet, including actually under the bonnet. (This is just a starter until I get into 'bling' mode.) 3. 2 1/2 hrs cleaning the outside of the car. First I washed it and dried it, then I clay barred all of the car, except the bits that have just been painted. Cleaned the wheels. Polished the whole car, after a few little touch ups with TCut, and finshed up dressing the tyres. Then it was to damn dark to take decent pictures AR*E She now looks like she should and having examined the whole car there are two very small stone chips on the bonnet and one scratch on the boot and THATS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A few pics Engine before clean Engine after clean Front bumper with NO STONE CHIPS!! Arty pic showing clean car in the dark When I get a chance to photo the car in daylight i am sure the pics will look loads better. Will get some more when I have used the ultimate finish to give it extra gleam Ming the REAL happy
  10. Thanks for the replies guys. I actually liked it for many of the reasons others don't, the following of the lights being one of them. There are two other good reasons that may help me decide to go down this route. 1 Mrs Ming likes it!! (A big point in my humble opinion. 2. No one else seems to have done it yet and we all like to be a little individual. I shall get it and fit it - with pics of course - and let people see it. Worst case scenario it looks sh*te and I take it off and throw it away. Ming the independant.
  11. This sort of goes back to the point I was making a few days ago about generalisation. So long as the section was used for POSITIVE as well as negative entries then I think it could be very useful. I know some people who have been to a certain car sales place - I hesitate to call it a dealership - and swear by it. 98% of all the others who have been, swear AT it. The opposite can also true. As such it is always an opinion. How about incorporating good and bad GARAGES? Not all of us will be running cars with Nissan - or any other for that matter - warranties and good, quality, reliable garages are a god send. So long as people realise that this is a RECOMMENDATION and not a GUARANTEE then I do not forsee a problem. Ming the Considered
  12. I read a quote once from all people Arnie Swarzawhatsit. He said. "When I had a BMW I had to race everyone to prove I was faster than them. Now i have a Ferrarri I KNOW I am faster than them!" Sort of sums it up really. Ming the Happy
  13. Priced it up and it should be about £200 to the door plus some tax if asked. Probably about £100 to paint and fix. Some more pics to assist thoughts Any more thoughts? Ming the Hopeful
  14. Hi Guys and Gals Although I am still Zedless - hopefully only until tomorrow - I have been looking at spoilers and fancied doing something other than Nismo or Standard and found this Its called a Kaminari, well the firm is anyway! They do a pretty good all round kit but it was the spoiler that I fancied first. Has anyone fitted one of these and does anyone have any previous knowledge of this make? Cheers guys Ming the Interested
  15. Hi Guys Maybe I didn't explain myself properly. The guy selling the car is paying for the front bumper and the drivers side of the car to be sprayed. If I don't like it I just walk away. When I buy the car - if I buy it - I will get a spoiler and get that sprayed and fitted by the sprayer that I know (Not the same guy who is working on the car at the moment) and whilst he is doing the spoiler I will get him to do the other side of the car. and the rear bumper. This second set of paint work is all that I am paying for and I know the work of the sprayer enough to trust it. Don't get me wrong the paint work on the car IS NOT BAD and the fact that I will be driving a car that is only half sprayed will not show. Its just that for not a lot of money I will be in a position to have the paint work A1 This is all dependant on the quality of the work on the car when I see it at lunch time tomorrow. Hi lomoto. I agree. If sorted properly the car will be top dollar and with a healthy dose of Mr Mings 'Ming's Bling' on the engine bay and a proper 'Ming's Valet' on the inside it will look like brand new' Ming the Patient
  16. Bluffy heres the plan. Spoke to the vendor again today. The front bumper is fully sprayed. The paint shop agreed that the marks on the door were some sort of splashed fluid and that it had gone past the lacquer and affected the paint under neath. This means that the whole side of the car is being sprayed. Now this, if done properly, is a good thing as all the little scratched and marks accrued over the past three years will be remove If of course it is a poor job I just walk away and start looking all over again. If I buy this car then I intend to purchase a boot spoiler which will need painting and fitting. If I am paying to have this painted I may as well get the other side of the car and the bumper blown over at the same time so that I have a FULLY RE-PAINTED car at a greatly reduced price The sprayer is a relation of my lads boss and as such does us mates rates. It is fair to say though that he is still quite cheap when full price is paid. I will let you know or pop down and show you the results when it is done. Min the 'ever' hopeful
  17. . Another update. The guy called me this morning and told me that the car went into the paint shop this morning at 8:30 :smt023 The bumper IS coming off for a full spray and the staining on the door has cleaned off. this just leaves the minor spotting in the paint work which I think will still need spraying to make good. ( this I believe is what is going to be done. To be honest so long as the marks disappear and do not show i don't care how they do it. I have access to a guy who will do a QUALITY respray for the whole car for £600 if necessary) Hopefully this should all be completed by Monday. The vendor was very apologtic and helpful and in my opinion genuine. I will give him one last chance to get things sorted. Ming the Considered. One last thing to consider. This car comes with a full 12 months warranty. I will make sure that this covers the painted areas covering me if in a few weeks time it starts to change colour or begins to show. Tuesday will tell.
  18. Hi Mate I am TRYING - long story - to buy an import from a firm called JCI which is just off the A1 near Wetherby. There have been a few problems and i am not sure if it is their fault or not yet. I will be able to tell you in a couple of days my actual verdict. Having spent a long time on the net surfing I reckon for your budget of £15,000 you will be limited to a tiptronic auto, they seem cheaper for some unknown reason. That is right at the bottom of the price range for these cars and I do not think you will get a British car for that. Another £1000 will get you into the 6 speed manual range which is where I am. I have in the past imported a car through a firm in leeds - a GTO - and the quality was good as was the service. The newer the car the less the risk IMHO. I spent last night on a japanese auction site and the on the boat prices of these cars is unbelievable. The problem then comes with shipping, SVA and registration MPH conversion etc and all the other gubbings in good old UK. Good luck with the hunt and wish me luck. If mine does not pan out on Tuesday I might actually do an import MYSELF!! Ming the Brave
  19. Sarnie I know what you mean mate i am already looking on Autotrader to see whats about. I have nothing to loose though looking at it when its done as I have my money back. Could end up with a car almost fully re sprayed for no more than I agreed on to start with so I can wait until Tuesday. Me shall see Ming the Hopeful
  20. Sorry about the name slip mate. Not deliberate I assure you. I have never said dont criticise the profession, hell I do it every damn day, just don't lump 'all coppers' the same. There ARE some *****rs but there are a lot of very hard working consciencious, and dare I say it PROUD, guys and gals doing a crap job for average money and taking a hell of a lot of risks in the process. I too am an ex serviceman so i know where you are coming from. More important is how is your Dad? PS Whats a scroll buttom? I had a mental picture of something you sat on!! We ought to start that thread some day soon. Glad we have cleared the air. Ming the Chilled
  21. "does that mean you are not coming to get the plenum on Sunday ? " Minel mate. As soon as I have a car you shall have a visitor if thats OK? Cheers Ming the Thirsty (Mr John SMITH's now beckons)
  22. The Saga continues Contacted the firm I am getting the car from, JCI Imports (anyone had any dealings with them?? just off the A1 north of Wetherby) to be told that the documents are ready, the car is taxed and tested and SVA'ed and ready to go. The paint work that I wanted doing has been done (a largish scuff on the nearside front of the bumper and a similar scuff in the drivers side skirt) and the car will be in Leeds at 6 pm at the guys home address. I phoned the insurance company and paid £546 on my plastic so that I can drive it home and booked tomorrow off work (it helps when you are the gaffer) to give it a Ming clean and valet. I'm excited, Mrs Ming is excited, my lads are excited hell the chuffin dog seems excited. I get to Leeds at 6:30 on the nail. The car LOOKS great as we approach. We park up and do the normal walk round. All blacked out windows and BIG exhausts. I need to add here my brother in law tells it as it is. (Several spells in Jail help no end - see I like crooks as well ) The first thing we look at is the front bumper. The nearside is great scuff gone and no stone chips, all smooth and shiney then there is a sort of rough bit in the middle followed by a bit of a line followed by stone chips all over the drivers side. Bear in mind the bomper was given to him OFF THE DAMN CAR why did he only spray half of it??????????????????? AR*E. I then look at the drivers side skirt. Great job ... but wait a minute ... whats that on the door?????????? A patch the size of a dinner plate that looks like there is still polish on it ......... only it wont wipe off. Closer examination reveals three or four small blotches under the patch and some staining on the door to window rubber. We reckon that whilst spraying, someone has spilled a few drops of thinners on the door, realised, and tried to wipe them off. Only when the car was buffed up did it materialise leaving the surface lacquer stained. The car now needs ALL the front bumper spraying to remove the line and stone chips and the whole of the drivers door, the rear arch - there was a further blotch found on top of the wheel arch - and most of the front wing doing to clear up the problem. The final agreement was that I left with my deposit back and that the guy would speak to the paint shop tomorrow, find out what they are going to do and call me. When the car is finished it will be brought to me and only if I am 101% happy with it , and that will take some doing now, will I consider the purchase. Should the paint job be up to standard then my only concern is that in sodium street lighting the colour differential will show. Does anyone know a way to check this. I am the only bloke I know with two insurance policies for two different cars, neither of which I own and who has to go to work on a bicycle. Who has £00000's in the bank and no car to spend it on and more wasted days off than I even want to think about. Ming the Patience tested
  23. Hi Guys Jacko. Well put mate and a great bit of moderation. As Lomoto will tell you there were a couple of threads on the GTO site that either started or ended as a 'Lets all slag off coppers' thread. I vociferously defended my profession, one that I am very proud of I might add. It is also of note that I spent half my time on the site assisting in members dealing with officers who seemed to have acted inappropriately even in one case ASSISTING in the person making a complaint AGAINST an officer. I also assisted in numerous crime/police/domestic/A N Other problems which i did voluntarily and often at great length. Crikey i once spent 8 hours driving around Nottingham in my own car trying to help find a stolen Eclipse owned by a club member. I am more than willing, time permitting to do the same on here and i will give open, unbiased advice as I see it using the benifit of 28yrs policing (No wonder I can be grumpy at times eh!!) I accept that I may have over reacted, and I appologise for that, and yes I am touchy about the 'all coppers are wan*ers' attitude. As you rightly put it we dont say all IT guys are geeks or all plumbers/mechanics/electricians are arse*oles. It just seems that one bad experience amongst numerous good ones gets remembered. we are ALL too ready to complain when things are bad but forget our tongues when things are good. I am very thick skinned and more than willing to have a laugh with anyone, again ask Lomoto he saw a fair chunk of my entries on the GTO site, but I dont like personal attacks. If Blackie, or anyone else come to that, wishes to correspond regarding the ill's and massive shortfalls of the criminal justice system, the failings of 'policing' generally, the inability of the system to either treat victims fairly or criminals appropriately then i am more than willing to do so via pm or even in a seperate thread. I am willing to answer just about any question on any of the above so long as it is a question and not an attack on my profession. (Wanna know how to catch drug dealers? In 3 years me and my team imprisoned 50. Wanna know about dodgy DVD's music and games. Bit of an expert on that - don't mention pole dancers though!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I am new to the site and do not want to be seen as the new guy rocking the boat. I think it is a great site with lots of good humour and will definately stay around. Ming the Chilled PS Read the next entry about the car and you will wonder how I am so cool right now.
  24. Pray tell fine chap where the correlation is between you 'committing an offence and getting caught' (hell in your own words its a 30 with a gatso, how much more notice do you want of the speed limit ?) and me being a sexually deprived person capable only of personal abuse? I would like to say that LOL and a smiley face makes hurling abuse at me OK but it doesn't. Especially since you have:- a Never met me. b. Never spoken to me. c. Have no idea on my opinions on traffic law speeding and sundry matters. d. Shown your limited understanding of people generally by generalising a group of people made up of individuals from ALL walks of life. (After all your dad was one so is he an EX eFFin wan**r?) e. Managed to sorely **** off a person who thought that in the short time he had been on this forum that it was one of the friendliest forums he had been on in ages. (I am a member of three other forums and a visitor to two or three others) The whole idea of the post was to make a few folk smile and generally have a laugh at my expense but there is always one that has to bring up the "I hate EFFin coppers' Just think who you call when Your burgled Your car is stolen You are attacked in town Etc Etc Etc I could go on on this subject for thread after thread - and may yet so do - but suffice to say you hit on a sore point with me. I will not be categorised as I AM AN INDIVIDUAL!! I will not accept BLANKET criticism of a job that I am PROUD to do. Ming the Slightly angry Hey Lomoto Remember a similar thread on another site mate??
  25. Ming, you any relation to Stephen Smith, Rotherham solicitor/author? Actually read a couple of his books but no not a relation. actually only an adopted northerner having been here18 years Liam Just got back from poker and we had 32 players. We paid 1st to 4th. GUESS WHO GOT FIFTH Yup ME I am gonna go to bed and wake up in a different day!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ming the patient.
