  1. Bear in mind that the room will affect the outcome. Even putting a fan in front of the car is no replacement for driving the car, all you are doing is moving warm air around the car. To get a true outcome you need a properly air-coned room that keeps the ambient temp down as well as simulating the moving air.

As others have said - the amount you are down is nothing to worry about.

BHP is not something to get hung up on. Get out, drive the car. If it feels good thats cool. If not then give it a good service and that should sort it out.

Also bear in mind that while some filters/ exhausts may sound better it does not mean you will get a bhp improvement - some will even loose you some.

  2. I would like a new cd player with DAB and by still using the steering wheel control's, also to get rid of the tape deck and set up for ipod. Is there anything to choose from? Just to add i won't be changing any speakers.

You will find that the range with DAB is VERY limited. Most companies didn't bother much with as the market was too small.

Steering wheel controls is fairly simple - look at the thread in the start of the forum for answers

  3. I assume you are talking about the Firenze wheel in that fitment. I have one here that I have test fitted on my Z and imo, it sits very close to the suspension strut so you would need a 20mm spacer on it to fit properly.

How close is close? Surely being close to the suspension strut is not an issue as it does not change. Being close to the arch - thats a different matter.

  4. I found when comparing optimax against unleaded that while it cost more I did get a better mpg. It worked out it was about even but that was when petrol was around the 90p/97p mark

The thing that supprised me most was the month i kept the tank under a half. This added 2-3mpg overall.

  5. I've just got one of the Brodit pass-through holders to use with my Alpine head unit.

For the last few days I have been umming and aarring as to where to put it on the dash. Ideally I want to put it somewhere I can flip it into landscape for using as a Sat-Nav which is a bit of a problem.

  6. Mic just slips onto the head liner. The liner is very easy to pull down a little to feed the cable along it. The A piller trim - you just need to remove the door rubber and than can pop off. Then the cable can be drawn down to the side of the dash. Zip ti ecable under dash across to center console. Feed into the center console.

    Job done.

  7. I would not get hung up on the mic wire. I have just put in my Alpine 103BT and it takes less than 5 minutes to put the mic up by the mirror with the cable all hidden.

If you went for one with a cable I can highly recommend the 103 unit (replaced by the 113 but its 99.99 the same unit so cheaper to pick up a 103)

  8. I had my belts replaced just before the cold snap. As it started to get colder my belts started to squeal. It ended up they were a bit too loose and the cold weather meant it resulted squealing.

What does this mean. If your belts are old its because they are probably stretched and a bit loose. You can either tighten them up a bit (but this may break them) or replace them.

If your belts are in good condition just a little tighten up will probably sort them.

  9. Find a nice metal bit of the car - there are a few points around behind the stereo. Generally most screws that go into the chassis will work. Take a wire from that and then cut into the black ground cable in the ISO loom and connect it up.

Have you tried putting in the aerial (this is only good for a check) - this should provide enough ground to get the unit on.

    Those connections look about right
