  1. :welcome:

    Whats the cat thing all about? :headhurt:

    Is it educate Sarnie night or something?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schr%C3%B6dinger's_cat/

    Cats and carpetbaggers? Today 350z-uk.com is brought to you by the letter C!

    Just teasing mate, its one of those esoteric bits of crap I know that serves no useful purpose in real life. :surrender:

    Jesus, this is the first three lines of that link:

    Schrödinger's cat is a seemingly paradoxical thought experiment devised by Erwin Schrödinger that attempts to illustrate the incompleteness of an early interpretation of quantum mechanics when going from subatomic to macroscopic systems.

    :scare: WTF

    To put it in motorists laymans terms (very poorly for all you quantum guys);

    When your fuel warning light comes on you dont actually know when you are going to run out of petrol. You will either make it to the petrol station or you wont but you cannot know with any certainty if you will make it until you [drive there] (test it).

  2. Enough sabre rattling, I just want someone to tell me;

    o When can I have one?

    o How much will it cost? (I know they say if you have to ask you cant afford it but I do need to know how much to transfer from the offshore account! :p )

    o and WHEN CAN I HAVE ONE?!

  3. how often do you run the spybot.................

    do you also have to do it in safe mode.? :)

    You can configure spybot to load on startup, download its latest update and do a daily scan all without intervention from the user. So just install it, configure it and forget it. Leave it to do its thing every day.

    It doesnt need to run in safe mode, no.

  4. I go for a play in the wet on a nice big quiet roundbout every now and again to let me know what it feels like

    Which roundabouts should I be avoiding then Chris? I wouldnt want to meet you going sideways! :p

  5. I dont have a TomTom but for what its worth I do have an alternative satnav with TMC and from my experience its just OK.

    o The coverage is not great, both in terms of TMC signal strength in some areas and also the roads that are covered. Yes all the major trunk routes flag up but you may be surprised at some major A roads that are not. This can lead your device to re-route you onto alternative roads that are just as busy as the one you got off.

    o sometimes the information is just not useful/up to date. Just about every day the M25 lights up as congested all the way round. No s**t sherlock! but the information received doesnt tell you if its standstill or moving steadily at 25mph which might be the difference between jumping on for a juntion or two if you knew (this data may be sent to your satnav so it can calculate a faster route but not in a form you can get at!). Also sometimes the data is not very timely (sometimes it doesnt tell you a road in congested until you are already sat in the traffic, I have also seen 30 mile tailbacks on the M3 according to TMC when the road was actually clear because they had not updated the info for an accident 8 hours earlier).

    At best I find it a guide to tell me how long my journey is likely to take and will often switch it on in the morning before making a journey to tell me if I need to set off early because of an accident on my route, this is especially useful if travelling out of your local area as you receive national alerts whereas you only receive local traffic news on the radio/TV.

    On balance I am glad that I have it but its still in its infancy as a technology and you have to think what will happen as we migrate to DAB, chances are your TomTom TMC will become redundant in about 3 years so if you are happy with that ROI then go for it.

    EDIT: URL fixed

    If you have not hit it already the http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/ website is a mine of information on the TomTom TMC product (and others).

    A hookup to your Stereo antenna to improve signal strength is well worth it to improve reception or even fit a signal amplifier (again this is covered on the website above)

  6. Camping, mud, portaloo's and worse of all - where do you plug your hair straighteners in? No Way! The only way you'd get me near one of those places is if Elvis was performing! :lol:

    Its all changed nixy! When did you last go to a festival?

    The Virgin Louder lounge had a GHD tent where you could have your hair professionally straightened in a range of styles! Not my bag but it sounds like yours.

    Though it will take some effort to clean the mud off the Zed......

  7.

    I get a "rndc: connect failed: connection refused" when checking the status, I have tried disabling iptables and the rndc key is used in both rndc.conf and named.conf and google is no help........

    Hit it hard. :thumbs:

    It worked! :bangin: well not quite but I feel better
