    replacing cats

cheers booked in for Friday now I belive it should take about 1.5 hours? The garage has no experiecne on the Z but it looks simple, just the 5 bolts and the sensors anything i need to make them aware of?
  2. I'm on both forums and enjoy both places a lot however I find this place is full of northerners, surely a true sign that northern folk have great tastes in whipets, flatcaps, when there were nowt but fields and good cars. yours a northerner in exile
  3. hi all am looking to replace the cats with the kenetix ones this week, should i be able to get away with using the existing gaskets or should I get new ones? if new ones, anyone know where I can source them and what sort of price?

    how fast?

careful with the t's and c's with elephant I was looking at swapping over to them and whilst they ask for you to list your mods and thus load the policy they dont cover them (their wording) i.e. I have a UK GT spec with Rays allows and azlien (spelling?) leather - all things that are dealer options and thus under their site require adding on the policy yet their very wording suggests this would not be covered - i.e. they would only replace for the base GT spec? I suppose its worth someone calling to confirm but I cant be bothered swapping from my current company
  5. cheers MArk the things ok I just making sure its not going to put alignment out others, the + comes with spacers that go under the strut bar mounting points to raise the bar up to clear the plenum its on, its adjusted and its driving ok I was just making doubley sure
  6. get yourself and odbII (2) sensor reader off ebay, I dont have the link at the minute but will post later I paid 20 quid for mine from the USA and it works a treat, you can then see the codes yourself - look it up and then take it in knowing full well what the car is reporting and thus should help you get it fixed if you are near swindon/bristol I can come and use mine if you like
  7. surely it could effect alignment? Either way i'm under tension alright but due to the increase height of the strut due to the spacers supplied for it to fit over the plenum I thought it might effect alignment?
  8. By the way who,s Elizabeth Duke ????
  9. Guys when I took the strut bar off the other week it came off easy as it wasnt actually adjusted correctly - thank you pi55an service Would it be possible for someone to count how many threads are either side of the bolt so I can ensure mine is correct? I know the black blob has to be facing up but the number of threads either side is unknown - I've done it with a tape measure to the roof of the plenum but as I have a kentix+ I've had to make assumptions soooo could some kind soul count either side and let me know which side has how many? left of bolt = right of bolt = looking up the engine bay from the front? thank you
  10. yes, the rear end of the Jap car makes people think you shop at Elizabeth Duke the rear end of the gun metal UK car exudes class here ends the lesson

  12. i have the bose on the GT Teddy, I suppose I'm being a little grumpy today but with past experience of customer (lack of) service I think its always best to be as prepared as possible before going to the stealership. I'll give them a tinkle see if they have any internal/public tsb's
  13. oooh cheers, they are litterally round the corner then I might just give them a call/pop in for a chat Shall we make a groupd day out??
  14. now we all know that the unit in the Z is made my Clarion, however, I sent this email recently to the BOSE technical help team: I have a 2004 model Nissan 350z. I've tried to speak to my local Nissan dealer with regards to the CD's skipping but they have not been helpful. I understand that on the earlier systems that BOSE has recognised a fault with the systems and that my Nissan dealer should replace or recondition the unit. Can you please confirm this and tell me if there are any TSB's that either BOSE or Nissan can refer to? Thank you Michael I then received this today: Dear Mr. Burns, thank you very much for your note. We are very sorry to hear that you have problems with the CD changer in your Nissan. But unfortunately we have no chance to help out because this unit is definitely no BOSE product. As we know, the radio/CD unit comes from the supplier: CLARION. When your dealer is not willing to change/repair this unit you could also try to find a service point from CLARION in the UK. Maybe they would be able to repair the defective CD-player directly ? We like to point out again, that we are very sorry not to be able to help directly and we hope, that you will find a solution soon (maybe an other Nissan dealer ? ). Thank you for your understanding, we remain with now I accept what they say that it is not their unit but it is yet more pillar to post peeing about. I shall now forward the BOSE reply to Clarion to see what they say
  15. me neither but ffs whoever fired diamonds at these cars should have a rock up their arris. Its a joke, a disgrace.
  16. http://www.nissanhelp.com/Ownership/Bul ... 05-003.htm it is in relation to tyre dressings - now forgive me if I am wrong but didnt mine and nearly everyones nissan get tyre dressing before they were sold?
  17. cheers lew with that in mind is it possible to get gun metal in solvent form?
  18. it isnt legal but there must be tonnes of the stuff still laying around just begging to be used?
  19. yes, it was just an example though I am fed up of my paint chipping at the mere thought of bird @*!# hiting it at 70mph let alone stones. So I want something propper on it, prefably lead based to really **** on my grand kids chips
  20. sure was! 140 quid to change te oil? DIY! also I was a bit upset to pay 230 for my P2 service which is way more than the P1 shoudl be!
  21. out of interest, I've seen quite a few cars now with after market flip flop type paint... how much is it for a top quality respray as I am sure aftermarket painters would do a much better job any recommendations too? cheers all
  22. yeah its for track day use, the standard fluid boils way too easy as Giles (dark side ) found out. Mine boiled too but it was near to end of life anyway (changed for standard today). I'm hopefully booked in for the 12th which is the day before Goodwood so I'll be in a good position to give feedback from the 13th (so long as I dont hit armco)
  23. very very nice I had this on the scope too but the apparant lack of safety features put me off (after my smash I need safety!), however, my boss as the cerbera and it has a full race spec roll cage which makes the car very safe in a smash (heaven forbid!). Does the Sagaris also have the roll cage integrated? Lovely car, hope you really have miles of fun. Am sure the current issue with TVR wont be forever Is this a speed six that they use?
