  1. now I know some people have thought about ripping out the entire bose solution and installing fresh..... what I am wondering is this. If the bose system (thats the speakers) are powered from a bose amplifier and not the head unit itself, would it be possible to use a standard din unit with amp outputs and simply replace the head unit whilst retaining everything else?
  2. what benefit does the + really have over the v4 though? I have to say that the + runs very cold, it is even after a good run cool to the touch so it should off set some heat soak issues from certain intakes?
  3. all I can advise is on my current and past experience On my previous car I had replaced the exhaust and added an HKS intake, the sound was beautiful - you got a lovely suction noise from the front and a lovely sound from the exhaust under WOT. That was a Supra NA Recently on the 350z I have replaced the plenum with a Kenetic V+ which made the noise very sweet - not offensive but a lovely sportier noise. Then last week I added the free flow cats too, this has kept the noise low (82dB) but sounds very nice and burbly whilst very throaty at WOT. It is easy to live with daily and not offensively loud - just noticable and nice. I am now considering replacing the exhaust system too but for now this will do. I think I will add a pop-charger if I see one come up on here though just to complete the intake sound.
  4. excellent, I'm only about 3/4's of an hour from Sailsbury
  5. can anyone recommend a dyno in this region? I'm not after tuning as I have a stock ECU (stop it!) but would like to ensure the engine isn't going to eat itself
  6. cool effect, I must start reading the manual for photoshop
  7. because like a ****er I sold my k999unt plate on my old bike
  8. Very big the car is running 82dB which is quiet but it sounds just right, I might go for a true dual exhaust later in the year but as it is at the minute it sounds nice and sweet. The interesting thing is you can now hear the air intake much more than before, its akin to when I put an induction kit onto the supra (NA) a few years back It is a day like today that reafirms why I bought this car - on days when I think why did I spend mone on a lump of metal I can think of today! We should get a group down to goodwood or bedford? It is expensive but am sure if a few of us club together they will give us a discount?
  9. it threatened a few times but was just right all day There was a McClarren F1 there and quite a few bits of exotica - loads of them came up to talk to me about the Z though which was nice. Bascially they all agree its excellent value for money and generally got the thumbs up
  10. for that car I'd even look at 24500 its so new and so low miles and under a long long warranty almost as good as buying from a stealer. asking 21k is what I'd expect for a 03 model not an 05 with 2k on the clock
  11. well whether its better performing or not is open to debate, the throttle response is a hell of a lot crisper with the cats and the plenum and the noise isnt much louder
  12. Took the Z to Goodwood today. What a track! It is such a lovely fast track I was having a ball, I reeled in a 200sx and a 330bhp Skyline. The day was 260 notes and worth every penny, plenty of track time and only five cars on track at any one time. Superb setup and very well organised this is a track day EVERYONE should do at least once. The car, as ever, was spot on and handled very precise. Although I did leave ESP on the car never once triggered and I wasn't hanging around - with no run off area unless you dont mind a hefty repair bill it is worth keepit it on, I wasn't slow and as i said it didnt come on (Debate it elsewhere ) What a fantastic day, the car sounded so nice with the plenum and cats and the throttle response was 10x better than as standard! The noise it makes now is lovely, you hear the intake system bringing the air in - I think next mod will be a pop charger Here are the pics -> http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1985
  13. Some pictures of me at Goodwood today. All I can say is what a fantastic fast track - superb, do it!
  14. seriously why such a low price on a car that fresh?
  15. I'm going to try and get on a dyno soon to see how the engine is running before I think on a UTEC. Has anyone seen dyno graphs for a standard car with just the cats and the plenum? If so any links?
  16. funny old thing chip n pin been warning against this since NZ introduced it (only back there back then the banks instantly started to say if your card is used fraudulently then its your fault, no cover....) It should be combined chip and pin with a stored signature that the clerk then compares to the one you enter but this would cost them about an extra 10p per card so it costs too much
  17. oh and you were right about the weight! The two cats weigh less than one standard cat, how heavy are standard ones?!? no wonder they have a huge and I mean huge mounting bracket
  18. mark I let the garage fit them I told them to remove the mounting bracket as per instructions then said when fitting to gently mould the sheild away if it fouls there is certainly no rattle so job would appear a good un. Cheers Kev I bought them from space cadet for a bargain price, all in a great deal As for performance much the same as when adding the plenum, quicker throttle response but over time the ECU (DONT EVEN DARE MINEL) has quashed that a little On the track at goodwood tomorrow so will see, the throttle certainly is much crisper but with a GT4 engine I doubt you would notice (some mixed reports on plenum tuning on those engines)
  19. p.s. if anyone says UTEC I'll moiderise them, I'm not spending any more money for a while now
  20. I had been worried by other people saying the car is a lot louder with them on, I dont understand! The car is lounder but not annoyingly. It seems to match up nicely to the standard system and gives a nice deep sound and the sould it makes when you floor it is sweet!
  21. leicester is not north, north stops and ends in Lancashire and that other scum county. Owt else just aint rite
  22. http://www.visordown.com/forums/showthr ... 359&page=4 alas my mate cannot make it, he wants 190 for the ticket instead of the 260 it cost it is a full day on the goodwood track with tuition for free if required
