  1. Now I'm trying to find out which UK spec battery is best. I have searched previous threads but the best advice (from Lomoto some years ago) seems to be to squeeze the biggest one you can fit into the space. The problem is that the nearest suppliers to me locally are Halfords and I don't trust them to get it right! Anybody replaced theirs recently and can recommend one?

Alternatively, can anyone post up the specifications of the OEM UK battery?

    Ah -

    L/W/H -

    CCA -

Searching threads threw up this suggestion - can anyone confirm that this one will fit?

  2. I wasn't sure where to post this thread, so bear with me folks. Mods - please move as you think fit.

I ordered a replacement battery for my JDM, based on advice given in these forums.

This is the one I ordered.

    http://www.tayna.co.uk/Type-156-Varta-A ... P3204.html

When it arrived today, I unpacked it and took it out to instal it, only to discover that the battery in my car had already been changed to a UK type with the larger terminals. I know - I should have checked before I ordered, but I have only really examined the battery in the dark before, and did not check what the terminal sizes were.

I doubt whether the suppliers will let me return it, so I'm probably stuck with it and will still have to get a replacement.

I can offer this battery to any JDM owner who still has the narrrow terminals at a much reduced price. Please PM me if you are interested in it.

  3. Roughly how much does the carbon fibre wrapping cost or is it something I can do myself?

I was thinking matt effect paint too if I went that route could any of you chaps be gentlemen and post up a couple of pics so can see the effects of the various routes?

    Many thanks in advance

    Steve

The last time I saw Paul's car (P15ULT), he had the centre console smoothed and painted in a nice anthracite colour. I was thinking of doing something similar, because it looked B)

  4. Looked at the list as it appeared a few pages ago, and where people are from their signatures -

    1. Stew - Aberdeenshire

    2. Kenny (tt350z) - Ellon

    3. Dblock - ?

    4. srobrien - Aberdeenshire

    5. JT1703 ( John ) - Aberdeenshire

    6. Jason - Inverurie

    7. Chadwick - Bathgate

    8. maz - Glasgow

    9. Jim - Larbert

    10. chriswatson99 - ?

    Aberdeen area = 5

    Central belt = 3

    Unknowns = 2

A few others seemed to be expressing interest for later, but haven't committed to the list - they include Maxi, Jay, Vik54 and Jamie Moy, all of whom are in the central Belt.

It's up to Abbey to decide, of course, but somewhere around Dundee would appear to be the best location to suit most people.

    Hope this is helpful.

  5. Apologies if this is a repost, but I thought it was worth sharing......

A man walks out to the street and catches a taxi just going by. He gets

into the taxi, and the cabbie says, 'Perfect timing. You're just like

    Frank.'

    Passenger: 'Who?'

Cabbie: 'Frank Feldman.. He's a guy who did everything right all the

time - like my coming along when you needed a cab, things happened like

that to Frank Feldman every single time.'

Passenger: 'There are always a few clouds over everybody.'

Cabbie: 'Not Frank Feldman. He was a terrific athlete. He could have

won the Grand-Slam at tennis. He could golf with the pros. He sang like

an opera baritone and danced like a Broadway star and you should have

heard him play the piano. He was an amazing guy.'

Passenger: 'Sounds like he was something really special.'

Cabbie: 'There's more. He had a memory like a computer. He remembered

everybody's birthday. He knew all about wine, which foods to order and

which fork to eat them with. He could fix anything. Not like me. I

change a fuse, and the whole street blacks out. But Frank Feldman,

    could do everything right.'

    Passenger: 'Wow, some guy then.'

Cabbie: 'He always knew the quickest way to go in traffic and avoid

traffic jams. Not like me, I always seem to get stuck in them. But

Frank, he never made a mistake, and he really knew how to treat a woman

and make her feel good. He would never answer her back even if she was

in the wrong; and his clothing was always immaculate, shoes highly

polished too - he was the perfect man! He never made a mistake. No one

could ever measure up to Frank Feldman.'

Passenger: 'An amazing fellow. How did you meet him?'

Cabbie: 'Well, I never actually met Frank; he died and I married his

    bloody wife!'

  6. Its good stuff though. Its a spray on when the car is still slightly wet, leaves the car gleaming and contains carnuba wax and smells amazing. I love it - but then I never seem to have time to do it the long way lately!

    :lol::lol:

  7.

Cubby door - There is a screw either side of the cubby that holds a mechanism in, remove the screws, remove the springs & unclip the door

Is this the retractable, spring-loaded cubby you're referring to? I have that one but can't work out how to remove the door for painting it.

    Yeah :)

Right - I'll get back out tomorrow and have another look at it. Cheers Ian.

  9. Sorry if this is not quite on topic - but I have been trying to sort out a spare key for my JDM. I have read various threads on here but am still unsure if buying a used JDM key works!

I was under the impression that I could have a new blade cut for the second JDM key (bought off ebay) and then Nissan or other would be able to 'marry' the new key to my car's immobiliser.

Spoke to Nissan and another locksmith - who both said the transponder chip can only be used once and cannot be made 'virgin' again to receive a new code.

I am not deperate for a spare - and may just get a blank cut for access to the vehicle anyway - but I would have liked a second key which will open and start the car (but not at £200+)

Has ANYONE...EVER...managed to re-programme a used key from another JDM for use on their car?

Just when you mentioned the company who can retrieve the immobiliser code I thought this may be relevant to re-programming the spare key.

    Alan.

My car came from Japan with only one key, so the importer agreed to provide a spare key. This involved sourcing a blank from Nissan, which was cut to fit the locks, then it had to be programmed at a Nissan dealer to match the immobiliser in the car. It must have cost around £200 in all, which I was delighted not to have to pay myself. So it can be done, but...... this key does not operate the doors remotely - it only opens the doors by turning the key in the driver's door lock, and it does start the car.

  10. 1. Stew - DC SportsTD exhaust, Injen CAI, Kinetix V+..... probably have a flutter on a few more mods if I'm doing an UpRev

    2. Kenny (tt350z) - Power Enterprise TT running Haltech Platinum

    3. Dblock - Japspeed k2, Japspeed Y pipe, (hopefully) Dc Exhaust manifold, K&N Typhoon, (hopefully) Plenum spacer (02 JDM auto)

    4. srobrien - 2005 UK GT, Pipercross Induction, Pure 5/8" Plenum spacer, K1, (maybe japspeed y-pipe) TOTALLY UP FOR THIS.

    5. JT1703 ( John ) - '05 GT , Powerflow Custom Dual Exhaust ( Cats back ) , JWT Popcharger. Would definitely get Plenum Spacer etc etc as recommended by Abbey as well.

    6. Jason - Japspeed k2, Japspeed y pipe, AEM CAI Or pop charge depending on readings. Will purchase a plenum spacer soon.

    7. Chadwick - k1 exhaust, plenum spacer pipercross induction

    8. maz - pop charger / exhaust

    9. Jim - JWT popcharger (JDM tiptronic - do you need the ECU number?)

  11.

Ok folks, PLEASE SEARCH for further info before asking questions. Many topics are covering UpRev tuning and it's results with various mods.

I'm sorry, Stew, but I've been searching for a while now and found lots of interesting information, but not the answers to the questions I posted. It is not clear in all the threads I looked at whether or not there would be any gains by re-mapping a standard engine with no significant mods (except the popcharger). All of the threads seemed to concern people who had a lot of mods on their cars first. Also, though I seem to remember a thread which suggested something about the re-map removing the JDM limiter, I can't find it at all now.

    Here you go Jim:

    http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=114&t=27916

this was simply in the Abbey motorsport section. Theres also a thread called uprev for dummies where a forum member has had his done recently along with all the questions you asked, answered.

But yes you will feel a difference as it opens throttle 100% and also smooths out the torque curve. You wont get much in terms of numbers but the overall driveability will be MUCH better.

Your JDM limiter can be removed also.

For someone who asked about the EPR Throttle controller, this does not give you 100% throttle, it merely sends a signal to the ECU to tell it that the throttle is further down than it actually is thus making it feel more responsive.

Hope this helps guys, im not an expert but have read enough on here to know that the Uprev is a great modification to purchase, from everyones reviews its a no brainer if you have the cash ready.

Thanks a lot - I don't know how I missed that thread.

  13. Some questions just out of general interest on this one.

    1. Can anybody explain just what exactly Abbey will be doing to your cars? And what benefits will you see?

    2. The only modification I have on my car is the JWT Popcharger, so would there be any point in having it re-mapped?

    3. Does this process also include the removal of the JDM speed limiter?

  14. So, does anybody know where there s an ODB-II reader which works on JDM cars??

There's a whole thread on exactly that question.

    viewtopic.php?f=10&t=32987&p=506406&hilit=odb+code+reader#p506406

So far, no one has been able to suggest an affordable reader that most of us are looking for. There is an expensive product (Innovate LM2) that needs an O2 sensor welded into the exhaust downpipe to give it full functionality, but nothing that you can just plug into the car and read easily.
