  1. Had a similar experience. The S2000 was nice, but Zed made me grin from ear to ear....
  2. I have heard the same thing said to me by one of my colleagues who also owned (and currently again own) a Lexus (after an RX8...) He also said their service is second to none.
  3. Lol, I got asked the same question when I got mine. (Why should I be having a mid-life crisis just because I've got a nice new car?!?!?!?!?!)
  4. Hard to believe he got out of that alive, honestly... In some ways it gives me some confidence in the Z's safety aspects... (that said, if there had been a passenger, I can't see them having survived that...)
  5. Yes, the architecture. The Core 2's do slightly, to substantally, more work than the X2's per clock cycle, depending on what's being done. (As you probably know, the reverse was true for quite a long time.) There are cases where the Athlons are still slightly quicker, primarily memory internsive combined with computational intensive stuff (e.g. large scale matrix multiplications etc), largely attributable to the on-chip memory controller (thus running at core speed) whereas the Core 2's still use the more conventional external chipset to house the memory controller (which runs at FSB speed.) Intel still need to catch up in that regard. Anyway, hopefully AMD will hit back soon with something new, all this competition is very good for us as customers/consumers!
  6. I wish i could drive my zed Why cant you? Come on now Sarnie... spit it out...
  7. Well, mine knows about the M6 toll...
  8. eesh, surely thats going to affect your wheel balancing and possibly alignment...
  9. Thought you might find this amusing - Sunday bloody sunday, Bush style:
  10. ... after a wash and wax on Sunday... :-) Overall pretty pleased. (But boy, is it difficult to keep clean in this weather...)
  11. I think you'll find Zed owners to be an enormously helpful and generally cheery bunch! It's hard not to be with the zed's having their grin inducing influence on us all!! Welcome to the club anyway!
  12. I absolutely agree with you - the goverment already collects various forms of tax, and roads and other public services is already part of what it's supposed to provide with that tax collected. This kind-of tendendency lately of governments to want to pretend that we don't already pay for certain things that are covered by general tax collection so therefore they then want to invent new taxes so we "do" pay for them, does nark me off as well. As for congestion: You need to provide reasonable alternatives if you want to make a serious dent in congestion problems. Just raising taxes will only make everyone poorer and angrier unless there's an actual reasonable alternative to getting in your car... My £0.02 worth.
  13. Much appreciated, the list is great thanks! (I just want something to tide me over in the meantime, until I can research things properly and decide what to do going forward... maybe get some Zaino or something else that's regarded highly. Anyway...)
  14. OK, I've had the car paintshielded last Saturday, and was told to not wash the car with car shampoo for at least a week to allow the paintshield to cure. Which is fine, but it's been a mucky week and the car is now relatively dirty, so I want to give her a good clean the weekend. I've got a Supaguard aftercare kit, including the shampoo (which should be fine I suppose), a sponge ( don't like the idea of sponges and carwash myself, I'll probably steer clear of that), a chamois, some type of supaguard after-care polish and a few other cans of varying kinds (wheel stuff etc.) As I say, I want to wash her as she's rather mucky after the last week of iffy weather, but haven't had time to order/get hold of really good stuff, so I'm wondering if anyone has any reccomendations on reasonable stuff that I can use in the interim, that I can e.g. pick up from Halfords. (Bearing in mind the car is black so I especially want to avoid creating scratches/swirl marks etc.) Or should I just use the Supaguard shampoo etc and be done with it? (I almost certainly want to get something else to wash with, microfibre washmitt or summit maybe.) Advice gratefully received.
  15. Hello everyone! Well I'm still grinning as wide as ever. Thoroughly enjoying getting to know my Black Panther. *However* I've got a quick question which I'm hoping someone can comment on that'll save me reading the entire manual (I've briefly looked but found nothing) or calling the dealer. I've noticed that as the miles pile on (about 400 now), the low (idling) oil pressure reading seems to be becoming lower and lower and lower and... Currently, at idle (when warm) the pressure guage reads (estimated) 15... Is this normal? While driving the pressure seems to average around 60. (Irrelevant banter: Put a tank full of V-Power in last night. Whoo! Average mpg according the to dash is about 22mpg! Whoo! )
  16. Well yeah, it looks pretty schweet in the pics eh Aside: Thought the paintshield went pretty well actually, as you can see it's well nigh invisible in the pics on the black car.) In bright light from the right angles there's a few swirl marks (and what looks like a very slight scratch one place on the bonnet ) that, so I was told, will polish out (unfortunately there was not enough time to polish up as well on Saturday etc.) But, yeah, it does look rather nice doesn't it. I doubt anyone that walks up to the car will notice the paintshield being there unless they're told about it, and even then it's pretty invisible.
  17. Said I'd post some pics after paintshielding and cleaning... Unfortunately cleaning/keeping the car clean has been all but impossible over this weekend, but nevertheless, here's a few pics... (As I say, car is actually quite dirty on these pics so bear that in mind if/when scrutinizing the pics closely. Also, they were taken in poor lighting conditions without flash out of hand, so apologies if they're a little fuzzy.) Proud new owner: Luscious Alezan interior: Front shot: Fuzzy pic of the rear brake light (needed a tripod really)...
  18. Thanks for the rock music intro lomoto (Imagine the theme from Kill Bill in the background...)
  19. Well, Picked her up today! Yes the day finally came! Whaaaahooooo!!! Suffice to say, I'm (still) a little lost for words at the minute. The drive back from Cambridge was superb, nothing like driving a new car home. Everyone I've showed it (off) to so far has been most impressed. Tomorrow off to get some paintshielding done hopefully, though I see some severe weather/flood warnings affecting this area have been issued : http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/ukweather/warnings.shtml (Unfortunately the car is already a little dirty having done the trip back, but presumably this will not be a problem w.r.t. the paintshielding. ) I must thank Marshall Nissan and in particular Paul Dray (and Davros) for the most excellent service and overall experience I've received from them. I can honestly say that they exceeded my expectations in pretty much every way (and I know I've not been a particularly easy customer to please, at least, *I* don't think I was. ) Thank you Paul, thank you Dave. Based on my experience so far, I have no reservations recommending them, so if any of you are after a 350Z, this is one dealership to really strongly consider. I will post piccies and more of a writeup tomorrow.
  20. another likely customer here!
  21. 'ey all, Rightee ho... As I've mentioned in a previous post, I've got a Zed coming. Ironically, it's already arrived at the dealers, and the delay in picking it up is essentially myself (or more to the point, work/life has been getting in the way.) Been enormously busy and haven't had a chance to sort out everything before picking her up yet (insurance, finance, etc.) Also needing to decide about things like GAP insurance etc and a few other thigs. So, a few questions just to get the general feel for the consensus on here (if any): 1.) Supaguard and Paintshield The dealer wants to sell me Supaguard for £295 or so. Now I know you can buy the Supaguard kit on Ebay for a fraction of that cost. However, then I'd still need to apply it. Complicating the decision is: a) I don't know what Supaguard actually does to the paint (which worries me slightly) b ) I probably want to get the front Paintshielded, which means that presumably you want to have the parts being shielded waxed/polished to a fairly high standard before application. Or is that not correct? c) It's a shorter journey from the dealer to Paintshield (I think) than it is to first take the care home then take it back to Paintshield at a later date (so it might be better to take it straight from the dealers to be paintshielded?) For that matter, where is Paintshield's premises? (Never mind, I'll PM Tom and confirm.. ) So I don't really know. On the one hand I'd be happier to not have it supaguarded and then Zaino or something the car myself first, then have it Paintshielded. But, that increases the risk of chips before Paintshielding and is a lot more hassle. So on the other hand, if the Supaguard is half decent, it seems to make sense to just have it done, then take the car straight out to be paintshielded after pickup. The other prime worry is paintshield on the new Ebisu black - how noticable is it, and how well does it polish with quality stuff like Zaino? One other supaguard question to those who've had it done (Nismo'd?): Is the supaguard sold by the dealers only for the paintwork, or does it also include some interior/wheel/tyre treatment? If so, what does it do to the leather? Any other comments about it? 2.) GAP insurance. I've been made an offer by the dealer for their equivalent to GAP insurance. Is it worth it to shop around and/or how is the service offering by the one offered by the dealers? Has anyone had to use them and how was it? Aside: I'm a little "insurance weary" these days. It seems everyone wants to sell you another little insurance to cover things "just in case" the already existing cover/warranty etc isn't good enough. (Can anyone say "coverplan" for household appliances etc.) Gap insurance seems to me a tacit admission that your "normal" insurance is somehow deficient, the idea of which irks me. That may actually in truth be the case, but it still irks me somehow. What the hell is the point of insurance then if it's actually not enough??? 3.) Car insurance: Any recommendations? I'm with Direct Line at the minute. Need to give them a ring and see what they quote. But, any other recommendations? Anyway, moving on, it looks like I'll be picking up the Zed towards the end of next week (24th, 25th or so) depending on workload and other circumstances. I guess on the upside it gives me a chance to sort a few other bits out (where's the best Z badges to be had?!? And a stubby aerial?) Thanks !!!
  22. Looks like a stunning car for the money (is that really nismo alloys? Or just lookalikes? Whatever, they look quite schweet...) It must be a Jap import as it's tiptronic, as the tip isn't available here (also can see it's a Jap import from "Fairlaydy" badge. So no Nissan warranty. Also notice it's not GT pack (so cloth seats.) This is not neccesarily bad (some people prefer cloth seats), but that may make it a slightly less compelling deal as for only a few grand more you can just about buy a UK car with GT pack (unless I'm mistaken, if so please someone correct me.)
  23. I'm actually surprised there's so little apparent damage...
  24. Yeah, 11th of Novemeber. I was a bit shocked as well when I was told that - I assumed he meant December and then was told no, 11th November... Don't know, possibly a cancelled order I guess. There was already a car of the required spec in the system, was what I was told. I don't much care as long as it's properly new etc.
