  1. Well. Had been wanting to do this the right way round and post about my extended test drive last weekend first before making this announcement, but what the hell. (The review/report of the test drive is not finished and is turning into a real tome... will hopefully post that later tonight ) Anyway... I've finally went and done it: I put down a deposit on a new Z last week, with the friendly folks at Marshall Nissan. They did me an absolutely cracking deal, so I'm pretty happy in that regard. Spec is, in brief: Ebisu black (black won over the red for me in the final analysis), GT pack, Alezan leather, Sat Nav, various other bits n bobs. Amazingly enough, the car is alledgedly due to be delivered the 8th to the dealership, and they reckon they can have it ready for collection by the 11th... Needless to say I'm one very happy chappy Now I just need to finalise payment, insurance etc. I feel some questions/posts coming on soon... (And some minor mod purchases like badges and the like... )

    TT mk.2

Well. me and the wife went to see one in the flesh today (at Leicester Audi.) Liked the build quality. Thought the rear seats are a waste of space (honestly - Nissan has the right idea there.) The shape is nice but it does not grab you nearly as much as the original TT's did when it came out or that the Z still does me. I did however like the speed-adjusting spoiler (which the wife did not like ) The seats are pretty nice, fully adjustable, and the gear change felt nice enough (while off of course, I don't know how it would be in use.) The clutch felt quite light, I don't really have a preference either way there. The Sales guy was friendly enough, though I did have to listen to some schpiel about them having been given the new TT, the Z, the Z4 and the Cayman S for a day (on Hockenheim) some time ago by Audi (which basically concludes that the TT is basically as good as the Cayman S that costs 20 grand more.) Of course, he didn't like the Z that much, said it didn't hold the corners that well etc. Also said he didn't really like the build quality on the Z. (I did wonder afterwards whether he had the facelifted Z or not.) But, he's after all an Audi salesman so can be forgiven for being biased. :-) Anyhow, I'm still slightly tempted to book a test drive just to give the new TT a fair chance. (Aside: I'm in all likelihood finally buying car in the next month or 2.) However so far I can't really say the new TT's particularly grabbed me. (It is possible of course that I'll be completely blown over once I get behind the wheel and depress the accelerator for real, like with the Z... really impossible to know without trying I suppose. ) Has anyone else that actually own an 06 model Z been to drive the new TT, and if so, what did you think about the cars? How does the trim compare etc?
  4. Hmm, you need some sort of Captcha validation as part of account creation methinks...
  5. You've got me curious now. What did you find out and what did the dealer do?
  6. Why does he want to get rid of them so urgently? (Or am I reading him wrongly?)
  7. £11k!!!!!! That can't be far from a write off Yeah... any idea of what's actually broken etc?
  8. Not worth the extra dough mate Yeah but even so, he makes me want one too...
  9. It just keeps getting better and better: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Nissan-350z-Nismo ... dZViewItem £4500 and just £2.50 postage world wide! Edit: sorry, that's £4,250! Hey another £250 less than I thought!
  10. (found while browsing... ) Painful looking Z expiration event... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5pYAMhslzc
  11. If it is so easy to fix then why doesn't he get it fixed himself and then sell it for double his asking price? (Still way under book price.) No. That car has more damage than meets the eye. I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole...
  12. Pics are always good... (One guy at work *might* be, I'll ask him. I think he's more after an S3 though so...)
  13. Well, if you've seen 50, then a 3-50 is just apropos dontcha think!!?! Welcome btw. If you're sad at the minute, you'll be grinning once you get the Z, it's involuntary. (and all that from not-yet-an-owner...)
  14. As title, what is this? A GT4? And whats those tail lights? Custom ones? All in all, looks quite schweet, whatever it is... http://www.info.bonsaicars.com/bvi/inde ... rer=Nissan
  15. I didnt want one.. I just got supplied with this piece of crap thats cost me a fortune in batteries nice idea though , just more complication for complications sake I think? Well, I've got 2 logitech wireless mice. Both are wireless but they're both rechargeable with a docking station, making the bettery going flat a moot point. Even so, that happens very rarely, and I frequently ind myself going weeks on end before it starts flashing at me indicating battery low. A quick park on the cradle fixes that. I can highly reccommend Logitech mice and keyboards, mostly good kit. The attendant Logitech keyboard (with the one comp) is wireless also and uses normal batteries, and has now recently had one new replacement set (after about a year's worth of use...!)
  16. Can you guys make out the number plate? It looks like X53 UWW to me, however neither this nor K53 UWW, or W53 UWW returns any details on www.hpicheck.com... Scamarama if you ask me.
  17. Lol, It so happens we're also moving to a place with a double garage (providing the sale etc goes thru allright etc etc ) ... it was also one of my main requirements (due to planned Z etc etc.) So... sounds like we're coincidentally going thru similar machinations... moving house, buying z's... (so long as my wife doesn't suddenly announce she's expecting now... ) Cheers!
  18. How are you going to rewire them to give 4 Ohm without loosing left and right channels? OK, naievely/noobishly: Can't you just wire in extra 2 ohm resistors into the loop to each speaker?
  19. More info, I need more info!!! This sounds interesting. I've been under the impression with aftermarket systems it's all or nothing with the Z due to differences in amp's/speakers? How did you manage it?
  20. +1 You'll find yourself involuntarily sprouting a grin when you get behind the wheel and especially once you hear the V6 fire up and when you pull away/start driving. I certainly did when I went on a test drive, and this "Zed induced grinning" effect is apparently very common. (In fact, though I don't own a Zed yet and thus can't talk from experience, the silly grin remains more or less permanently! )
  21. Thats what I do,after suffering countless dents on previous cars. I double park everywhere I go,get @*!# loads of abuse, but hey no dents! Makes one tempted to put a sticker/notice on your car saying something like "If everyone were as careful as you, opening your door alongside my car, I would park in a single bay. Sadly they're not, so forgive me that I don't."
  22. 'cos I juggle bytes for a living...
  23. On the M6 toll road going towards the M1/A5 (spotted just before the toll gate, think it was around 14:45), reg FR55 ***... Anyone of you lot??
