  1. +5 is definite arch rolling, dropped or not IMHO.

Does it not depend on the wheel width and the tyre thats being used? :)

I reckon you could get a 10J ET5 on the back running a 235 with the arch lipped, if not as standard. And upon checking the ad, those are staggered 8's and 9s', so youd have no issue making them fit. £850 isnt too bad for those wheels either IMHO :)

235 on the back of a Zed - no thanks.

  2. Yep indeed, the overpriced one from Chorley...we put on our best negotiating hats though and came to a fair deal I think...let's put it this way, we made a worthwhile saving but all that matters is we are happy with the final price and deal so that's a result eh?

This was the sixth car we looked at, and all (apart from Webber's 54 plater which was the best we'd seen to date - and a real peach) were all crap...even the Temper one we had dropped out of (despite being considerably cheaper) wasn't a patch on this one.

I'm curious about how many of these white ones there are knocking around, have never seen one other than the one 350GiZ is selling on here...would be really interested to know if there's dozens of the blighters LOL!!

Looking forward to collecting the beast now and joining in on the social side hopefully.

    Best all

Its what its worth to you that matters.
  3. Great little cars - I'm running a 2006 Mk3 with the 2.0 engine. Unlike the Mk2, its quite happy to cruise around and feels stable and secure on the motorway. Its definitely a car you could use everyday. For me the 2.0 was essential and you would want a Sport model because that comes with a 6 speed box. Bear in mind that until recently very few MX5s came with air con and whilst that's not important when the roof is off, in a warm wet Britsh summer its a bit of a bugger.

I've no idea of mpg because its a third car and I hardly use it. Mines a soft top so no real idea about the folding hard top either.

Of course the best bit is the rwd handling and feeling and lightness and directness. Its not as pure as the earlier models but that's the price you pay for its civility. You'd want to fit the lowering springs from either Mazda or Eibach as Mazda simply jacked the car up for European markets to meet safety regs without altering the rest of the suspension - the lowering springs bring it back to the correct height it was designed to be (the car isn't slammed and doesn't trouble speed bumps) and improves the handling no end.

The 2.0 also has enough power to unstick the back end which comes round surprisingly easily in the wet but there is switchable ESP to keep things in check when you're not in the mood.

You're always welcome to pop over for a coffee, chat and a drive if you want, Stan.

  4. No, I'm afraid not. +20 would be better but I can't see that on the list of available offsets.

You could go more aggressive than that but we would need more details to help you eg. whether you're lowered or intend to do so in the future, whether you're prepared to roll your arches etc. :)

  5. .......

Personally I wouldn't swap lightweight forged Nismos for Rotas but its your car.

I wouldn't swap LMGT's for Rota's either but having said that I sold my LMGT's recently and currently have my 2nd set of rims on the Zed at the moment - which happen to be Rota Drifts with R888's and believe it or not the 18inch Rotas (with new R888's on) weight less than the 19inch LMGT's (with part worn Goodyear Eagles). 23kgs for the LMGTs vs 22kgs for the Rotas (inc tyres).

While the LMGT's are the dogs danglies there is no performance benefit with running them over the Rotas and the Rotas are easily and cheaply replaced if damaged.

...but that's because you've dropped a size.
