I think with you having a UK alarm system fitted it has interfered with the original Jap system.. mine just has the Jap system that works from the original Nissan key

does it look like this one nixy ? if so its to enable / disable auto folding mirror option on locking and also autodip when engaging reverse gear Well it does on mine anyway

Sorry I cant answer your question , But I have only used the cheapest petrol in my Zed since I have had it..doesnt seem to worry it one bit, I think the petrol co's make enough profit without swelling their coffers further -
totally debadge it like a few have done on here , Cheaper option

if the windscreen is actually marked as opposed to just a dirt film on it, try "jewellers rouge" to polish off any wiper marks or ask someone in the windscreen fitting trade for some of their windscreen polishing paste
