  1. Mine does this but its such a rare thing to do and if you slow the gearchange down it overcomes the problem so not too bothered about getting it fixed. Only gives Nissan a chance to screw up something else in my opinion...
  2. Gutted for you mate. Hope you get sorted soon and not too much cost. Having suffered from wanton vandalism to my house at the weekend I know the kind of anger you are feeling. Some people just don't deserve to be on this earth...
  3. As long as you meant 'if anyone else Has any similar problems no matter the make of tyres can you please POST here if thats ok with you, Sylvester? then yeah sure And yep same here, first thing I checked ( even before leaving the fitters ) was that the tyres were on the right way round... I learnt that from the experience of others on the forum! Through a variety of reasons I have hardly driven the Zed recently ( ) so still waiting to get those couple of hundred miles under the belt. Here's hoping they settle down...

    Tracking

To ensure everyone is up to speed on my level of ignorance.... How do you know if your tracking needs to be altered ? I assume some kind of uneven tyre wear or handling difficulty ?
  5. My mum spotted a bodykitted Kuro in York while on hols - must have been over the weekend. Parked in a small road with trees down one side. She got her partner to take a picture of her standing next to it and they emailed it to me under the heading 'Spending the Kids Inheritance'
  6. I found the beeps on mine far too loud so put some tape over the unit to quieten it down. So, suggest you check where the unit is ( in the boot usually ) and see if it is covered or is behind something. If it is in the open then sounds like it needs adjusting/replacing ( or attaching to stereo speakers )
  7. Hi Andy, thanks mate - yep Will sorted things out in the end. Like you say Toyo seemed to be a bit of a pain but all sorted now and from what I can see quoted elsewhere a good wad of dosh cheaper too... As for helping out any more yes.... get your bloody tyre fitting capabilities sorted out asap That way I will not have to go to Micheldevers again and get new scratches in the bolt holes..... ( Ok they are only small but I know they are there! ) Thanks again mate... maybe talk to you in 10K miles or so!
  8. Brought a tear to my eye... was born and bred in Caversham ( Washington Road )... used to travel the road to Emmer Green every day to get to school...
  9. Yes we did +99.9% of the forum! What a sourpuss! Hope you get sorted soon mate.
  10. Know where you are coming from mate but that is just BEGGING a low life scum to come and play with it and do more damage than a tiny ding ....
  11. Sorry to see this mate. Glad you are OK. Maybe you will be able to get a complete respray to a better colour as part of the fix Seriously people be careful out there in the wet.... better to be late than 'the late' ! Save the fun for the dry ( or the track ).
  12. I've got Rays wheels and I know they are ultra soft but it seems that everytime anybody needs to take the wheels off the insides of the wheel nut area gets scratched. Nissan garage has done it, tyre fitters have done it and I even did it once. I know many of you folks look after your Zeds to a very high level so I am sure you would not live with this ( whereas I probably will as I can't spend as much time as I would like on the Zed these days as I prefer to spend it with family ). So, how do you a avoid such problems ? b Make sure other people avoid such problems c Any cosmetic solution tips ( other than refurb ... e.g. touch up pens or similar ? ) cheers
  13. Recently changed from Bridgestones to Toyo T1-Rs. Drove back from the fitters ( 50 miles... ) and was impressed with the Toyos - quieter, more feeling from steering, grip seemed up. Should be said I was not doing much / any near limit driving though. Finally got the chance to check the tyre pressure last night to find that the fitters ( Micheldever Winchester you are named and shamed ) had only put in 27 psi into each tyre! Upped them to the 35 as per handbook and drove again last night. Obviously harder ride, lot of steering feeling lost, less grip. Car just felt a little skittish. Again I am not talking track driving here. Fairly confident the pressures are correct as I have an expensive pressure guage. So, apart from my embarassment at not being able to tell tyres were so far under inflated when driving it ( which I explain to myself by saying that they were different tyres so I did not have much to compare against... ) and apart from my anger at fitters for not bothering to look up the right pressure ( or look in the door panel or even, god forbid, asking the owner! ) my question is... Is it correct that every tyre should have the same pressure in order to work at its best ? I.E. could it be that Toyos will work best at (say) 32 psi whereas the Bridgestones need 35 ?
  14. Forgot to say ... Toyo T1-Rs seem sweet tyres! Only driven the 50 miles back from the fitters but they seemed quiter, gripier and gave significant extra feeling through the steering wheel. Impressed so far....
  15. Update. Finally got the Toyos delivered this morning - thanks Andy - good price too! Managed to get them in the Zed fine using the method Andy suggested. Drove the 50 miles to micheldevers ( after checking they would fit them... just needed to take proof of purchase to avoid them fitting stolen ones ). Asked them to be careful with the Rays as they sratch so easily. Well I guess they were more carefull than a backstreet fitter would have been but not especially so. As a result I have picked up a few more scratches on the insides of the bolt resesses. Won't bother to make the 100 mile round trip to them again in the future. All very slick and big operation and that but I was hoping for some TLC I know lots of you guys take much better care of your cars than I do - how do you keep your alloys pristine ? Seems every time they are touched the bolt holes get scratched...
  16. Managed to circumvent the problem by shutting down the Check Point Integrity Flex progam ( temporarily ). Guess there may be a setting in there that I can play with but I have a work around until I find it.... Thanks again for your help guys... Syl
  17. Thanks guys but to be honest you started loosing me at 'Internet Proxy' ... Sorry to say I require support of the 'press this button then that button and then.... oh just give it here!' kind. Appreciate your time.
  18. Thanks again... According to the Control Panel front page Firewall is on. Going into the Windows Firewall subpage the options to turn it on or off are greyed out ( so I assume controlled by group policy ) but it looks like the off button is selected. If you go to the Exceptions tab the text says ' Windows firewall is turned off. Your network administrator is using group policy to control these setting. The body of that page then lists several progams amongst which is Itunes. This has a tick in the box to the left of the program name and under column Group Policy it says No. No idea what all that means.... doesn't sound too promising though...
  19. Nothing to do with Zeds in any way so please stop reading if you thought this thred was Zed related and sorry for wasting your time. Am sure there are some clever techies out there who may be able to help me. I have a work laptop on which I have ITunes installed and all my music for my Ipod ( as I can access internet for free from work anytime no point paying for it on home computer ). Problem is for some time I have not been able to get connected to the Music Store on Itunes. Because its a work computer and for SW is for personal use I can't use my own company techies for help.... I have read through the help stuff on Itunes to try and fix the problem but my techy knowledge is limited so I don't really understand some of the jargon and I can't do some of the things they suggest ( like talk to the SW supplying for Firewalls etc ) due to it all being supplied by work. Problem is that when I try to access music store from within Itunes I get the following message: Itunes could not connect to the music store. The network connection was refused. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again. Laptop has the following : Windows XP Professional version 5.1 ( build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519 : Service Pack 2 ) Check Point Integrity Client Internet Explorer 6.0 Itunes 6.0.5.20 Problem might be related to any or all of the above I guess..:-( I used to be able to access Itunes/Music Store OK until about 6 weeks ago. We have a lot of automatic SW updates performed on our laptops so I am not sure what changed to trigger it but do know that SP2 upgrade has been done in last couple of months. Any offers of help ( preferably in English rather than technogeek ) much apreciated. Cheers Syl
  20. I've been quoted £252 by Dan Perkins in Slough when supplying my own oil....hmmm do they change the air filter at a P2? I have a JWT pop charger which obviously won't get changed, more money off the service?! £252 excluding oil!! I paid £215 all in at Sparshatts Botley last week.
  21. Hi Andy, Tuesday... very disappointing... Thanks for the chasing. Come on Toyo - pull your finger out... after all the sooner I get them the sooner I can wear them out and buy some new ones Please padlock the fronts to something to make sure they don't roll away to someone else Please PM me with any news as back to work now so not as much time to surf.. Cheers
  22. Thanks for the test Andy !! All we need now is the Tyres.. any news from Toyo mate ?
  23. Hi Liam, don't know about the repair yet as waiting till after new tyres fitted before arranging it... expect it will just be a touch up - the scratches are relatively small and in a confined area ( the bolt holes ). A couple are perhaps a millimeter deep and a centimeter long though so noticable. I'll be sure to find out before I leave the car with them though... thanks
  24. Well thought I would post on my experience with Sparshatts today.... Car was booked in for 2 year service and clicking rear axle to be fixed under warranty. Was supposed to be given a lift there and back but they were short of drivers so they gave me a couresy car for the day for free instead... a light blue Micra S.... haven't laughed so much for ages... what a hoot to drive At least I was mobile for the day which was a bonus. Service cost £215... ouch. Checked car on arrival and yes, you guessed it they have scratched the alloy wheel when taking it on and off.... what F'in muppets!! Guess that's what happens when you get people used to dealing with Granny's steel micra wheels touching an expensive alloy.. So now they have to arrange for the wheel to be repaired - which means another 40 mile round trip and another day without the Zed.... going to wait until after my new tyres are fitted ( hopefully back end of next week ) before letting them fix the scratches... just in case.... Think I will be asking for a nice loan car that day for free ! My Zed has stopped sounding like a cricket at least...
