  1. found out abit more about this item,

it looks like the mini amp that comes with this works like an in-line amp.

you unplug an audio cable fromt ehback of the original headunit and plug into the f500 amp. it then runs a new cable from the amp back into the headunit. and another that feeds up to the GPS.

this is how it intergrates and gives all the features. this should mean its compatible with the bose head unit.

what i need help with as i have never done it before is how do you mount a double din screen or equivilant behind the cubby.

i have a flip up cubby, and as far as i am aware you can remove the back box section leaving the door in place.

my next question is how do i fix the unit in place behind it. will i need to custom fabricate a frame to hold the unit and mount up on to the original cubby box fixing points and then fit it all back in?

any pics of what the dash looks like dismantled would be greatly appreciated.

if i have to fabricate up a cradle and this all works i will take pics as i go, and would possibly make up cradles for other people.

this unit should give me the opportunity to run an external harddrive through it with all my music on (could put up to 250 gb in) it will also take a reversing camera,

or link you ipod up to it instead of an external hard drive. i plan to run an ipod cable to the same place as the current bluetooth adapter is.

but as i've said before, never retro fitted a screen into a dash before.

  2. dont go to any extra effort,

just intrigued, therer are so many to choose from already, and more to come.

i wouldn't want them to go and design something with no one to buy it.

just wonder if they would go for a single back box or a twin back box?

  3. I'm a teacher and i must admit i'm impressed with his car knowledge for 16.

Yes, but as a teacher you must be totally p***ed off with his spelling and grammar! :D

i'm a tech teacher; even i struggle with proper grammar and spelling, my job is to teach them how to make stuff.

  4. +1 to above post

    its just getting silly.

they have also banned talking on a phone (which i agree with) but they are also looking to make it illegal to use hands free,

some lobbyists want smoking while driving band.

if we head down this route we'll be made to sit in silence while driving and risk points if we take our hands off the wheel to change the radio station.

if they want safe roads, they should look at the following

firstly - improve the road network, their are loads of roads in poor condition or dual carriageways that should be turned into motorways e.g. a12 and a14

secondly - after 11 pm speed limits on dual carriageways and motorways should be raised to 100. (or removed completely.) there is very little traffic so why do 70.

heavily enforce speeding past areas like schools especially at the times they are being used.

scrap speed cameras, introduce more road road cops, they have a brain and can make a decision on the driver, and give just a warning (which for some is enough) instead of a box that takes your picture regardless.

all learner drivers should follower the finnish method of driver tuition. taking 3 years to get a licence, including time spent on a skid pan. proper probation periods with cars that are limited to 1000 cc. or 70 mph

old people should be re tested every year from 60 not 70.

cars should be fitted with breathaliser ignition systems

if the government want to keep the 70% fuel tax, thats fine but that should be classed as your road tax, not charging people double. that way you pay for what you use. i'd rather have them scrap road tax and put fuel up by a couple of pence than keep paying £400 a year.

licence points should be calculated on the severity of the incident i.e. 6 points for doing 50 in a 30 past a school maybe a warning on the motorway if your doing 90 in a 70.

maybe make the advanced drivers course compulsary to complete within the first 5 years of driving.

there is a difference between fast driving and dangourous drivering.

  5. some gorgeous looking cars there.

love the cobras, its one of my dream kit cars.

was told by an owner once at a show when asked do you drive it much?

he said yes, but only when its dry, in daylight, no traffic, and no leaves on the road. anything other than perfect road conditions and they become a monster to handle, the backs are really twitchy due to the emense amount of power. said he could never use it as a daily driver. :headhurt:

don't blame him, would cry if i wrote one of those off

guess you guys have the perfect weather for them

  6. anyone have any ideas or pics of what the back of the bose unit looks like. am trying to find out if this unit will plug into it?

their must be some kind of input as the OEM satnav runs through the speakers.

but i don't want to go and buy one to find it won't intergrate.

worst case senario is i have to run it off its own speaker like a standard screen mounted satnav.

still interested if anyone has seen these, i've had a play 900bt and the pioneer system seems good, don't know what other peoples opinins are or if they would reccommend a better system. for a similar price.

  7. I think you guys need to read ecoty this year and tell me again that fwd can not match a rwd for feel drive and speed. quote 'the steering. brakes. power delivery ride and handling will put a smile on anyone's face' I ain't going to disagree with them.

    -ho

I think you guys actually need to drive a good fwd car and get ever your prejudice's

its not prejudice, its an educated and well informed choice through ownership and experience.

    I've owned:

    - 306 gti6 (spankingly good FWD car, one of the first cars to have a 6speed box, and used to **** over most other cars)

    - CIVIC type S

    Driven:

    - civc type R current and last gen

    - 205 GTI

    - Golf GTI mrk 1,2,3, 4 and 5

    also had:

mr2 roadster Mid engine, rear wheel

and out of all of them, i'd pick a rear wheel drive car over them anyday

i loved the GTI6 and it was a great car, handled well, as did alot of the other ones i've driven, but they don't compare for feedback and enjoyment over a rear wheel car.

if i ever had to go back to a hatchback, i'd get a BMW 135i, just because its rear wheel drive.

  8. Would love to have updates on this mate. I know with the Supra engine in the 350z one of the main problems was the electrical side. Luckily the 350z has ample of space availble for a variety of different engine options B)

We are taking progress pics all the time so should be do-able. It is the FTO that came to the 350 Thurrock meet that time if you remember it??

As for a Supra engine in a Z, it would be a lot more complex than the conversion we are doing at the moment, engine mounts, wiring looms etc etc.

don't some people also do an FTevO

by dropping an evo engine into the FTO engine bay?

  9. why not buddy... the honda fd2 has shown time and time again that you can have fwd performance.. lets not even mention the Mugen rr.. both quicker than the Z around the twisties and with circa 60 bhp less than Z give or take depending on which model z you have...

    -ho

I love the Clio 182 as a car to borrow every now and then (brother had one), but you never get the control or feel that you do from an RWD setup. Never. Feel is everything, and when you've got two wheels doing both steering and power it's never going to be as pure.

Granted a good FWD car can be better than an average RWD one, but I know which I'd prefer to own.

+1. The feeling of control as you feed in the power at the apex of a corner with a powerful RWD car can never be anywhere near as good with a FWD.

    +1

exactly my thinking, and something that was mentioned in another post about MCS
