  1. ANOTHER OLD THREAD DUG UP. Not Extrons but a visualally identical unit. Mine is Podofo these units are not std 7 inch fitment but screen area is 7 in. I JB welded mine into the back of the trim. Looked completly fine but the touch switches at the side were a littly tricky to opperate with a finger. BRAINWAVE I have a router and a selection of bits. Go round the trim with a very small cutter fitted.CRACKING IDEA I THOUGHT. Screwed the trim down to a plank of wood fired up the router. Problem is trim is a chanel section. One moment you are gently cutting 1/4 inch deep plastic next you are through into @*!# thin plastic ROUTER GOS WHEEEEE BIG DAM GOUGE BIG DAM GOUGE BIG DAM GOUGE. Oh I got mine cut but had to fill all these huge gouges with JB Weld and paint trim. How do you do it then ? Yes router is a cracking idea it will work. FILL THE CHANNEL WITH JB WELD. Then use the router. This works as there was a section in the trim full of JB weld I could not break out. THIS AREA MACHINED LOVELY. I have no need to do this again but the info will be of help to others. Hense digging up this thread.
  2. Old thread revival. But sure others have same issue. Had same issue HU would not pair identified device but pair no. YET I KNOW OBD Bluteooth device WORKS FINE. Go WIFI far more reliable connection and faster. £10 Ebay.
  3. NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED THERE Tried to edit text TEXT VANISHED leaving pic. 05 DE Torque Pro on Podofo GPS head unit and Samsung tablet. Racingmeter add on on tablet only. Tablet Velcro'd to cubby door USB now black braided right angle plug lead runs behind dash to hidden 4 way USB hub teathered to head unit . ELM327 WIFI £10 Ebay Proscan WIFI faster and more dependable than Bluetooth. WIFI will connect to HU or tablet NOT BOTH at same time.
  4. 05 DE Torque Pro on Android 11 GPS headunit ( Podofo ) Racingmeter add on or Torque displayed on 10.1 Samsung Android 11 Racing meter alegedly not suitable for Android 11 But if you hunt you can download it to V 11. Adaptor ELM327 WIFI Ebay £10 (Proscan) Previously V Gate Bluetooth. WIFI far more dependable and more responsive than Bluetooth.. WIFI Will run either head unit connection or tablet NOT BOTH. Tablet Velcro'd to cubby door. Ugly white USB pictured now changed for black braided anodised alloy right angle USB C plug .Tablet teathered to head unit through 4 way hub
  5. Android units come HORIBLY set up and really difficult to find apropriate settings. SETTINGS ARE MOST LIKELY THERE just a nightmare to find. Great unit once properly set up. I got round this same tunes issue by useing a Flash drive as music storage. Do not use to big a flash drive. Mine is 32.Gb Go too big a flash drive music skips badly like records . I have a four way USB hub installed to incorperate the stuff I want. Head unit has 2 USB tails. The USB hub still allows music to skip BUT REALLY VERY LITTLE barely noticable.BUT IT HAS THE EXHAUST TO COMPETE WITH TOO ! On a previous Android head unit I used USB splitters COMPLETLY FLAWLESSLY. This new unit will not tolererate splitters AT ALL ! Yet it is same brand and visually identical to the old one. Only a higher spec unit.
  6. No doubt CRACKING LOOKING JOB. Even the 350 Brainiac one. They also do a 370. And available in the UK. But getting a tablet working correctly as a head unit is difficult expensive and incomplete.
  7. Looked into the Brainiac kit but too tricky and expensive to make it work CORRECTLY AND COMPLETLY as a head unit. My Android head unit has the steering wheel control option but not wired in as yet. .Useing the tablet as an add on works better for me. I was initialaly conserned about tablet looking slapped on but the fit width and height are perfect. Obscures nothing bar the NON FUNCTIONAL cubby door (useless cubby anyway) and it sits really close to the dash centre. Covering over the non functional cubby was the whole idea. Cubby door looks fine just US. That bugged me. its stupid but it did. Some big screens in modern cars look horiffic. Look on YouTube for tablet car installs. Mine is by far one of the better ones. Some far too big screens obscuring controls looking awful. Some with trailing wires to lighter sockets. Have a look some REAL BAD. My replacement head unit went in today new right angle USB cable into the tablet looks far tidier. Not invisible but tidy. Could do it invisible and seriously considered it but I do not want to go that route.. Head unit still needs apps loaded and properly set up. Even completly hid the GPS antenna this time around.. it slots in securely but not overly tight into a PERFECT rectangular gap on top of the pod dials thought it would maybe foul on dash centre fitment but it dosent JUST ! OBD USB ELM327 cable fitted but not working as yet due to drivers not currently installed. BUT NO SMOKE ! That is one positive sign.
  8. Must be clear of the sweep of the wipers. Let mine go tho Downpatrick are more than reasonable.
  9. You are right. New cable will arive today. Now that I own a USB tester new cable will be checked BEFORE FULL CONNECTION. The reason for needing OBD to USB is Bluetooth on Racingmeter makes RPM and shift lights a bit too laggy for propper usage. USB connection will sort it. BTW Thanks for the compliment.
  10. An Android head unit is the way to go. I have a nav one in the 350. You can upload many apps even mirror link your phone. As for Nav apps Waze is DUNG here in NI Like some others it gets lost then all you have is a blue dot on a blank screen. I use HereWeGo app on my 10.1 Samsung tablet rigged into the ZED as I run Torque apps Racingmeter on it and the Torque app itself. Head unit Tablet and Phone all USB connected. When completed arm rest cubby will have a panel mount USB port inside it so phone and cable will be hidden away. AS THE GODS OF NISSAN INTENDED ! Tablet is mounted to the dash cubby door with a Velcro tablet mount known by brand as a Hedgie available on Ebay. For Nav I remove the tablet and turn it vertical. Head unit at 7 inch is a bit too piddley small for my ageing close up eyesite. But on the tablet THAT IS A NAV ! The white ugly USB cable will be replaced today with a slinky black braid lead witn anodised aluminium right angle plug. Most of the lead hidden behind the dash centre. This is being done today as upgrading the head unit too. BY NECESSITY But that is a whole different story and not in any way the old head units fault. BUT THE FAULT OF AN EBAY SELLER WHO I BOUGHT AN OBD TO USB CABLE FROM. THIS BARSTEWARDS CABLE FRIED THE HEAD UNIT. Advertised as 5 Volts. After the smoke show I ordered a £5.29 delivered USB Voltage tester USB END TESTED AT 12.7 VOLTS with ignition off. NOT A HAPPY BUNNY ! Luckilily tablet and phone were not connected at the time as those would have fried too.. The flash drive did not fair so well.
  11. I took a chance with mine even knowing the failure posibility. Government run centres here in NI I use Downpatrick all the time as ALLWAYS COMPLETLY REASONABLE. Compared to my local centre that I had to drive past and drive another 25 miles to get there. Newtownards MOT would FAIL A BRAND NEW WHEELBAROW. I never ever go there. Newtownards MOT are notoriously bad.
  12. Do not go too deep even a thin strip can make seeing traffic lights tricky . I find myself dukeing under it to view lights all the time. MINE IS NOT THICK !
  13. Lots of things. As said code reader YOU WILL NEED IT AGAIN !
  14. Stick a bottle of injector cleaner in her. Not saying it will fix it but would do no hurt. I used that when I fitted the EFI to my Triumph Gt6 20 years ago because injectors were old and been kicking about a long time dry. That sorted them.
  15. Just bought one Amazon UK. Cost less than servicing my 1947 Omega. Will get that done at some point.
