Have you checked the small drainage tub on the headlight normally located on the bottom? Will be a small rubber tube about an inch long with a 90 degree bend, designed to let the headlight breath. I wonder if that's blocked

    I'll have a look. Cheers

  2. I would take them off your hands but my clutch is in pretty good nick. I do know of a guy on one of the FB forums, him and his son are working on a 350Z doing basic servicing like brakes and stuff. Potentially an offer to be made to him if he needs it?

AT LAST A SENSIBLE ANSWER FROM A SENSIBLE PERSON. It is far too late to go into this properly. Will look in detail further tomorrow BUT THIS LOOKS FAR NEARER RIGHT than Nissans own internet decoder on Nissan Help THIS IS THE SPECIFIC REASON I WENT TO THE OFFICIAL DEALER TO FIND THE TRUTH To purely querie the info I find  FROM SEVERAL INTERNET SOURCES Independant VIN decoders come up with similar errors. WHAT THE HELL ? Anyway THANK YOU SO MUCH WILL LOOK INTO THIS FURTHER TOMORROW. As Abraham Lincoln once said. DO NOT BELIEVE EVERTHING YOU READ ON THE INTERNET. Well from Nissan anyway Thanks again, Still there is something hickey about this car. Why do standard interior parts not fit OR MUST BE CUT UP TO ALLOW IT Why never undersealed in the factory ?  Why can I not fit STOCK audio fitting parts ? Car details I do not really car. But what has been done and WHY ? All I wanted to do was put some sounds in. The info found on tinterweb the exact reason reason for ALL THE QUESTION MARKS ON HEADER I dearly wish to know which version she is. Because I can not pin her down as a particular one.

Glad you've sorted it. Take this second VIN page I found, completely different order... Not sure if it's based on DE/DE Rev-Up/HR, model year or possibly manufacturing location?

You sure it isn't undersealed? I was under the impression that 350Z's were undersealed but it was a very thin and sparse coat. Pathetic attempt really for UK road conditions.

According to the Vcheck I did, there's been 8 previous owners. Who knows what's been messed around with and not done properly.

VIN: (not sure which model year this is for, found here)

  4. Noticed some condensation inside the P/S headlight so I got to work. Replaced the actuator seal (bottom of headlight) and the main cover (rear of headlight; disc shaped) on both headlights. Off the back of a recommendation from @Olly350z, I put both headlights in the airing cupboard overnight which worked a treat. The moisture had completely evaporated from the P/S headlight when I checked it the next morning. I should've taken an after photo but it just looks like a stock headlight now 😆

It's a bit of a mess in the garage at the moment; I've been wrenching away on my new Cappuccino.

  5. Look here. The bolt looks like 14069-31U0A and the nut 08918-3081A. I couldn't find a UK supplier that has these in stock (TORQEN doesn't have them) so you'll have buy from Japan. Use amayama if you do, I used them last week for some 350Z parts. No issues

A much simpler route is just measuring the bolt (M6, M8, M10?) and length. It's a flanged hex I can tell you that. You could probably get like 20 for a £5 on eBay

EDIT: TORQEN does have the nut in stock. Here

What we normally recommend on all the headlights with condensation, OEM, DEPO, Spyder, Anzo etc:

    1. replace the ballast O rings / seals with brand new seals
    2. ensure you have wheel arch liners and undertray fitted

    3. remove the light off the car, slowly dry the inside using a hair dryer
    4. add a small silica gel bag inside the headlight, tucked away from any bulbs and secured into place.
    5. re-install the lights

Thanks for the information. I ordered the correct parts then. Near 2 month wait on the covers though, hopefully it arrives sooner.

  7. Thanks lads, appreciate it! Last question, for 26800N there are two available options, 26029-AQ000 and 26029-CF40A. Either of you wouldn't happen to know what one I'd need for my Rev Up manufactured in 2006?

Saying that, maybe I should see if there's a part number for the cover on my car right now. I can cross verify it

With Alex on this, take headlight out and remove the rear main cover and dry the headlight out in an airing cupboard. Get a new cover with O ring while you're at it and check the drainage tube isn't blocked while you're at it, jobs a goodun

What part do I need exactly? Looking on amayama, I can see two different part numbers for the cover with O-ring. Link here. Also, do you think it's worth replacing the O-ring underneath the headlight? You'll see what I mean on the link

Before you crack them open, check that the large O ring is in place on the rear of the headlight as well as the arch liner.

Both front arch protectors are brand new as I replaced them roughly 6 months ago. Will check the O-ring 👍

  10. Hi, I've just noticed some condensation inside the P/S headlight. I did give the car a quick clean yesterday with a pressure washer but by no means was I holding it an inch away from the headlight seals. Reading some other posts said cracking them open wasn't the best idea? Should I get a professional in to do it? Best to do both at the same time?

I'm decent at car DIY. I reckon I could sort if given some trusted advice.

    Thanks!

They are normally etched into the cats, it'll be under the heat shields if anywhere, they are codes to determine what metals are inside as you said (different to the Nissan part numbers).

In my personal experience AMF Cats on Facebook has the best prices for a quick sale, sold 3/4 sets from personal cars and projects. Sure, you can get more on eBay by waiting it out but if you ship to them, they bank transfer the same day they receive them.

He won't need the codes as we've sent him both 350z and 370z cats in the past so they already have what metals are inside on file.

Thanks Coz, I'll take a look at AMF.

For future readers, the cat code can be found on the mounting bracket with the 2 bolts. I had to run some steel wool and emery cloth over mine to make the code visible.

Take it back, what’s the issue? You want new cats?

I recently replaced my OEM cats with HFCs. I've put my OEM cats up for sale on Marketplace and I keep being asked 'What are the cat codes?'. I assume it's something to do with identifying the precious metals inside or something but I can't find any 'codes' stamped on the cats

Do they differ from the actual part numbers? If not then I'm all sorted
