  1. That ride height is absolutely insane!!! I had mine sitting with the front arches about 1cm lower than the top of my front tyres - 245/40/18, I have since raised the height 1cm so it's sitting flush because I was scraping my Nismo v2 bumper on the down slope of most speed bumps (admittedly it is a deeper, lower bumper) and scraping my centre section of exhaust, even though it doesn't hang down. You must be about 4cm lower than that!!! Speed bumps must be an absolute no-go?? You'd get 'beached' surely?
  2. Thanks. I think what I'll do is ask the garage to re-use the ones off the old subframe when they change it over. Some pics for demonstration of what I'm getting up to
  3. Hmm, OK thanks. I'd like to know the part number if anyone knows it, for those ties and/or that dust shield that sounds like you're saying attached to the 'kidney' subframe braces that attach to the chassis/W brace. I'm imagining it to be a large curved aluminium piece. Also would be helpful to know if I can get the clips for the speed sensors mounting to the subframe separately. My dad is in the trade but says the parts dept haven't got a clue Sent over a list of about 20 different nut, bolt, washer s etc part numbers I'd taken from a service manual this morning and they wouldn't accept it until my dad had pointed out each one on the drawing!
  4. I think I've worked that it's the speed sensor that's strapped up there. I also doubt Nissan sell the clips by themselves as many replacement cables are shown with the clip attached. Hmmm.
  5. Hi I have a second rear subframe I have had bushes removed from and am prepping before paint and install of poly bushes. When prepping the subframe I noticed there are a couple of grey cable clips that looking at photos online hold 2 sides of a cable with a connector between. 1 - what is that cable/connector for, handbrake?? 2 - what is the part number for these clips that fit to the rear face of the subframe next to the rear diff bush for it? Other question - what are the zip ties that are attached to the subframe used for, if anything? They were also crappy so I removed them before prep. If they're functional then I'll purchase new ones... Again if I know the part number. I suspect this might be a question for ZMANALEX.
  6. I was in a massive rush and only done rear atm, so I set them at stock height (measured against original shock) This Thursday I'll put fronts on and set height. I'll probably go somewhere around 20-25mm lower I suspect.
  7. **04 ZED, spotted at 1830 while I was filling up my Volvo next door. LED rear clusters on a pre facelift model I believe?
  8. What toe arms did you go for in the end? Did you get camber arms and lockout bolts to go with them? I put Voodoo13 camber and tow arms on the rear along with the same BC true coils yesterday (no photos yet as was in a rush due to having to grind off two of the eccentric bolts and at stock height as dad was shutting up his garage) Driving around today and the increase in road noise is incredible going from OEM rubber bushes to the solid chromoly ends and bushes As long as it's defo the solid bushes causing the extra noise I'm fine with that, as long as nothing's broken! (I've double checked everything seems fine) One thing I am going to do next week is put a load of rubber seal stuff between the top of the struts and the turrets to hopefully reduce the noise a bit. Already have the rubber seal so it's a free hit. Handling is certainly very different, seems to go much more directly where you point the car. More focused. You know what they say - go hard or go home
  9. Hi all - does anybody have a recommendation within an hour-ish drive from Ipswich for leather seat retrimming/repair work? Preferably with some kind of portfolio of work to check. I need the driver's seat bolster re-shaped, leather repaired or replaced and the centre panel re-trimmed or repaired also. Danke!
  10. Howdy... Another local. Close to Ipswich?
  11. As title - gave me a salute as I waited at traffic lights near Shell station.
  12. I've decided to make base plates myself from 3mm CF and bought some universal fit APR GT3 mirrors
  13. Looking for something the same or similar to the Craft Square TCA-F or TCA-N1
  14. Looking around for a reliable and lower lead time source of decent quality carbon GT style wing mirrors, and I was wondering... Does anyone know if the triangle base plates and bolts the same between Z33 and Z34? Z34 compatible carbon GT wing mirrors are far more easily found it would seem.
  15. Thanks for the kind words all - hope I can meet and share the experience with some of you in the future.
  16. Hi, can you tell me the Nissan part code for these mouldings? Looking to buy replacement drivers side one but can't find it online.
  17. {note - this thread has been converted from introductions} Allo all Been reading the forum in a lurking capacity since deciding to buy a Z back in early May 2018. The love for the Z came from way back when Nissan ran the Z33 in the JGTC. It's the first performance car I've owned since a mk1 Clio 16V back in 2006. Bought a silver (Silverstone??) 04 GT (BOSE system, cruise, Brembo) with 51,000 on the clock for just £5250 in May. It's been a busy first few months. Firstly a new gear knob as mine never came off in the 14 years and was perished. (Mole grip fun!) Next I managed to get some Rota Grid 9.5J front and 10.5J concave rear wheels with almost new Michelin PS3 tyres for £650 Had them power coated in a kind of shadow bronze with satin finish. Replaced the stock head unit with a Pioneer touch screen Bluetooth model, with all the associated adapters to fit steering wheel controls etc. I also did the mod to retain the stock speaker voltage to the new wiring harness. Around a month into ownership and the clutch starts to slip. So a new Exedy OEM spec clutch and Tarmacsports lightened solid flywheel were installed at a friend's garage. At the same time I had him replace the rear W and front 8 point braces with Ultra Racing ones Worst visual part of the car was the front bumper. I'd been eyeing Nismo v2 bumpers for a while and in particular one with 30 mins drive from me on eBay. Same day, a Volvo V70 tow bar reverses and splits my front bumper as I'm standing right there in B&Q car park. Pays up estimate of £310 repair from my dad's body shop within 4 days, so the new bumper was a go-er! Took a week off work and did the arduous work myself of trial and error fitment of brackets, sanding down, building up low-sitting areas etc. Sold the original GT bumper and I was even. During the week I also had the wiper stalks re-painted satin black as they were corroded to hell. Last job that week was a oil filter change. New HKS sports filter and some Motul 5W30. Purchased Motordyne XYZ and ART pipes from member in Norwich bit turns out my mid section exhaust is aftermarket already and has a one-piece mid and y-pipe already so doesn't fit. Did get the ART pipes on though. What a sound!!! Rest of the system is unknown make stainless y-pipe back with twin 4" exits. Only mufflers are in the mid pipe. Tyres on the new wheels posed an issue in that front were 245/45 and rears 275/35 - triggering ESP at 15mph. Not ideal. So eBay was forraged again for some 245/40 Advans and 275/40 Bridgestones. So that's the story so far. Next thoughts are, maybe Craft Square carbon mirrors, GT style wing (20cm tall, 60" wide adjustable jobby). I'd love a Nismo rear bumper... Umming about coilovers or whether it will be too uncomfortable, and the handling and ride height is good anyway. If I do then I'll do camber arms all round etc at the same time. Later on, I dream of a built engine capable of 9krpm with 290/280 cams... (Forged pistons, rods, pins, etc.) Maybe enlarge capacity also. I say this now... But on paper I think I'd be happy with 320rwhp, which should be possible with those mode. There's also the issue of plonking down that much dolla and sanity kicking in. But then I didn't think I'd pull the trigger on a Z in the first place. At age 31, I'm on the first year of my own insurance policy ever, so I'll leave the engine mods for now! (Company car for a while and parents before that) My other car is now a Volvo S60 as I have some sprogs. Not sure I'll make any shows this year but maybe next. Who else is local to me in Ipswich? David
