Did GTM not discontinue their sumps? I thought there would be a few manufacturers making baffled sumps  aswell but they are hard to find and very expensive for what they are. The hks sumps are a Rediculous price lol

I have read in America there was an APS branded oil pan with baffles that got good reviews but stopped makin them a few years ago

  2. So the general opinion is that a spacer will be good enough to stop high g force cornering oil starvation, but as zman said if I can find a good baffled sump with tall baffles that would be the best of all

I'll be in contact with @Adrian@TORQENin the next few days to purchace a spacer then I think.

Thanks for all your efforts and inputs guys, and keep them coming, this is the kind of info I was after from people who had experienced this kind of thing.

  3. Thanks for the input guys, I think I'm going to order the ze German baffled sump.

My only concern is in the design of the baffles, as in... if they are a crap design (not much R & D) they could do more damage than good, compared to an expensive performance brand where lots of time and money will have been spent to ensure a good baffle design.

But then again i suppose some baffles are better than none and it will also increase the oil capacity.

This is the same as the one I bought good fit no leaks and my oil pressure went up which I can only assume was due to lower oil temperature

    :)

How long have you had it on your z for??

Also, did you buy it off ebay from germany with no issues??

I'd be a little bit worried as if there were any problems I couldn't exactly ring them and discuss it, I only know how to say goodbye

  5. I don't know if its any help, and abit long worded but the the moral of the stray is it could be your alterator maybe...

after 6 months of owning my z it started not starting, if i didn't start my car within 48 hours I'd have to jump start it, so i put it down to a dodgy battery, changed it.. it worked fine and I could leave it for a few days.

Then after a month or two the same thing would happen again.. took battery back and changed for another one, again after a month or two the same thing happend. I guessed there was a battery drain from my aftermarket CD player. After 6 months of making sure i started my car within 48 hours, one day my slip and tcs light came on, it went into a limp mode where it would rev at idle but wouldn't go past 1500 revs when trying to drive and would stall then not start, so i left it.

Next day went back and started fine no lights, as soon as i tried to drive it would light up not rev and stall about 20feet down the road.. after a day of fault finding I had an educated guess it was my alternator, changed the alternator for a second hand one off zman and now I can leave my car for a week at least, no problem. So I put the having to start within 48 hours down to my alternator slowly dying for over a year, my in car voltmeter was still saying 14v when driving that's why I didn't originally think it was my alternator to start with.

Can’t give you a list as it was just from Halfords. Gave them the above code, bought the primer and dry lacquer from there also. I spent a day sanding, a day and half painting and a day and a half lacquering haha.

So to clarify buy the paint above, then a dry finish lacquer to get the same affect.

So basically, I want some grey primer...

some fiat 750 volcano bronze paint... do I ask for Matt or gloss or anything?? Or just that colour of paint??

And then dry finish lacquer is what makes it not so shiney...

If i was to choose a different shade of bronze, or a metallic shade of bronze I could still use dry lacquer to dull the shine abit??

I appreciate the help  iv spray painted things before but just basic gloss and Matt black, so this is abit more technical lol

  7. Iv seen pairs of roof bars that have 3 suction cups on the end of each bar so 6 cups per bar that you stick you your roof or rear window. They are rated to speeds of 150mph, if seen them used on super cars, if you have a look at "daily driven exotics" on YouTube he has some on his huracan and "stradman" on YouTube had some on his Gallardo and now his R8.

You could buy the 2 bars and use horizontally on your back window, then bolt or tie 2 or three more bars vertically to them (look like this # ) to rest 2 or 4 alloys on, I've seen drifters in America carry 2 alloys in the car and 4 alloys ratchet strapped to the suction cup roof bars

    Hey Matt,

These were painted by me in my garage, halfrauds knocked it up for me in the custom tins and yup the matt lacquer. Looked dark at one angle but when the light hit them could see the bronze shine.

I have seen quite a few use the BMW Sepang also, looks brilliant.

I'll be painting mine in my garage also, could you tell me an exact list of what paints and lacquers you used to paint yours with?? I don't want a proper glossy shiney finish, but at the same time I don't really want a dull Matt finish. Just abit of shine like your pic or my pic I posted.

I'll be sanding by hand and tapeing up the tyre then painting.

so did you buy a Matt bronze paint to your colour code then clear lacquer after??

  9. I'm going to be painting my standard silver rays in a month or so, I'm struggling envisioning my beast with different coloured alloys. Iv been routing through Google and decided I quite like tis dark bronze.

Does anyone know what colour bronze it is by any chance??

Also any other colour suggestions?? (Other than black, I like to be able to see the detail on alloys)

    Cheers

For ages since taking my car out on track at Silverstone, I've had a fairly noticeable brake judder. I knew it wasn't warp discs or down to poor fitment, as i knew the moment it happen and seemed as a result of not warming the brakes up before punishment.

Whilst the car is filthy and in need of a wash, on the way home from work this morning I went through a pad bedding in process. Damn it worked, no more judder and the discs are in much better condition to take another set of pads ready for Castle Combe

    What was your process??

Iv had brake judder for a while also, so would like to try what you did..

Although I think I did warp mine..I'd done about 5 laps around nurburgring GP track but was taking it a little easier on the 1st corner (going from about 120 to 20) on my last lap I thought I'd go for it and brake hard all the way.. I got to about 40 and then the juddering started and now happens when I slam on hard... but i did thjnk that the standard brembo discs were good quality and hard to warp?? Maybe there abit thin so warped easier..

  11. Iv gone in August for the last 2 years... driven down to tunnel then accross Belgium instead of France (no tolls and better roads and scenery) I'm going again this year but in June.

I were going to ask if people were thinking of going at a similar time also... it's sods law the time I decide not to go in August theres possibly a few people going lol

If you fancy going in June instead I'll happily join you,

although I'm going to be there on a Wed, thurs, Fri, where the track is only open 5 till 7 30 each day.

If its your 1st time going I'd say its safer driving the ring during the week as there aren't as many people on the track so you get more open road and don't have to worry about other people, but you can't beat the busy booming atmosphere of a Sunday where its open 8am till 7 30.

A few thing to consider when your there... spa do a 25 min for €100 public driving session once a month, also the ring GP track do tourist sessions 15mins for one lap ticket, so try and be there around them days maybe so you try them tracks out.. I highly reccomend both spa and the ring GP track..

If you want any info or reccomendations of things just me know
