  1. Today isn't a good day, I was being extra careful as well. Scuff the alloys when I was parking off street. I had plenty of space but wanted to park as close to the kerb as possible. I didn't know that the 19" sticks out that much!

Then I hit the speed bump next to my house at 5-10mph.... I don't even know how the hell did that happened, I drove past that speed bump many many times and never had problems with it. I did notice the car was bouncing a little bit more than normal before I hit the speed bump, the road was a bit uneven. I probably should've waited till it stablise before I went over it.

I shined a torch underneath the car and can't see anything wrong. It did felt like it hit something solid and was something behind the drivers seat. Should I get it checked out? Or I'm just being too paranoid.

  2. I just found a measuring tape. It is between 10-12" near the lock. It is around 15" between the rear strut and the seats. So perhaps I can try shove it between there. But it would be risky, I definitely don't want to go pick her up and not being able to bring the suitcase back lol.

  3. I bought all Meguairs simply because that's what this post suggested.

Deep crystal - stage 1 paint cleaner

    stage 2 polish

    stage 3 carnauba wax

    Leather conditioner + cleaner

    Interior plastic detailer

    Ultimate black

My other option would be to go for autoglym product. They are slightly cheaper. The shop assistants were telling me that Meguair is the best product so I took their advice.

Spent like £50 on cleaning products....

  4. Yeah I saw you mentioning how crap they are on many threads :) If I can get it right, and not give up on making my car shine then I'll try a different product next time. I bought it at halfords 3 for 2. £20 for all 3 bottles isn't so bad! My friend tried the polish and he said it was amazing compared to his, not sure what he is using. But he only polishes the car. No paint cleaner or wax. His car also looks much better than mine. So I must be doing it wrong.

I was applying lots of force on all 3 stages. I was worn out before I even got to polish. But that's also because I work in IT and I don't do much exercise....

  5. I'm a bit stuck on the 3 stages of paint cleaner, polish and wax.

Paint cleaner- apply and remove immediately with microfibre towel

Polish- some video guide says to leave it until it hazes and then wipe off. Other video says to keep polishing it with a polish pad until it disappears. Then wipe it off with microfibre towel.

Wax- leave it on for an hour or depending on the temperature / type of wax.

Presumably you also don't apply too much force when you're polishing / waxing? I tend to have to scrub it really hard with a microfiber towel afterwards to get the residue off.

  6. The majority of people I know either don't clean their cars or they take them to cheap hand wash places.

The thing is my driveway isn't suitable for rinsing down cars with water. I've taken other cars to those cheap tesco wave car wash before and they were perfectly fine. But I should've listened, I didn't really expect the paint to be so thin and soft on the Zed.

  7. Sounded exactly what happened to me on Sunday. Wanted to do the Hunstanton run. I thought I could clean the car in 3 hours and go for the meetup. First time in my life that I ever cleaned my own car. It's most likely that I would need to book it in with a detailer. Instead of making it shine, it just has streaks everywhere and patches of bad polish/wax.

  8. I did it on Sunday when it was really sunny. Took it for a car wash as my driveway isn't suitable for a wash. I used the meguair paint cleaner, polish and wax. Failed miserably. The polish was drying up as soon as I put them on, probably due to heat. I thought you needed to wipe the polish off as soon as you put it on. I didn't know you had to polish it until it goes away. So the car is full of streak and just look terrible lol. It took me 3 hours and I didn't improve the look of it. I was so worn out by the end of it.

At least I think I've done the inside correctly and the interior is nice and shiny.

  9. The ones I tend to see are mom driving their kids to school. They drive a large 4x4 but they obviously can't drive very well. Of course not all of them are like that. But my mom is a terrible 4x4 driver. When she first started driving, she always hits the curb when she turns. Now she takes a wider turn and crosses the line. I do also get that sometimes on very tight turns as I don't want my rear wheels to hit the curb especially if the curb is quite high.

  10. Goes up every year without fail had a chat with the post office guy last month and asked has it ever gone down, he said in 20 years .............no  I wouldn't mind if they actually used it to fix the roads

+1 Fix the bloody roads. There are at least 5 massive cracks/bumps on 0.5 mile on one of the major road over here. It's like that all year round. I can't see why the houses on that road is mostly between 750k to 2 million and yet they can't have descent road.
