  1. I drove through 45km of town and didn't see any petrol station, nor did I see any on the motorway. Looking at google map now, only one petrol station was on the motorway! Luckily I entered France with nearly full fuel tank and I only drove a total of no more than 100km. It was good fun, but I really didn't like people not signalling when they are going to exit on the roundabout. Or not using the correct lane to exit the roundabout. Seems to me like only the British drivers are following the rules.

  2. I bought the euro travel kit from halford for 30. They sell them on the ferry for 39. It was a great trip.

So... What happens when you get caught by speed camera in France? Do I get the PCN from post and can I pay it online?

I was using Waze that showed I was within the speed limit on the motorway. Saw the speed camera and didn't think need to slow down and saw the flash go off.

My first time ever getting flashed , hope it's not too expensive.

  3. I've never taken my Zed across. I heard you have to becareful of the ramps when you load it up the ferry?

    Also need the following

    Headlamp Converters

    Warning Triangle

    Spare Bulbs

    Hi Viz Vest

    GB Sticker

    & Breathalysers **

I'm planning to pop over tomorrow. But I don't think I can get those on time unless they sell them at the Dover port?

    edit: Backed from the trip.

No problems getting onto the ramp from Dover. I got the euro kit from Halfords for £30. They sell them on DFDS ferry for £39 but got more stuff in there. Like breathanalysers etc. The ramp to get off from Calais was quite steep. I took a lot of time and was expecting it to scrape the bottom.

Also get to the dock early, took me 45 minutes just to queue for passport control and checking in. Missed the boat but they didn't charge me extra even though the ticket says not flexible time. Thumbs up for dfds.

  4. I was worried about water marks so I went for a drive after the rain has stopped . Most of the water came off and I gently dabbed the places that are still wet with a lot of microfiber towel. Seems to have worked!

  5. Spent 1.5-2 hours on four consecutive evening polishing and waxing by hand.

Super sunny on Saturday, the forecast says it is going to have a shower in an hour time but I didn't believe it. I took the car out and parked it on the grass. Torrential rain within 30 minutes. Mud everywhere.......

  6. Don't know if everyone feels the same. But I feel that when I give way to other cars, I get a lot more thumbs up than when I drive my other car. My gf noticed it as well, she said it must be because most people who drives sports car does not give way to other cars.

I also met plenty of assholes who drive aggressively around me which I'm assuming they are trying to prove they have a faster car.

  7. I've some friends that are terrible drivers and are just an accident waiting to happen. I would feel much safer if they have autopilot cars.

I recall having 3 accidents within a timespan of 30 mins in a women car. She kept doing emergency brake and hitting the car infront. And she has been driving for a long time.

  8. My other half started working in the states a few months ago. She is really struggling in her managerial position. It is her first time being a manager. She has a very similar personality to me, we both are very friendly to work with and get along with everyone. But we let people step all over us and don't stand up for ourselves. She is struggling because all the other managers are very shouty and looks down at her. She isn't able to speak up in meetings because she says the Americans aren't as polite and courteous us the British. We are a young couple so I told her give it a few years and she would change. But hey, that's life and culture difference. We just need to change and adapt. It's always been survival of the fittest.

  9. I had an interview couple of days ago for a job in the states. HR emailed me and ask what I thought about the phone interview. I've done really bad due to nerves, poor audio connection and the accent. I couldn't answer some of the very simple technical question but I could answer the harder question.

Should I be honest and tell them that I would be really shocked if I passed the interview?

My American friends are telling me the culture is very different there. Everyone boast about how good they are. You have to sound confident or else you won't do so well. Unfortunately that isn't me at all.
