  1. So my engine light came on when I was driving to supermarket. I was cruising at 30 mph when it lit up. I done the foot pedal but I don't know the code as it doesn't flashes like what the instructions said. I'm not getting the 10 slow flashes before it gives the real code like what the instructions says. This video is when I done the pedal dance. But didn't do it properly so I didn't release the pedal when it started blinking. 2nd video is when I gave up and just release the pedal and let it blink. I did manage to clear the reset the ECU so the engine light is off. But I want to know what the problem was that caused it. edit: I checked the engine oil, temperature and it was fine at the time when the light came up. Today was a bit hotter than normal and I'm hoping it was just because of that. The car drove fine.
  2. But if I leave it unattended for half a year. I wouldn't want it to start rusting away.
  3. It's not fine lol. I think the Zed is giving me OCD. I don't take it out in the rain. I clean it every week.
  4. Due to work commitments, I might not be able to drive the Zed as often and will have to store it in the work car park for several weeks/months at a time. The multistory car park has steel plated panel that is well ventilated, blocks some of the rains and sun. However it is normally windy over here and the rain does get through. Some parts of the fences are rusted so I guess I should refrain from parking too close to them? There are some spaces where it is surrounded by cement wall. It isn't as well ventilated and water doesn't get through. I assume I should park there instead? Should I also get one of those car waterproof covers?
  5. So I sprayed some belt grip spray. It fixed the noise straight away. No more noise when I cold start the engine. But now it makes the squeaky noise when it is in gear and running....... takes about 5 minutes for it to go away rather than 30 seconds....
  6. I bet she spent them all already.
  7. I guess from the last accident, she got off easy with just bruises and scratches.
  8. Her fb wall has now turned into a war zone. Her Church friends are asking whether she has ever read the bible or understand what it says. I knew her before she started driving. Met her through charity work so I always thought she was a wonderful human being. I'm not religious at all, but you might offend others with your post
  9. Christian, but does it matter? I questioned her about her reckless driving. She believes she is a good driver hence why she thinks she is safe to drive at that speed. Yet she can't even parallel park.
  10. 24. Hence why I said she is a genuinely nice person when not behind a wheel. She is really religious so after the incident. She didn't drink any alcohol or drive a car for the full year as that was the deal with her brother. But now she is back on the roads....
  11. She insisted that the first accident was caused by a used car and that the car haven't got good grip hence she lost control. Police won't do anything without solid evidence, plus she edited the post as I see quite a lot of people telling her off. I know her family will do something, just like how they banned her from driving over a year now. Now she is back and doing reckless driving.
  12. I can't do anything as it's not in UK. She has edited her post. Dan, the 200 miles is all motorway. I've driven that road before so I know it is possible. I've sent the message to her family anyway.
  13. Got a good friend that is genuinely nice person, works hard, do lots of charity work. You put her behind a steering wheel and she goes full retardation. She trashed her first car within a week. Going down a steep hill at speed while the road was temporary paved with cement. It was wet and she wasn't wearing a seatbelt so she smashed her face into the windscreen. Lost control of the car and went onto the other lane and hit a lorry. We went on a charity trip to remote areas to help poverty kids. It was nasty roads, just like the ones you see in India where one side of the road is a cliff and all hairpin curves. She keeps overtaking on blind corner and tailgate people on scooter forcing them to ride faster. I was like WTF? Now she boast on FB how she managed to do 200 miles in under 2 hours. You would think people learn their lesson after their first accident. I'm really fed up with that kind of reckless driving. edit: It's not in UK.
  14. If they posted the wrong item, then there is no doubt that they should pay the postage. If I made a mistake and asked for the wrong item, then I think it is fair to pay the postage myself.
  15. Btw check your white blood cells level. My sis has a type of cancer (none fatal) that gives her 8x more white blood cells than normal people. It's like being super human but not having any abilities. It just means that she has a great immuno response. However it gives her severe migraine due to the concentration of WBC.
  16. So after driving my missus around with the Zed for 2 weeks. She is asking. 1. Is the exhaust always this loud in a sports car? 2. Can we get a real car when we move to California? 3. Why is the car so unstable(my guess is the suspension is hard and too bumpy for her liking). 4. Look at that Mercedes coupe , it looks very comfy. 5. You do know we need a SUV? 6. What, we going to Scotland in this POS?
  17. I feel so embarrassed when I lurch too. Especially in heavy traffic. Some days I feel like I should just put a P plate on. They must think what an idiot, can't even drive a car properly and yet I have a loud exhaust.
  18. If I go from fifth to sixth, then I have no problem. 4-6 directly will grind only if the RPM is high. If I let it drop a bit before switching to sixth, then it doesn't. This is my first manual and my first Zed. I try and be as gentle as possible with the clutch. Sometimes 1.5 second for me to release the clutch from the biting point. I try and find the optimal rev to upshift all the time. I'm glad that it isn't me though!
  19. I see, I'm glad the problem is with me and not the clutch. I've heard about rev matching and know the concepts. Sometimes I do it correctly and sometimes I don't. When I manage to pull it off successfully then it is smooth as silk. I guess we can say Zed is not the best car to learn to drive a manual. I will continue to use the handbrakes, I tend to release the handbrake before I find the biting point. A bit of bad habit but hopefully will change as I drive more of it. I don't coast in neutral anymore. My dad drives in really heavy traffic all the time so I presume that is why he end up driving like that. He doesn't do that on hilly roads but he does it in heavy traffic.
  20. Exactly! I can't believe how bad the French drivers are. There was also so many motorbikes weaving in and out of the traffic, doing ridiculous speed through the town and pulling a wheelie. I had one that shot pass me and made a loud bang. I guess he probably did it on purpose! Luxembourg is too far Zed is fairly comfortable but I'm my missus still prefers a SUV trip. Guess it all depends on the area you live. It's pretty good over here!
  21. I definitely don't have that problem then. Mine definitely is still going strong!
  22. 1. If I accelerate hard to fourth gear. Then change into sixth gear while the RPM is still high (4k). It makes a grinding noise. If I wait till the RPM drops before I put it into sixth gear, then it is perfectly fine. I did thought it was me not depressing the clutch fully when I change the gear, but I've made sure I have. 2. While driving in slow moving traffic in 1st gear. Around 5-10mph at less than 1k rpm. I can feel the car jolts a little bit. Same with 2nd gear when I'm at less than 1k rpm. I can see the rpm jumps a little bit in slow moving traffic. Under 10mph. I don't have any problem with the clutch when I'm driving it in normal speed. Just annoying in slow moving traffic. I just can't seem to make smooth clutch changes. I haven't been driving a manual car that long, just coming up to 2 months now. I'm getting much better, just not where I want to be. I've been in some taxi that the gear changes are so smooth its like driving an automatic. So I think I had some bad advices from friends and family. When you downshift, give it a bit of gas. Which I don't so sometimes it can be bumpy when I downshift. Stop using the handbrake when you come to a full stop. Then the worse one from my dad was, just drop the car in neutral and cruise to the junction. Therefore you can switch to the correct gear quicker. He gets annoyed at me not cruising in neutral and using the handbrakes. He said that's how he learned how to drive 50 years ago. He does drive a lot better than me though.
  23. Can someone explain the symptoms of clutch slipping or when you know the clutch is going?
  24. I drove through 45km of town and didn't see any petrol station, nor did I see any on the motorway. Looking at google map now, only one petrol station was on the motorway! Luckily I entered France with nearly full fuel tank and I only drove a total of no more than 100km. It was good fun, but I really didn't like people not signalling when they are going to exit on the roundabout. Or not using the correct lane to exit the roundabout. Seems to me like only the British drivers are following the rules.
  25. I bought the euro travel kit from halford for 30. They sell them on the ferry for 39. It was a great trip. So... What happens when you get caught by speed camera in France? Do I get the PCN from post and can I pay it online? I was using Waze that showed I was within the speed limit on the motorway. Saw the speed camera and didn't think need to slow down and saw the flash go off. My first time ever getting flashed , hope it's not too expensive.
