Changed the standard headunit for an aftermarket Sony one today (Bose amplified system) - used the very useful fitting headunit thread as a guide. Spliced the blue/white amp remote on lead from the harness adapter into the same on the head unit wiring and the same for the earth lead. Powers on fine and the speakers all work including the subwoofer. However- volume range seems different to before on the standard head unit. Doesn't seem to go very loud- turning the Sony volume up to max (50) seems to be about 2/3rds of the max volume I would expect. Any ideas or is that just how it is?

Turns out one caliper was sticking slightly, stripped cleaned and it's fine now. Discs are still ok. The noise is actually because the place I bought it from last week- needed to put new front tyres on to pass the mot. So they stuck some part worn pirelli's on- but that have uneven wear on the inside- which makes a similar noise to a sticking caliper or wheel bearing. So nothing wrong I've just got an annoying noise might have to change the tyres!

Bought my Zed last week- pads on the front were non existent and the discs knackered so iv not driven it and waited until the weekend to fit new brakes. There was a rumbling noise and the brakes got very hot on the short distance I drove it home so I presumed it may have been a caliper sticking. Had new brakes fitted yesterday- and the noise is still there and the discs were red hot. The noise speeds up as you go faster. Is this the caliper still sticking? Any ideas on how to solve the problem? Was going to try stripping it down cleaning and putting it back.

Yeah a while- I looked at a few including wasting a 5 hour round trip assured the car was spot on to find the clutch had gone. So wasn't too impressed with that. But this one popped up fairly locally- actually from a respossession company- the previous owner had it last November presumably on finance and it was a voluntary respossession so it had all docs full history and 3 keys with it. And I got it for a very good price only thing that it needs are front discs and pads which I've already got on the way. I'm guessing the guy who had it previously was an older gentlemen by the CDs I removed from the CD changer! Barry Manilow, power ballads and pink floyd. Needless to say they were swiftly binned! Haha
