  1. Yeah you're right. Looking back at it now, it does look like a DIY job so not really an attractive offer. Only just noticed the bubbling inside the holes for the lug nuts as well.

He does say in his description "...just needed a refurb so I did a refurb...", which I read as he paid a pro to do it but it looks like he meant he literally did it himself. My bad!

  2. Touring alloys in white

Not sure if there'll be much demand for these, but seems pretty cheap considering they've been refurbed! I assume the marks in the pic below is just dirt?

Got an email from eBay (as it's on my watch list). The price on these has been reduced to £80

  3. If you've changed the dome lights for LEDs and put LEDs in the footwell the current draw will still likely be well below the original filament bulbs, so I can't see it causing any issues to the BCM ;-)

    Which I have indeed :)

I did manage to cause a short circuit somehow during the install though. Taught me for being lazy and not disconnecting the battery! Luckily just replaced the fuse and all was good!

  4. Ahhh, fair enough!

@Steve - Happy to meet up as long as it's not too long, e.g. longer than 30 mins. It's gonna be on my lunch break so I've gotta keep within that, especially as I was 45 mins late to work today!

    I'll PM you now.

  5. i originally wanted to put the bolt thru the top and then put the nuts on inside the boot but i really just could not get it to fit thru so ended up going up thru the boot and having the nuts on the legs

    IMG_17641.jpg

Glad to see you got it fitted :)

Strangely enough, I think my garage had the same issue with the same bolt (one nearer the back of the car on the left side), and did exactly what you did.

  6. I'm sure others will chime in shortly, but personally I wouldn't worry about it too much. 4 owners for a 8-9 year old car isn't that high, especially when you consider it's more of a fun car than a practical car, i.e. people may have to switch due to financial reasons (baby, house, etc...).

Only thing about having more owners is a higher chance of someone along the "chain" slacking on taking care of it, but then again if it has a FSH then that's a good start :)

Oh one other thing to consider I guess is resale value. It could make it a less attractive prospect for some - obviously it was to some extent to you else you wouldn't be here asking.

Sorry, I like to ramble on... In short, I'm not the most experienced at buying cars, but I'd say don't put too much weight on it. If it looks like the previous owners have looked after it, then go for it.

I think I'm the 4th or 5th owner on mine and it's been great!

(Looks like I took too long to type and 2 others have already replied so I'm just repeating their sentiment  )

  9. Having installed an AppRadio in my car, I wanted to give this a go for fun. :)

I never got mine to work though, but I'm sure it's down to the cheap Chinese knock off adapter I bought. It never successfully connected to the Torque app. I Googled at the time, and I think people said that the knock offs were very hit and miss, which is to be expected. I never pursued it though as I also read that they can fry your ECU or something (no idea about validity), plus I didn't want to invest in a proper adapter at the time.

Will look into it again in the future, but right now I have other things I want to work on + I use my AppRadio for GPS anyway so not a biggie.

I'm very prone to rambling, but in short what I'm trying to say is be wary of the cheap adapters. I bought mine from a seller on eBay called "goodshopaa2010".

Hopefully of some use to people who are just starting to look into setting up Torque.

  10. Hi all,

Hopefully I'm posting this in the right section, but I was wondering if anyone knew if the 2 mounting holes for the bottom of the headlight are level?

I've shamelessly stolen a picture from Bullet Magnet's thread below (sorry BM!), but I'm referring to the left and middle arrows:

    001_zps796ae25b.jpg

If noone knows off the top of their head I'll check it at the weekend, but I thought I'd ask in case someone knows!

Oh and I don't think it matters (?) but I have a 2004 UK zed.

    Thanks in advance! :)

  11. An example -

    http://www.ebay.co.u...vjEA5jFdktJa4Pg

    From Taiwan.

There ARE lights on there from the States, Oz and Germany - can we assume these will be LHD lights then?

Oh I thought you were after facelift lights? Sorry if I misunderstood.

The ones you linked above are Junyan / Spec-D Tuning headlights. I bought some 2nd hand on eBay at the beginning of this year (on my build thread here). If you order them, note that:

    • Make sure you request a RHD version
    • They don't have self-leveling
    • Mine had the LED halos, which were very dim. You won't really be able to notice them during the day
    • The 5 LEDs above (which I've come to refer as "spider eyes"), are nice and bright
    • Mine suffered from condensation
    • I'm not 100% sure, but I think they come with halogen low beams, and the HIDs are an "upgrade"
    • Looking back at the photos in my build thread (including the ones on page 4), the HID projector's cut off was terrible. It could have been due to the projectors, bulbs or both! Definitely would recommend at least trying shimming the bulb to get a better cut off.
    • My headlights were aiming super high when I installed them. There are 2 adjustment screws so it shouldn't be an issue, but just worth noting they REALLY need adjusting if you install

I think that's about it. Looking at the list above, it's probably quite off-putting!

I bought my pair for £87. I'm happy to tinker with them so for me, that was a price I was willing to pay. Not sure if I would pay for a brand new set though. Adding on the options and paying customs will add onto the total very quickly. So all things considered, I'd personally get the Depo headlights KyleR mentioned. :) Bullet Magnet did a how on this thread.

As I say, I bought my Junyan lights at the beginning of this year. So far I've had them on the car for a total of 1 day. Definitely looking forward to sticking on the car once I've sorted it though!

Oh and with regards to your question about the country of origin, I'd go on the assumption that US/Germany = LHD and AU = RHD. Definitely worth checking with the seller though!

  12. I sold my uk pre facelift xenon headlights on ebay for £300 with all ballasts and bulbs included.

For my facelift headlights i paid £190 for one headlight on gumtree and £130 for the other on ebay.

So my facelift lights cost me around £20 once my old xenons sold.

Good luck with the search :)

    Wow, very nice finds :)
