  1. Any response regarding the water ingress into the lamps?

They are sending a new unit out to him, free of charge obviously! Dodgey housing maybe Hodaka?

I've sent them some pics and a video. They emailed me today saying they're investigating and will get back to me within 24-48 hours, so once I hear back I'll let you guys know. Definitely seems like a dodgy housing to me. The water's still in there in fact (it hasn't evaporated).

The lights looks absolutely awesome, so as long as this gets sorted I'll be very chuffed. :)

Will let you guys know once I know more.

  2. Sounds good about the fog light. I plan to have a go as well, but after we exchange/complete/move in to our new house. Finally get a garage! A bit small and old, but can't complain! :D

Quick update regarding Car Lab support. I emailed them yesterday night and they've replied. We've only just started the back and forth, but from their response they definitely seem to be helpful so looking good so far. :) Again, will update you guys as things progress, as customer support is obviously important in case things like this happen.

  3. The "brake light" function on the new lamp could have been used as a fog lamp replacement, instead of taping that wire into the brake lights it could have been connected to the fog light plug giving twin rear fog lights.

That.... is a very good point! I feel stupid for not thinking of that!

Just noticed an issue with my offside light today, where it looks like there's water getting into the housing. Thought it was a crack initially, but I had taken some pics of it an hour apart (at bottom of this post) and I noticed it's moved upwards, so I'm pretty sure it's water (it's been raining all day). The line runs all the way across the width of the light. Hopefully you can make it out in the pics.

I'll contact Car Lab and see what they say - will update you guys once I hear from them. I really do love the look of the lights, so hopefully this will be resolved without any issues. Fingers crossed!

    And video of them working:

It doesn't appear to have fog lights, so looks like you'll have to sort that separately as long as I understand the below correctly?

This inspection applies to the one rear fog lamp which is required to be fitted to the centre or offside of vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1980.

Note: A rear fog lamp is permitted to operate independently of headlamp, position lamp or ignition systems.

Personally, that's something I'm more than willing to sort as these do look great! :D Thanks Tuck again for sorting

*EDIT* As per Apex's suggestion in post #49, a way of sorting the fog light "issue" is to tap the blue brake wire into the fog lights instead. Makes a lot of sense! :)

Any finished pics fitted and working?

Just fitted these today, and love them! :)

Now need to get facelift rear brake lights! Oh and noticed they have dual reverse lights and are missing the fog light, so I'll need to sort something out before the next MOT. No biggie. :D

*EDIT* Regarding the above comment about the fog light, Apex suggested something which makes a lot of sense, which is to hook up the brake lights (blue wire) to the fog light. That way you don't lose the fog light functionality. If noone else fits it this way before I get around to it, I'll update you guys with which wire you need to tap into (I have no idea right now).

    Video of them working:

Got that installed, the rear brake lights tinted very slightly, bumper tucked, spacers fitted (20/25mm) and even had time to wash the car. Today has been a productive day

  6. My lights came last week by the way lads, no duty or tax to pay! So £103 posted to your door, wiring them up as soon as I've sobered up from the festive period 🍻 I'll make a guide for fitting as well as a video of the finished product

Mine came as well on Wed - no duty or tax either. Thanks for sorting Tuck!

A guide would be much appreciated as I didn't see any instructions provided. :)

  7. Yes they are Good! haha we will have to have a drive out in the summer see if we can get a few of us together from this area .Yeah the drive is a nightmare and as I found out this morning the traffic light doesn't work for my motorbike for some reason

Yeah definitely. I know there's a few of us interested in a meet etc... so definitely should sometime next year. :)

Concerning your bike, maybe they installed a detector/sensor thing under your drive. Would make sense I guess as there obviously won't be many people going in/coming out of there. Anyway, I heard that bikes can be too small to trigger those, but you can stick a strong magnet under your bike to trigger them. Maybe worth a shot?

This is the video I watched ageees ago about it:

  8. It's a shame that Nissan didn't sort it for you, but glad to hear you're enjoying the new kit :) I have the Xtreme clutch + SMF for my 350z and love it too. They make great products

On a stalk-ier note, I went to drop off my wife with Liz the other morning and saw your 370 again. B)

Good thing they gave you guys your own dedicated traffic light too. Must have been a nightmare getting out before! :scare:

  9. You could give this a go. They're from Taiwan - http://www.350z-uk.c...ight-by-carlab/

Depending on whether or not they're still accepting group buys, the cost was £103 (see post 21), else it's somewhere around £125. I've ordered myself a pair of smoked versions - they're on the way so fingers crossed all goes well. :)

*EDIT* The product in this video seems to be the same, and shows it in action -

  10. Hi all, been after a set of skirts for my zed and came across this item on ebay:

    121840557574

Seems ridiculously cheap but seller has 100% positive feedback... does anyone know this seller and / or kit? Is it a decent fit?

    Thanks

I personally wouldn't feel comfortable purchasing from them for the following reasons:

    • Almost all of their reviews don't have the product name listed, nor the price
    • For the ones that do have item name/price, it says it's an Audi A4 spoiler that sold for 4PLN. I checked, and that's £0.17 at today's exchange rate!
    • They have 52 ratings, but a 100% 5/5 for all criteria. I can't imagine them getting a perfect score, especially with the spoiler above
    • The number of ratings each review has seems a bit too consistent for my liking. If it were legit, I would expect this to vary much more
    • They've changed their ID recently from "urbapl2" to "slsmotors" (on the 13th Dec '15). Although it could of course just be for rebrand purposes, it adds to my suspicion when combined with the above

So yeah, I'd personally be a bit wary. I don't know much about eBay + botting, but the ratings feel a bit too artificial for my liking. :surrender:

  11. Can you put these wheels on my black 350z please ?

Sorry James, I completely forgot about your request! I was going to have a go tonight but that picture you linked of your car is a bit small. Do you have a bigger version of a pic?

I'd love to get my rear spoiler photoshopped but I can't post a photo :(

Feel free to PM me the details and I'll see what I can do

  12. BMW Z4 3.0i. Cost me £6,700 and had to pay thousands in repairs as I had (or more accurately, still have) no idea about cars and bought a bad one.

Still loved the car but had to sell it in the end as I made the mistake of buying a SMG, and it had an issue where it would randomly go into neutral at times. Plus it had some gear crunch + wouldn't start at times etc... Quote was something like £3,500 in parts alone as apparently BMW only sold a whole assembly rather than just that particular part. I can't remember what it was, but the garage was a reputable one that I trusted. He did say all along he would have sold it if it were his as it was riddled with issues.

Second car is my current 350z, and loving it to bits. I can't seem to rid myself of zeditis though...
