  1. Not sure if it counts as Farnham, but saw a black 350Z with the above plate at around 6:30pm near Sheppard and Flock roundabout. To be more precise, the roundabout that's just before Sheppard and Flock if you approach from the big Sainsburys. You were in the left lane going towards the A31, stuck behind an a**hole who skipped the queue by using your lane, then trying to turn right at the roundabout... I absolutely hate people who do that... So damn selfish!

The woman in the mini behind you was having a right go at him

Oh and I was in my GM 04 plate having loads of fun in the right lane, which was pretty much at a standstill as usual.

  2. Brilliant little review.

One question, does the screen auto swap to camera in reverse?

Did you wire it to the reverse light?

Does it just use the power off the numberplate light?

I lied, that was three questions

Haha, Well it's sorta 2 questions anyway, coz Q2 and Q3 are pretty much related.

Please take the below with a pinch of salt. I'm no expert and I've only done this 1 time! :surrender:

First of all power. I tapped the positive (red) into the reverse lamp wire (pale green) and the ground (black) goes to the Bose amp housing, or any other earth. This way when you select reverse, the power to the reverse lamp will also provide power to the camera. Make sure you get the PALE GREEN white, not the GREEN/WHITE one, as that's for the indicators instead. And no, there's need to power it into the numberplate.

Concerning the screen swap, yep, it does on mine. I had to switch a setting called "Camera Polarity" to "Battery" on the Pioneer HU I have, so that it switches to the reverse camera when it gets powered on. I have no idea what you're meant to do for wireless cameras though

Here's the guide I followed, which goes into much more detail:

    http://www.350z-uk.c...de/#entry837770

I sorta skipped the testing phase though!

It should be quite clear from the post above as it's pretty well written  Just in case this helps clarify though, I think it's like this for yours (the transmitter/camera side only):

    Explanation_zpsa2weicye.jpg

*EDIT* - Thinking about it, do you think it takes a bit of time for the transmitter / receiver to connect to each other? If so, the above method might lead to undesirable delays. Maybe for wireless it's better to keep the camera on at all times. No idea but worth looking into?

  3. I bought a reverse camera which pretty much looks the same, but from a different seller. I personally opted for the wired version as I heard wireless (especially cheap ones) can be prone to interference. No idea about the validity of that claim, but definitely seems to make sense. I wanted to play it safe as well, so went wired. Well... as safe as Chinese parts from eBay can be

As M1 6RYF has already stated, the wired version is a bit cheaper too.

Anyhow, I installed the camera in July and haven't had any issues with it so far. The only thing is I installed it myself, so I don't mind replacing it if it does go wrong, which wouldn't surprise me. I think if you're 100% going to get it done by a professional, you may as well just get one that's reputable. That's my opinion anyhow.

My opinions on pros/cons for the cheap one M1 linked (wired or wireless)

    Pros

    • Cheap
    • Quality is pretty good - more than satisfactory imo
    • Not too bad in the dark

    Cons

    • It's a cheap part and I assume the quality control is pretty much non-existent. I have no idea how long it'll work for.
    • My one came from Hong Kong so it's a bit of a hassle to return if a faulty one did get delivered
    • Not really that big a deal, but I installed LED lights in my numberplate lights, and the camera blocks some of the beam. There's a noticeable shadow in the illumination of the numberplate.

Not sure if it's helpful, but a couple of photos below. Bit obvious, but please note that the example of it working isn't really ideal, as I'm trying to take a picture to illustrate the performance of the reversing camera in low light, by using another camera (my phone) in low light

  4. Ahhhhh... Seems I've been fed incorrect information! :surrender: Just spoke to my wife and yeah, it's Liz she worked with. :)

We're actually just in the process of buying a house by Heath End School as well. We'll pretty much be neighbours haha

  6. The down shifts sound amazing

Definitely. Heard it in person a few weeks back when I was stuck 2 cars behind you in my GM 350z. Awesome sound

Is that the nice black 350z ive seen around here ? Look sweeet

Nah gun metal. I'm more than happy to swap?

  7. Hi guys,

Hopefully this is the correct place to post this, but in case you haven't heard, apparently eBay are holding a flash sale today between 4pm - 10pm!

I haven't read it in detail yet as I'm at work, but the gist I get is:

    • Minimum spend £20
    • 20% off to a max of £50
    • Only works on certain categories
    • You need to pay via PayPal and have a UK eBay account
    • Can only use code once per account
    • Voucher codes will be released at 4pm today. I heard they'll be posting it on their Facebook page (make sure you visit their .co.uk page, not the global one)

More details can be read on eBay's site. Make sure you read it fully as there's bits I didn't cover above - http://pages.ebay.co.uk/promos/flash/

I'll definitely be taking a look around tonight to see if I can grab a bargain :)

One thing PCAdvisor said is that sellers may increase their pricing to take advantage of the increased traffic, so I guess it's worth double checking historical pricing data to make sure you're not buying at an increased price.

    Happy shopping

  8. Could you photoshop these wheels as anthracite and also as a dark purple metallic/chrome finish please!! I wanted dark wheels initially but after seeing Johnnymono's shiny red Rays I might be swayed into taking the colourful route instead!! Thank you :teeth:

Heya! Are these ok? I'm not sure if you added a filter, but I removed it for these.

  9. Sounds good mate, yeah maybe a different shades "off-black" or gun metal-ish, but with a gloss finish so it still looks painted?

But no rush again, I'm looking to get this done next month sometime so just thinking of different ideas :)

Sorry it took a while. I tried my best, but making matt look gloss is something I've never had to do before!

I added a bit of lighter area as I assume the whitish concrete would lighten the colour of the diffuser, and tried to mimic the reflection of the tarmac. Did try various things but I can't really make it look any better than this!
