  1. Thanks guys. I was thinking about a vented hood. Also, enclosed air boxes around the intake filters with additional vents above them or in front of them so that the engine is sucking in cold air directly from the outside. You can see in the picture where my intakes are mounted. I was thinking vents in the very top half of the bumper in front of each intake with some kind of tubing coming from them directly into the enclosed boxes that I'll have fabricated. Wrap the intake piping in heat wrap to fend off heat soak. Ceramic/zircotec the manifolds and turbos. Vented bonnet. I think I'll still go for a bigger FMIC. Cut the centre section louveres out of my bumper for less obstruction. A whopping big FMIC grinning at you looks cool too, I think. I so want to nail these niggles because they're nothing serious but, there's just no sense in not ironing them out. Attention to detail. No one can say I skimped on the build lol. Anyway, with our long winter and how suddenly the weather has changed, I have really noticed the power drop because of warmer air. I noticed the garage had only used water as my coolant, so today I drained it and got some antifreeze/coolant from Halfrauds and just went 50/50. Guys, I've been considering, when I get all this nailed, selling my engine, turbo kit and clutch as a package and funding an LS3 conversion. Has anyone on here done one? Are there any advantages or disadvantages? The noise is a big advantage!! Picture now up.
  2. Yep, a lot of stuff in the way.
  3. I think it's just because the manifold is buried so deep and the amount of guff on top of it. I'll have a trip to a few garages next weekend. The cost isn't even the issue, it's the down time. The garage I've been using is so slow. But yeah, will have a trip to a few garages next weekend. Yeah, the FMIC I've got that came with the kit isn't very big. Half of it is blocked by the oil cooler too. It does get very, VERY hot under the bonnet. I heard of this zircotec coating that vastly reduces heat escaping the manifolds, etc, by a fair bit. That'll be worth looking into.
  4. When it all comes together, it'll be good. I'm really looking forward to turning up the boost. It'll breathe new life into it. Literally lol. 380bhp right now so, 580bhp should be doable. I only gained 80bhp over standard when going turbo so 200 more bhp will be wild. At first. Loose manifold is causing horrendous fuel economy. Just far too busy to fix it as it's my daily. Thinking of getting a bigger FMIC and bonnet vents with enclosed air boxes directly the vents. No doubt someone will be along to tell me why that will cause my car to explode though.
  5. Seen this twice now and both acknowledge each other.
  6. All thats wrong with it is a loose manifold and a few age related bits and bobs that would be there, modified or not. I think anything like this is normal when it comes to modified cars. And lots of people do give up. I think about it too. But I feel that satisfaction comes from the long journey to realising a dream or goal. Not to mention it's my hobby as such. A hobby is an ongoing thing. Plus I really enjoy owning the car. It turns heads and sparks conversation with complete strangers. No other car I've owned has sprinkled little bits of those moments on the cake of ownership. To be continued......
  7. Seduce his wife relentlessly. (If she's fit)
  8. The turbo kit was 2nd hand. Some bits and pieces were missing, but not much. So, that's one reason the gasket might be missing. Still, I'd have thought I'd be alerted to this when it was being fitted lol. Not to worry, I'll get a set. Couple of months and I'll have significant moneys saved to splash on 'little' things as well as coilovers, that together, make a big difference to the way the car feels. Bushes, etc. I really wanted to soften the dampers a bit, too. Can anyone recommend anything to replace/renew that really smooths out the ride and just makes the car feel better and younger? Just things that are prone to rattle or knock and clunk? Also.... bodywork. She's looking tired.
  9. I think as there's no gasket, that'll make a big difference in keeping the manifold tight against the head. Good to know it'll just be OEM. I'm dying to wind the boost up. Got boost controller sat here.
  10. Sounds horrendous lol. Farting. And fuel "economy" has bottomed out. Its a shame it's such a pain to get to. Also, there's no gasket(s) Wondering where I can find gaskets for a long discontinued turbo kit. Any suggestions?
  11. This is why I need a new garage. They said they'd sort it so the bolts didn't come loose again.
  12. Anyway. Sorted all that out. Fine now. Replaced battery and cam position sensor. But. Now another recurring problem. The manifold on bank 1 keeps coming loose which is a pain as it's buried so low. I wish I had the tools/time/skills to do it because the garage I'm using take aeons to do anything. Still, I drive it hard and I'm happy with the way the actual engine copes with that. I need to put it away, save about £5k and splash it all at once to sort the niggles out. Which will include replacing the major suspension components because i replace one, then another one starts clunking. Coilovers. Use a different garage, too. The one I've been using are so slow it's unreal. I constantly think about getting it perfect then selling it.
  13. Our government. Trying to stop labour getting in. All adds up. Claiming that Corbyn is practically ex KGB and now creating a big furore about anti-Semitism in his party and him being in bed with Hizbullah.
  14. My friend in Rochdale has a bodyshop and would be delighted to do it much much cheaper than that. And he has experience with custom paint jobs on high end motors too. He's insurance rated. Drop me a message if you're interested.
  15. Sorry Valy. Didn't see your post. I've been off more than on. Due to cancer in 2016/2017 and recurring hypokalemia, my body is not what it once was. I did have a good 6 week stint where I kept going 5 days a week and dieted but, I didn't really make any gains. I think I lowered my calories too much. 5 years ago I could cut fat on 1800 calories and still gain muscle. Now, having calories too low seems to stop both goals. 3300 is my daily maintenance at my activity level. So I think if I drop to 2300 calories I'll lose 2 ibs of fat and by keeping protein high, I should maintain and even add muscle. It's like, you hear of women eating 1000 calories a day and complaining they don't look any different after a month. They've just lost muscle and water due to the crisis mode the body goes into. On the flip side, if I want to add mass I'll only need to add 500 calories a day. Cut on 2300 Bulk on 3800 2300 is decent, I can enjoy some food with that. After my last bout of hypokalemia, I was really so weak it messes with my mind. I used to be able to bench 60kg dumbels. There I was down to 12kg dumbels!! Summer is hopefully coming and I'd like to be in better shape for t shirts. How is everyone else?

    Heat help!

Lol some people just aren't that adventurous with this kind of automotive thing. Give me a house and I can renovate it top to bottom. Anyway, I found it mounted inside the wing. It's fixed and holding. Thanks guys.

    Heat help!

It took ages and a lot of head scratching to fit the catch tank. I have no tools to fabricate things.

    Heat help!

I've no room there where you've got yours. Mine has a fuel pressure gauge set up there.

    Heat help!

Nice. How did you get it to fit? There's literally no space in my bay.

    Heat help!

Sorted it today. I didn't follow the guide more, used intuition and patience. Used the bleed valve and just watched the coolant after pouring it in and seemingly looking full but then after a minute it suddenly dropped. Did this quite a few times and 5L of coolant/water mixture later it finally stayed full. No air bubbles. Unfortunately because of the TT conversion, I cant find the reservoir lol which may have made it easier. Anyway I'm surprised the garage couldn't get on top of this issue. Took me 30 mins.
  21. Hi. So, I've been to the garage so many times now with overheating. Basically, the heaters don't blow hot air unless I'm at 3krpms or over and in traffic, it overheats quite quickly. The garage is painfully slow at doing anything. It'll take him a fortnight to even get round to it, meanwhile, I can't get to work. He says there's no ait trapped, no leaks, thermostat was replaced, fans are ok and he says the water pump is part of the engine so can't fail. Coolant level is fine. What's going on? I wish most of you technical guys weren't down south and could take a look!!
  22. Yep. But there's also a lot of confusion on the web about how the engine is being viewed. Top down stood in front of the car looking at the engine, or sat in the cockpit. Varying opinions!
  23. Flipping Google searches "which is bank 2 VQ35" Americans call bank 1, bank 2. And vice versa. Found it on here eventually. :-)
