  1. Can you please ammend this, I was told 28 and over on the phone.
  2. I wont be claiming anything on my policy, it is debatable whether either car was damaged seeing as the scuff on the 3rd party car came out with a wash. The third party hasn't contacted their insurance but my insurance can't close the case until next year (I had a real go at them since I was merely notifying them of the incident). Anyway, if I get a good enough quote if I offered the 3rd party a few quid he'd sign a waiver saying the claim is closed...
  3. Hi, my NCB is suspended pending the outcome of a case. The other party involved hasn't made a claim in the 3 months it was open, but my insurer says they have to keep the case open for 6 more months. Would you give me a quote given you require "1 years NCB" ?

Thanks Graham. Fully working pre owned PAS pumps in stock and good to go same/next day. saint: Just drop me a PM if I can help further. Alex. Done and done! I've had my workout today "a la steering wheel" and I'll be damned if I have many more like it! PM sent

As the title says. Mine has a nasty leak and I can't afford a new one.
  6. Bad news, the car might have to go because of this. it feels like the worst day of my life. Adrian Flux put me back to 1 years NCB and treat it as a worst case scenario (insurance pays 3rd party) until such date as its' closed. I haven't seen a quote from them yet as it's not due until the 28th of November, but quotes elsewhere are in the £1000's. Even though i'd get the money back, I can't afford it upfront and I can't get enough credit to cover it. So yeah, FML..
  7. When you say failed, I presume you mean slipping badly, at a guess I would say the bite point has been previously changed at the pedal/master cylinder interface to accommodate a worn clutch plate, and then the new friction plate has been fitted and the bite point not re adjusted, so keeping the slave in affect open and stopping the friction plate making proper contact, resulting in chronic slip, failing that the clutch has been fitted incorrectly...wasent fitted by a Halfords monkey was it? Ironically it was fitted by Halfords, I have already given the telling off on that one. From what he said, the replacement clutch was in pieces when they removed it, and it went suddenly (no slipping or warning). Seeing as its happened twice on new clutches I'm thinking somethings up with the actuation? With it being an old car I doubt it'll be a hydraulic system.
  8. On behalf of a friend with an Astra, his clutch gave out and he had a new one fitted. This one failed after 100 yards, and the replacement for that one lasted 2 miles. Any ideas on what could be causing it?
  9. Well first of all, wow! Such enthusiasm for car products, thanks for all the replies! I'm still trying to find that tin of "elbow" grease ;-) I went to Halfrauds to pick up a parcel that ended up there, and whilst I was there I saw Rain-X was on special offer so I've nabbed a bottle. If it doesn't do the job I'll go for something fancier!
  10. PM me offers, I'd downgrade to a lesser plate if I get money to mod the zed Ever decide to sell that plate let me know lol
  11. I'm over in Crewe and I pass through Stoke on a regular basis. Black pre-facelift with "BOOST" on the number plate (*cough* it's not turbo'd :-( ) I'll start paying attention to the other zed's I see ;-)
  12. Hi, Does anyone have experience using hydrophobic sprays on their windows? I'm thinking of using it for my parking camera since the first drop of road spray is rendering it unusable at the moment. I've seen a few products online but I'd rather use a recommended one than pick one at random :-)
  13. Well I've gone and done it, after messing with my center console enough times I finally slipped and nipped the white ribbon that goes from the heater control box to the heater control knobs. Does anyone know a good source to get a replacement heater ECU, or as per the topic title, can the ribbon be repaired?
  14. Bump. I've had new flanges put on both ends, same price and pics to follow shortly :-)
  15. Hi guys, Really amazed by the number of replies and good advice everyones given me. I checked with my insurance and he's yet to claim after 3 weeks, but the file still has to stay open until 9 months have passed. I'll find out soon if all this effects my renewal!
  16. Looking for £70 for both together collection / postage at buyers expense, or separately at £20 for the center pipe and £50 for the back box. Item is near Sheffield. The flange between these two was blowing but I sealed it with exhaust paste and its fine now. If you prefer I have a family member that can swap the flange for a flexi which should fix this common fault...
  17. Looking for £50 incl postage, it's been used for a few days and has a little glue on the back left over from fitting it and the power supply cable was prepared / taped up during installation. Other than that it's as new, selling it as I elected to fit a bumper mounted camera in the end.
  18. To check the impact on my quotes I asked them to check for me and they were happy to help. I've got similar results via comparison tools when putting in a bogus name / email address. He's definitely insured, the boys in blue checked our details whilst we exchanged them. Fairly glad the cops didn't bend me over for having incorrect spacing on my plate That's fairly handy to know. The impact speed was around walking pace, maybe even less. I literally rolled forwards at a junction and clipped his rear bumper.
  19. I wonder how you can claim injury when my number plate didn't even get displaced (and it's just stuck on, plinth deleted!!)
  20. Depends what happens, but the general impression I get is that if I have to claim this I'll have to revert everything back to stock on my car. Insurers get edgy with "custom XYZ, has zero no claims". The difference is a grand with mods, or 500 without, although I've only checked Adrian Flux
  21. I'll give the insurance a ring tomorrow and let them know of his behavior! I think next time I ring him I'll record it too! I have zero faith that if I give him £200 this is going to just go away, my mate reckons paying him is an admission of guilt and thats when he'll sting me for medical fees. Does anyone know time limits on these things? 3 years for a medical claim seems a long time, how would they prove they had whiplash 3 years ago? I reckon another smart move is to stall him until he can't claim on his car insurance
  22. Wondering what people have to say about this - I scraped my front bumper against someones rear left wheel as they passed me at a junction. We exchanged insurance details and I enlisted a passing policeman as an intermediary whilst we sorted things out. The damage to both cars is minimal, scuff marks at best, but the other party is now asking me for £200 in order for him to not report to his insurance. In addition he says he has a personal injury lawyer who is seeking up to £1500 in compensation for a neck injury (despite the police having a report of "no injuries to either driver"). I don't have legal cover on my insurance, and I've gone by the book with Adrian Flux from my side. He's not reported to his insurance yet, so I wonder if his notice period has expired? Main question is how to proceed from here... I haven't agreed to pay him off and I informed him to get an impartial repair quote from his insurance. His damage is for a scuff alloy wheel and a SMART rear bumper repair, although he also claims the suspension is damaged (something he could tell me by driving 20ft between the accident and pulling over...). I persuaded him to drive me around in his car at the scene of the accident and I have a recording on my phone showing the car drives fine. I'd take his offer instantly since my insurance will go up by £500 if we go that way, but what's to stop him either A) pretending he never got money from me, B ) pretending he never agreed to it, in the process giving his insurance an uncontested win, or C) taking the money and making a personal injury claim outside of the insurance. I told the police about his tactics and they didn't give a crap...
  23. Is there a good diagram of what cable goes where at the back of the HU? My fronts don't work after a shop fitted my pioneer
  24. I got a test light on it, a few things happened... 1. The fuse in the engine bay fuse box went 2. It blew because a screw had cut into a cable when the shop fitted it and caused a short when disturbed It's all working now, I won't name the shop but they've messed me about a lot already!
  25. Not sure, I googled but find nothing. Is it easy to find out when I return to swearing at it tomorrow afternoon? Is it possible the guy who fitted my unit grounded it against the screw I mentioned? And most importantly did I fry my unit? EDIT Heh, yes it does have a fuse...and its rather obvious when looking at the back! D'oh!
